Trent, the owner, is a kick ass dude who also has a studio in this Mexican art store. The prices are reasonable and the artwork is unique. Go check it out, you won’t be let down!

This shop is great for unique gifts; with a major focus on the dia de los muertos themed goodies. Sacred hearts are my thing and this place has tons to choose from from painted tin hearts to wooden carvings. Items range from prints, jewelry boxes, mirrors, books, jewelry, paper flowers, etc. I stop by often on break when I need a recharge and this place does this trick. The cost of random trinkets range from fairly cheap to pricey depending on the item. The owner is pretty laid back and his pup is equally chill.

I have had this budding appreciation for sugar skull and Day of the Dead art since I was younger. I’m thrilled to see it coming out of the woodwork finally. Artworks 21 is a cozy little gallery that not only sells some original and local pieces, but very peculiar this’s and thats as well– like this low brow art book I’m dying to get my hands on. The person(owner?) at the counter was pretty quiet, but nice enough. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a ton of Mexican Folk art available– what caught my eyes were the canvases, and the«everything 10 dollars» shelf. Just browsing, I could tell Id be back in here for some gift buying soon. Unique stuff makes me happy.

This is where I get my «tattoo-art» fix. Since I work in a stuffy office I can’t cover my body with tattoos, so I just buy crazy tattoo art. I bought a couple pieces here to hang in my family room. Really happy with them and it’s not the same stuff you can pick up at Ikea(I still love Ikea, tho).

Love all of the Day of the Dead stuff in the store, but didn’t buy a thing because the owner was aggressively unfriendly and extremely rude. I will never go in there again. It’s too bad when your personality gets in the way of your business being successful.

I had forgotten the name of this place for a long time now and then I ran into it again last weekend so now I can post my long overdue review. This place is really cool, they have awesome Day of the Dead figurines and the owner is a photographer who travels around Mexico and puts his photographs on canvases for people to purchase. Definitely a cool selection, run by a passionate store owner, at a pretty decent price. Worth a trip.

Awesome! I can always find neat stuff at Artworks 21. He has an awesome selection of dia de los muertos figurines, pictures, etc. The owner is always very fiendly, and goes to and takes pictures in Mexico and surrounding areas, which are a lot of the prints you see hanging up in the shop. Very good place to find unique gifts, and cool décor for the pad.

Loved this locally-owned store when it was on 21st Street, next to Lucky Café… Trent carries a great selection of gifts: some artsy(books, jewelry, etc.), some kitschy, some practical — always affordable. One of the first places I’ve found interesting Frida Kahlo and Dia del Muerto art. He’s also an avid photographer… my favorite is a man smoking in a Guadalajaran café, or the Sacramento landmarks. I never know exactly what I hope to find, but I know it’s unique and most of my recipients like their treats. BTW, I need to get myself over there before Christmas!

This is a great place to go to find gifts for the«hard to buy for» friends of yours. There is something here for almost anyone. and it is all unique. Also the best part is you don’t have to be worried about finding something you really like and having to drop and entire pay check for it. Most things are very afordable. Everytime I go to get a gift for someone here, I often have enough money to by myself something as well. There are Fantasic local photo’s which, you are sure to find one that reminds you of a memory in Sacramento past or present. They are only 27 $, Which is a bargin for something cool to hang on your wall. You can check it out on a second Saturday for sure.

Great little artsy kitschy shop next to Streets of London on J Street. Discovered this place on a Second Saturday Artwalk and just had to have a photographic montage of neon martini glasses. I snapped up the art, which now occupies a hallowed spot above my bar, and paid somewhere around $ 40 which felt like a bit much considering it’s simply mounted on foamcore board. But the artist built a convenient apparatus for hanging it onto the backside, which helps tremendously since I have had issues with hanging foamboard mounted prints in the past. The best part was that the owner snuck me into a nook in the back and poured me a shot of tequila for my wise purchase. The whole experience gave me a warm and fuzzy experience… of course, it could’ve been the booze. Check out this great little store for artful gifts if you haven’t done so already.

Artworks 21 has relocated to J street but the store hasn’t changed a lick. It still has the same cool unique gift items for the home. I always find myself here on Christmas Eve to shop for last minute gifts for the orphans I take care of during the holidays. I’m «Santa», and I go caroling with the owner after I buy the place out. It’s a little deal we got going. But where was I? Ah yes… Artworks 21 It has lots of cool prints of all things Sacramento. It’s a small space but he manages to fit a lot of coolness in there. I couldn’t begin to list some of the merchandise because it would not do them justice. It’s much more than an art gallery or gift shop, it’s Artworks 21. ***UPDATE*** I made up the crap about the orphans and caroling with the owner on Christmas Eve. But the rest of the review is 100% accurate!
