Sad. I wanted to try this place but sign said they lost their lease! Not sure if the will open somewhere else or not. Hopefully they will!

Ian L., are you the owner? You really took those comments personal. I can see your passion but the way you spoke to her was kinda harsh. I know she reviewed the place prior to checking it out and should not have reviewed it until tasting the food I agree strongly, but when Unilocalers look at your page, it was the first thing we saw(your response to her). That said I can’t wait to try this place and give a full and fair review.

Look i totally understand you are defending your business I am one person who unfortunately because of one person at your front counter gave me a bad first impression. HENCE I Am ENTITLED to my personal opinion about the experience. It’s a public form. However the professional thing would have been to apologize that YOUR staff misinformed me. And for you to then give me the accurate information which in turn would have worked to get me to possibly change my mind. YETYOU choose to be a defensive D**che speaking to me as if I am your child. &$$$#@/@%@@@ I HOPEEVERYONEREADINGTHISSEESHOW Rude you have spoken to me and doesn’t want to ever support your business. Maybe the employees at the front count should share the same knowledge about your product. You are a real charmer. Maybe learn how to be a little more tactful when speaking to people.

This place is a MUST try! I absolutely loved the food! So much so, I bought an extra piece of Cod to make me pleasantly plump for the night after I got home! Attentive, friendly, helpful staff. If you have questions, ask! They are happy to help. Amazing food! Great variety! THIS is the«something new» you have been looking for. THIS is the break from your cheeseburger dinner. Kids love Popcorn Shrimp?,…Well you’re in luck cause their’s are tops! The fish IS fresh and not preformed. Unless you get fish stix! The Cod is fresh. The Haddock is fresh. The Shepard’s Pie is Handmade and limited quantities! So, Short and Sweet,… First, If you’re using the reviews below to help you make up your mind, DON’T! I see no validity in the statements below from my experience, and, the owner answered back! Look and see how many businesses actually have an owner who cares enough to respond to people’s reviews! And get NO answer back from the complaintants. Next,…The Food, Service and Ambiance are stellar! I was hesitant at first and found it was only cause it was new to me! Once I walked through the door and tried the food, I kicked myself for ever having questioned whether to try it or not. AND,…they WILL run out of items. Which is a GOOD thing! 1. It’s Fresh! 2. It’s Handmade! 3. It’s a reason to come back and get it next time! Finally, I am highly impressed with the cost and quality of the food being served here. I highly suggest you give them a try. You’ll be glad you did. I am!

By far the worst fish n chips I’ve ever had. Seriously, you can just go to the grocery store and buy a box of Gordon’s fish sticks and you are better off. The fish were definitely preformed and frozen. All were shaped like a trapezoid and were as thin as the French fries. How can you promote yourself as a fish and chips restaurant and serve that?

Went for the first(and last) time with my wife today for lunch. They were out of Salmon, and also out of Shepherds pie; they could have been out of a few more things too but, I only made it through 2 completely different items on the menu before finding something that was available midday on a Friday. The nice person at the counter term was friendly but could I could barely make out what she was saying thru a mumbling, very quiet voice as she explained what wasn’t available on the menu. Apparently, there are two different types of french fries available but we weren’t asked or given an option, so my wife had skinny fries and I had fat fries and to us the fat fries were the better of the two. Between the fries, Cod, Halibut and chicken & mushroom piece ordered there was absolutely no seasoning or flavoring in any of the food. Ketchup, Vinegar and tartar sauce couldn’t even save the day. I’d have easily overlooked the very slippery\greasy dining room floor, if the fish was flavorful tho…

