Located down in old town Sacramento, a very nicely stocked kitchen supply, gadget and things you can’t live without for your kitchen store. Professional and knowledgeable staff that’s very helpful and friendly. Asked the clerk a couple questions and he not only answered my questions but went the extra distance to make sure I had exactly what I wanted. A small shotgun style shop, which on our recent visit had about half its space committed to a Christmas decorations store, didn’t venture into that side of it but it looked like santa’s elves had taken over. There are all kinds of neat kitchen tools, I found a couple items I’d been looking for at what I thought was a fair price, so picked them up to go with us. As I was checking out I asked the clerk if they accepted Apple Pay and they do — used my iPhone’s «wallet» and it could not have been much easier. Plan to visit them again the next time I’m in town. Worth a visit. 4 stars 374

Everyone can use a little kitchen gadgetry in their lives and Chef’s Mercantile seems to know how to fulfill our needs. Joe K. and I were walking around Old Sacramento, when his love for cooking kicked in and his culinary radar spotted this store. I thought I had just about every gadget in my kitchen already(thanks to my mother), but little did I know that there are new and improved products that even I hadn’t seen before! We enjoyed browsing up and down the aisles, studying items that caught our eye. I do have many of these gadgets in my kitchen drawers, but most were from the 70’s and are either outdated or ready to break from old age. This store has some nice ideas and better ways of preparing foods with more convenience. Joe had some specific things in mind that he was looking for that they didn’t carry or offer to order, such as a pasta maker and ravioli form. But I still felt compelled to buy a couple of gadgets just because I couldn’t leave the store empty handed!

Chef’s Mercantile, unlike so many other shops in Old Sacramento, actually has useful products you can use around the house and mainly for the kitchen. It’s a gadget shop, with oddities like egg poachers and cranberry peelers, but useful oddities and ones of higher quality than your typical«As Seen on TV» selection. I usually come here to refill my Soda Stream carbonation because, surprisingly, they are one of the very few places in town that does this. While I’m there, I’ll peruse the shop. I rarely buy anything for myself but there are a lot of great gift ideas. Things can get quite pricey, or what I like to call the«tourist markup.»

I was so excited when I saw this place. I thought finally a place where I can go and find nifty little chef cooking tools and gadgets. Instead I found an odds and ends dumping ground for just Bed Bath and Beyond rejects. This place is a total chaotic mess. Sure there are some useful items you can find here, but nothing that will be a must buy item here. They have a lot of stuff just not a lot of unique stuff you can’t get anywhere else. There is also a year round Christmas store that is attached you can walk into. I guess in case you really have to have that ornament in July? The short version is you may find something, but you will live without it probably.

This place has EVERYTHING you could ever imagine needing in a kitchen! Citrus peelers, egg poaching devices, cute aprons. I died and went to kitchen heaven! Only downside is the prices are a little steep. If you like cooking or baking, it’s a great place to walk around in and worth stopping in if you are roaming around Old Sac.

Chef’s Mercantile is beautiful! They have everything you could EVER want for your kitchen. From the coolest kitchen gadgets to the finest cookware… Chef’s Mercantile has it all! Their gorgeous store and knowledgeable staff make this an incredible shopping experience. Old Sacramento is changing and Chef’s Mercantile and it’s sister store, Christmas & Company are raising the bar.
