I had inquired D&B about a rib roast for a prime rib dinner I was going to be hosting for 10+ people. I called up on a Monday and asked specifically for a standing rib roast to make prime rib. I was told to call back«when I was sure I wanted to order it» and to give them a day to get it in. Normally if I’m calling for something, I generally want the thing. I called on a Thursday to make sure it was ready on Saturday. I again stated that I wanted a standing rib roast for a prime rib dinner and was told that it shouldn’t be a problem. I called the Friday just to see how the order was going and they said that it had come in. It was 20+ lbs with the bones and all. I thought this was a little large but what the heck more for everyone I thought. When I got to D&B to pick up the roast the next day the guy at the counter said his boss had done the order and he had to find the paper. He came back with a big box with the«roast» in the cryovac plastic. It looked a little strange and I asked if he was sure this was the roast. I also thought it odd that the box had«short loin» on the outside. He assured me that it was in fact my rib roast, even he examined the meat, and so I paid and took it home, thinking that they had just put the roast in an extra box because it was so large. When I got home I opened up the plastic and stared right at some meat that looked exactly like T-bone and porterhouse, sure enough I got exactly what the box stated(short loin). Furious, knowing that I had a roast to start in 3 hours and nothing to throw in the oven I called back to vent my frustration at not receiving what I had repeatedly asked for. The employee said I could bring it back and returned my cash. I ended up buying a rib-eye(off the bone) at a restaurant supply store and paying almost $ 60 less than what I paid at D&B. The dinner turned out good, but was hoping for a bone-in. I will not be coming back to a «meat company» that doesn’t even know what a Standing Rib-Roast is.

I love these guys. Whenever I am in a bind and can’t find what I need at the local supermarket, I can get it here. Free range turkey for $ 1.89 a lb? In stock. Whole goat? We got it, and will cut it up beautifully for you. Quartered lamb? Any size you need. The freezer in the tiny entry room is FULL of all sorts of Hmong/Lao sausage, regular and spicy … 2 lbs for $ 8, I HIGHLY recommend picking up 2 or 3 packages for your freezer, the stuff is like crack. The staff is super friendly, helpful and kind, and the prices great. Don’t be put off by the tiny storefront or the cleanliness of the front — the freezers are spotless and the meat is always high quality.