A very pleasant young woman greeted us to an entirely empty restaurant with a great smile and a cheery«hello». It was Friday night about 7 pm and i thought there might be a few more people. We looked over the menu and she explained the difference between the two styles of fish and chips offered — American(frozen, pre-battered fish) versus British(fresh fish battered per order). There were 2 sizes — super and regular. Here’s where i let my assumption get in the way and the lady taking the order didn’t tell us the difference between the two. My dining companion and I assumed that the super had 2 pieces of fish for about $ 4 more than the regular. he ordered the super and I ordered the regular. Low and behold, the super contained 1(ONE) piece of fish on a super sized platter with double fries!(See my photos) the regular came on a dinner size plate with fewer fries and — piece of fish as well. Once served, the young lady checked on us and we asked about ordering a second piece of fish and she said«no problem» and when we asked the cost, she said something incomprehensible about«floaters» and that there would be no charge. She promptly bought the fish. I’m unsure of what the size thing was all about or why there was no charge for the second piece of fish. I think that is a failing in their menu to not explain that super means more fries NOT more fish — $ 4 more fries! I was disappointed in the quality of the fish — not very crispy and the fries were not exceptional. With the exception of the pleasant counter lady, i found nothing here meriting my return. I’ve never been to England. We’re going in the Fall. I’ll see how 007 Fish and Chips compares. I think Cap’n D’s may be a cut above this place.

We’ve received several messages from the owner informing us the bad management is gone and all is back to normal. We weren’t about to drive that far for the experience we had last time so had not returned. We had business in the area today and found ourselves passing 007 F&C and felt we had a responsibility to stop. We went in dubious and stood there looking to see if they had fish other than cod and to see if there was any English items on the board. Then we met Jack! He is English so that was the first good sign. Jack cares about the restaurant and is passionate about fixing what others sought to ruin while he and the owner were away. He recommended the Haddock whic is what’s served in Whitby. We have great memories of F&C’s in Whitby and went with it. Unlike last time the the fish came out glistening and the batter perfect. Everything was served on a long platter rather than a squished, tiny plate. We ordered the curry sauce which was a tasty extra and appreciated by the scouse in the family. I am really sorry the owner trusted people who took advantage of him and could have ruined the reputation of the restaurant. I loved the food today and look forward to returning. I can’t think of better fish and chips in the area. also Jack is delightful!

Today was 4th time here but the first time I’m reviewing the place. They’ve recently changed their menu. Now, they serve either«UK style» or US Style fish and chips(or fish and fries of course). I stuck with the UK style, after all, that’s why you come here yes? The service was very good. The young man taking my order was very polite, explained the different styles to me, took my order, brought my food, and took my plate when I was done. I love the authentic English style thick cut chips, and the freshly battered fish was fresh and perfectly battered. I don’t come here that often because it’s a diet-buster, and I can’t afford this luxury very often, but this is exactly the kind of place we need to see succeed and thrive. Five stars for the food and the service. Only one minor complaint: the floor was a little sticky near the soda machine, but that is a minor inconvenience. I’ll come back here as often as my waistline allows!

Nope… don’t bother. We showed up 2 minutes after they were supposed to open and they told us, in not so nice a way, to come back in about 30 minutes. Instead of putting a bad review on Unilocal,I decided to send an e-mail to the owner in case it was a one time thing… HEDIDN’T EVENTAKETHETIMETORESPOND. The food was just okay when we went there before… they won’t be in business very long.

I have had the pleasure of eating here on more than one occasion I absolutely love the garlic fries with a piece of cod… I have tried many other fish and chips places and really never found them to be actually authentic I’m not going to lie I have had a time or two where I ordered and it could have been better but that’s OK most people need help to work out kinks an such but I can honestly say since they got new employees this place has gotten better a lot better. The owner and his nephew both know what they are doing they both seem to really enjoy there business So I would recommend coming down and giving authentic fish and chips a try. if you don’t like fish that’s fine they have a selection of things even for the young ones. the inside is amazing, the décor is amazing… the projector brings back childhood memories. the posters that cover the walls are absolutely astonishing. the outside seating is convenient for those that love outdoors with an old Telephone booth that is fire engine red and in the are there is a fireplace and water fountain in sight.

