I know you’re going to pay when you lock your keys in your car. And oh, did I pay. My problem with these guys: the ‘no-charge estimate’. When I called, I asked for a ballpark number. They said they couldn’t give one until they saw the car(apparently, unlocking a newer model sedan is a unique request…), but that there would be no charge unless their technician touched the car. Fair enough. Then the guy shows up and quotes $ 140 — way higher than the other estimates I found here(none of which answered the phone…). So, I passed. Oh, except that I still needed to pay the $ 40 service call fee, whether he helped me or not. No mention of that on the phone. The technician said the dispatchers often neglect to tell people that, and agreed to take the hit on the service fee and take it up with the company himself. His new bargain rate: $ 90. Not the worst price, but not the best either. And certainly not worth the shake down.
