So the first time I was at this restaurant for dinner, a cokroach flew into our dinner from an opening in the ceiling!.. this was last year or so. Today I decided to give it another shot. I wanted some sweets. Went n got 2 lbs of assorted barfi at $ 7.99/lb. Came home all ready to enjoy the barfi and found mould on the barfi. Yes mouldy barfi not just one but a few. They were sticky when I picked em up n that’s what caused me to check them before putting it in my mouth. And I’m glad I checked! I don’t understand why Indians do this! I didn’t pay them moulded money then why do they think it’s ok to serve that kind of food. This place sukz! It’s awful that they do this. I will be going back to get my money back. I will post pics too… I would give no stars but I could not get around picking no stars… The owners should be ashamed of themselves!

Review for samosas only. They sell samosas for $.80 each! It’s yummy but it taste different every time. Like sometimes it doesn’t have spice at all, and sometimes it’s too spicy! I hope they use a recipe(measurements) so it taste the same all the time. They are kinda stingy with the sauce too:/ but overall, it’s a good restaurant. We’ll come back again and again.

AVOID this place. Over priced, portions are kids meal size. Customer service is 0, the owner needs classes on it. Quality of food is hit or miss. Two years I waited to give them food review but… This place cannot improve unless they get real professional help. Family running the show and it all depends on their moods to throw out a smile or not. Mostly no smile. I am surprised this place is still in business.

I am so bummed out not to be giving this place a good review. I used to LOVE the food here but the last three or four times I’ve ordered from here it went from so so to thoroughly dissapointing. Some of my complaints are: This time the chicken in one dish was jerky like it was so dry. Also, I asked for medium spiciness which previously here and normally at other places is a good amount of heat. enough to make me sweat without knocking me over with it. This time it was bland and lacking heat of any kind. I mean even more bland than I’ve had here when I’ve ordered mild. Boo. And I’ve noticed, as one other reviewer noted, they are getting oddly stingy with the rice. The last few times I’ve ordered take out there was only one rice in the bag when there should be one PER entrée. They give you another when you ask for it but it’s like they’re hoping you don’t notice. The first time I didn’t notice & had to make extra rice when I got home to have enough to go around. I don’t feeling like I need to remember to ask for the food I ordered and payed for because I don’t trust them to put it in the bag unless prompted to do so. Customer service is also hit or miss. A couple people there are very friendly and helpful and welcoming. A few are very«cold fish». I am very forgiving with a restaurant if their food and service are normally good but I happen to catch them on an off day. I’m sad to say that even after giving AB Indian the benefit of the doubt and returning in hopes of the return of the delicious experiences I’ve had here in the past it has continued to decline… So my loyalty must do so as well. I think it’s time to finally try Kabob N Chutney across the street next time I’m craving Indian.

OKAY. Seriously. I hope the owners read their reviews from their customers on Unilocal bc regardless if its the husband, or the wife or even the older lady working the front counter. YOUGUYSNEEDTOGOTOSCHOOLFORCUSTOMERSERVICESKILLS! They are extremely rude! PUT A DAMNSMILEONYOURFACE!!! anyhow. and they are a straight rip off!!! My boyfriend and I went back just to see if it would be different service and NOPE! ITWASWORSE. So we ordered our food for pickup. The prices and portions are all screwed up here and they are so stingy we had to ask again for the rice we ordered. Make sure when you order you check to see if you got a small or large order because they will probably charge you for the large and give you a small. LOOKWORKERS. if it comes with RICEORSAUCE dont hesitate to put it in your customers order! we paid for what we ordered so give it to us! CUSTOMERSREADINGTHIS. I DONOTEVERRECOMMENDGOINGHEREUNLESSYOUWANTYOURORDERSCREWEDUPANDRUDECUSTOMERSERVICE! If I could give them NO stars at all I would!

Pros: The lady at the register was kind and courteous. Cons: I attended for the lunch buffet. The food was higher priced than other Indian restaurants in the area. The food was bland tasting, and there was no sneeze guard over the buffet. I ate at this restaurant several months ago, and haven’t been back.

What can i say about this place i came with my husband with high hopes thinking the food will be delicious i think we were the first customer when they open in the morning they had buffet set up. So we decided to get the buffet plate for $ 8.99. i tried their butter chicken and mutton curry and their cauliflower All were blend with no salt or any spices. My first bite actually was tandoori chicken omg that taste like boiled rubber chicken from 2 weeks, just red food coloring. I didn’t eat anything i told my husband let’s pay and leave. I’m Indian myself and i know most of Indian restaurant try to accommodate American customers so they keep the heat low. But i felt like i was eating hospital food. I have been to almost all Indian restaurant this is the worst i had seen. I would never put a bad review on Unilocal about food but the owner needs to know otherwise they will be going out of business soon. The best Indian food i had so far is currey corner in natomas they also have buffet style for lunch but actually their food is fresh and tasty.

Very very good taste of India. Cook from the heart. Long time customer and I call in my orders every time & pay cash. They have my order down very well. Gravy curry, large chai tea, 6/7milk cakes & mango lasi in summer. Sometimes naan also. Best hot heart cooked indian food and sweets. Very nice to get great flavorful hot food each time I go. No complaints at all. I will indeed keep going. Male owner is polite, young ladies are ver nice smile young working ladies also. They know my order too. Place is afforable, clean, inviting and just great great tasty good indian cooking. I’ll keep going for more.