SUCKS now. The ownership has change, and so has the food quality. Now we’re talking greasy, under or overcooked fish — and now longer Haddock, the best F&C fish ever. This was short lived *sigh* No more English Fish & Chips :*(

I know the owner is probably going to respond to this message and I am not leaving this negative review to be hateful so I was already nervous leaving this review knowing he comments on so many reviews. This was our second time here. We came here shortly after it opened and were less than impressed. We assumed they needed some time to get the jitters out, and we came back today to give it a try. First, the obvious boredom of the girl behind the counter seems indicative of their customer service. She sucked her teeth, rolled her eyes and in general made it seem like taking our order was a huge inconvenience to her. As soon as we sat down she went a foot outside the door to smoke(please move a little further away next time) and then came inside(didn’t wash her hands gross) and immediately went back to texting on her stool behind the counter. She may not have been cooking but she carried the plates to the other guests and it is just icky not to wash your hands after you smoke at work. Next was the wait. It was a Friday night, one table sitting ahead of us and one person waiting for a to-go order. We waited for our food for 45 minutes. Now, at least we know it’s fresh you say… and this is true. But unless you are catching the fish when I order it, it shouldn’t take almost an hour for food that is ALLFRIED. Last is the food itself. The portions are huge, and the man that brought them to our table was very nice. Which is why they get two stars. But that is where it ends. The breading looks perfect. It’s a gorgeous brown, no oil coating it and thin and crispy. Then you take a bite. It has absolutely no seasoning. No salt, no flavor. Nothing. A small amount of salt would go a LONG way to improving the taste. The Cajun fries looked yummy as well… until I took a bite. They were cold(WHATWEWAITEDTHATLONGFORCOLDFRIES???) and not cooked all the way through. In the end I WANTED to love the place. My favorite part of Natomas is all of the small business choices we have here. I enjoy the culture and variety in such a small place. And someplace that loves Gunther’s as much as I do has to be great. Sadly they aren’t great, and haven’t taken the feedback they have been given as a way to improve.

My new favorite place in Natomas! I was craving fish and chips the other day and found this place on Unilocal.I ordered over the phone for a pick up order of cod and chips and the chicken wings spicy. They were done in ten minutes and cost 17 bucks altogether. So Good! The wings spicy are the best, super crunchy with great spice. The cod is good, just like I’ve had in London before. The fries are super good too, totally enjoyed the meal. Will definitely be back

The food is very bland and needs some serious seasoning. Severely too oily and pricey. The fish and chips here can get better perhaps by using better seasoning.

Don’t show up on a Sunday at 4:00. After our experience left me wondering what went wrong with our visit, that’s the only explanation that comes to mind. So disappointing, after having such high hopes for a new unique and reasonably priced local dining spot. Things were off to a bad start when we were informed that two of the four items we wanted to order were out of stock. No steak & mushroom or chicken & mushroom pie… ok, flank steak turnover it is. The U.S. was playing Portugal in a now infamous tie in the World Cup, so we had thought it would be great to watch part of the game here. It wasn’t on. The young guy taking our orders was kind enough to rectify that, but the only viewing option is a very large projection screen that’s barely visible in the daylight. Sound quality was about on par with the picture, definitely not making for an ideal sports viewing situation. First item up was the flank steak turnover. I liked the pastry on this, but the filling was a bit of a disappointment. It was flavorful, but there wasn’t enough of it. Pretty loaded with peas, too. If you like peas, it’s great, me… I kinda prefer steak(and ‘shrooms!). The chicken wings were really tasty. We got the mild version and they had a fantastic savory spice blend on them. Served dry(no messy sauce on the outside), they were a perfect crisp on the outside with a nice, juicy interior. The cod & chips were the biggest letdown. I took a tip from another reviewer and ordered the fries well done, but I think my request got completely ignored because these were some limp spuds. The fish had a nice, light batter, but absolutely no flavor and it was very greasy. I so wish more places would season the fish before they batter it. Just doesn’t cut it to add salt after it’s cooked. The dining room was spotless, so big plus there. We didn’t experience the warm service that others have mentioned, but the two young guys were cordial. One definite honorable mention-they serve Gunther’s ice cream! The biggest disappointment is to not be posting a four or five star review. I hope others continue to have better experiences than me so this place stays alive. For now, the only reason I’d be coming back is to grab a scoop of that ice cream.