Worst chaat ever. I was surprised seeing the chaat and then eating it.
I don’t understand why desi restaurants can’t keep a good quality running. Every other item in the menu is down the line. I have tried many things. Americans might like it but for us, we know the actual taste of every thing. People go tot restaurants not to give away money for the food not worth the price. Try to maintain the quality and taste. And get the original recipes.

First time coming in to order take out. Total was $ 27-something; gave the woman $ 30 and she said thanks, didn’t even give me my change. I asked if rice came with the entrees, they said yes. I ordered two entrees and they gave me a dinky ass side of rice. Wth?! Oh, and by the way… The food wasn’t all that great. It was more on the plain and bland side; it was also very citrusy. Pretty pricey for the little amount they give and it was majority sauce with very little meat. I will not be coming back.

Unilocal you lead me off course in my search of good Indian food. :( I came here because I thought the food would be good, but I was disappointed. I ordered: a coke, samosa chaat, rice pulao, and butter chicken. My bill was $ 18.00. My thoughts: Customer service: none to a little. Samoa chaat: Samoa was good, but everything else that was smothering it was taking if down to a hell no! The raw red onions sprinkled underneath the chutney was overpowering and pungent that every bite you took was a bite of raw onion(literally). Not a good experience. Rice pulao: I felt like the rice wasn’t done all the way and it was oily. Weird. Butter chicken: I seriously think they served ius whatever they wanted and called it buttered chicken because it didn’t taste like it nor look like it.(The cook was out talking to some people and he saw us and maybe thought that Asian people didn’t know what we were eating… idk but just a thought.) Butter chicken that I’ve had in the past, has usually always been a red orange color, but this butter chicken was green with small pieces of chicken. Coke: best item ordered. Overall: I didn’t try the desserts but maybe it’s really good. My advice is maybe go for the dessert if you like Indian desserts and avoid the food at all costs!

Have been to this place, referred by a friend. I ordered a Chicken Biriyani and few sweets to go. they packed it nicely, have tasted some samples as well. but honestly this is work chicken biriyani I ever tasted, if you have tasted any Indian food, you may know the pain I had the other day. No raita or a gravy has been given with biriyani, sweets were bad except one(packed 3). came home and opened the pack to see Chicken Kichidi(Rice with Chicken), we use lot of spices to make this Chicken biriyani. I will never recommend this place to any one. Worst food, Pricey.

It was my first time here. Their food was actually really good. I tried their lunch buffet while I was there. I didn’t know the names to the food since there was no sign to tell me what I was eating which was a little risky lol but it was good overall. There wasn’t much to choose from the buffet so that’s kind of eh. The service was very good and they were generous too. Baked us fresh naan(if that’s what it’s called) id probably come back

4 stars just for the sweets — Gulab jamun and Rasgulla were really good. My husband enjoyed Rasmalai also. They have a huge selection of authentic Indian sweets and several customers seemed to be buying sweets in bulk. Their lunch buffet was below average though. All the vegetarian dishes tasted bland.

Ida and I have been going to AB Indian for years. Everyone is always super friendly and make us feel right at home. We both love Indian food and AB Indian is only two minutes from our house. However, we have not gone in the last few months because we were afraid the food would be too salty for my low sodium diet. Tonight we were having a hard time making up our minds where to go for dinner so we decided to drop in and ask them if they had anything I could eat. They were kind of surprised by my question. They explained that they make everything fresh so they could make me almost anything on the menu without adding any salt. I was sure they were not going to have anything I could eat and we would have to go elsewhere so you can imagine how happy I was. After pondering the menu for a few minutes we decided on Baingan Bhartha which is eggplant baked in a clay oven with onions, tomatoes and spices; mushroom mattar with peas and onions, and fish curry. We also ordered naan and pulao rice. We were careful to stay away from dishes that contained cheese. While we waited and all through dinner there was a steady stream of people coming into AB Indian to pick-up food to go or buy some of the sweets they are so famous for. Only a couple of other people chose to be seated and eat their dinner at the restaurant. I think we were the only non Indian people to come in so that kind of tells you they are pretty well accepted by the Indian community in our area. It took a little longer to get our food since everything was being cooked fresh in order to cater to my special culinary needs. Since I have lowered my salt intake, I tend to taste a much larger scale of flavors in my food. At first food tasted unbearably boring and bland but now I have begun to detect a whole new bouquet of flavors I never knew existed. Believe me, most of you would have taken a bite and said my food needed salt. I on the other hand was blown away at the incredible blend of delicate flavors and left with a whole new appreciation for Indian cooking. Now if I could only find a small Thai restaurant that would cater to my special needs. PS A lot of people have been asking me why I have been writing so may review updates lately. I want to review as many places as possible that cater to people like me that have low sodium diets. I am hoping it will be helpful for other people that have the same health problems as I do.

I’m so glad I work next door to AB Indian! They have a great lunch deal: you pick 2 items from their lunch buffet, plus you get rice, salad, a basket of naan, and a drink for less than $ 8! Holy cow, who can argue with that? I mean the food selection isn’t huge but the food is consistently good, the price is right, and the service is very nice. They also have a big front counter of Indian sweets and candies. Haven’t tried those yet(because I’m usually so full from lunch, haha!) but I’ll try them soon.