Maybe they should change it to 007 Chips and Fish because that is what you get a LOT of. Not like that’s a bad thing, I loved the thick cut french fries, but man, they could easilly drop the amount of money they charge you and save some costs themselves if they cut back on the drastic amount of fries they put on the plate. We estimated there was enough fries on the plate that was made of 4 potatoes or maybe even more. But the fish we had was the large size, which was a good size and came piping hot and not greasy. They cook the food in avocado oil which I had never heard of, but hey if you tell me I can eat«healthy» and fried in the same sentence, I’ll take it! Also had a side of gravy to douse our fries in, but it was just okay in my opinion. If you want a spot of tea, yes, they offer that. They also have some other English standards like bangers and mash, fried sausages, quite a few beers, and even a candy rack with some items I’ve never seen. On the screen was Skyfall, which was a nice touch. I really hope this place sticks around, as it’s invisible from the street, and the parking lot is designed poorly. Natomas needs small businesses like this.

New fish and chips spot in an area that doesnt hold back on either. I had the haddock and chips plenty of food for one person. Friends got the cod and that was huge! Easily could feed two. We ordered the large(10.95) but they have a small option(8.95) as well. If you are in natomas and crave some good ol fish n chips then hit this place up.

After tux shopping all morning we were STARVING and decided to check out 007 Fish & Chips. I’m really excited about this new addition to Natomas. Not only do they serve something different from all the other chains and restaurants in the neighborhood, they are also as Devo said, «Boody good!» From what I’ve read and experienced this place fully embodies the character of the UK– from their décor and portion sizes down to hours of operation. Since we were all hungry we each got the Full Haddock and Chips. I also ordered a side of gravy for the chips and pot of tea. To my surprise the portions were huge and there were an abundant amount of fries. The fish was delicious and I loved the tartar sauce! The batter was crispy, light and and fish thick and meaty. The fries were thick cut and everything fried was in avocado oil. I think we each only ate about ¼ of our fries(and that was even with us starving)! The gravy was alright. I think I’ll just stick with vinegar and more tartar sauce next time. The pot of tea? Well it was a large pot of English tea and was perfect for washing all the fried fish and fries! The owner was was really friendly and helpful in deciding what size fish to order. He had 2 remote controls on the counter to compare sizes. The place is very clean and they were playing 007. Next time I’m in the mood for good fish and chips I’m glad we won’t have to make the trek downtown and hassle with parking since 007 Fish & Chips is right down the street!

Bloody good. I mean, really authentic fish and chip shop here in Natomas. Love it. I’m BEGGING you people… come try it out and keep coming back so it stays open. Natomas is sorely lacking in anything new that’s not Asian or Mexican, and having an option of real fish & chips beyond Streets of London in West Sac(that’s near to me: I’m aware of Fox & Goose and Stirling Bridges) is great. Anyway, read the reviews here on Unilocal that the place is open, so made sure I came by for lunch today after all my shopping. I love the red telephone box out front. I love the decorations all over the walls inside(pic of the Tube and James Bond included). I love that the nice kid who took my order is British(I totally understood him, having lived in England for 12 years). I love the choices of British drinks, beyond the fountain Coke products. I love the menu, in that you can choose haddock or cod(cod, man… that’s what I grew up eating), but there’s also bangers and mash, sheperd’s pie, and battered sausages(my second favorite thing, which I will try next time). I love the rack of British candies you can buy to nosh on later. I love the vinegar and two different HP Sauces in the tables for condiments. I love that even though it took a bit to get my food after ordering, it’s because the British owner/cook was painstakingly teaching his protégé how to do it right. First accuracy, then speed… well played, sir! Of course, I love the fish and chips; my large cod and chips ran $ 12.95, plus my $ 1.50 soda, came to $ 15.55. And it was a LARGE order! The haddock option is cheaper($ 10.95 for the large order). Both the cod and haddock also come in a cheaper small order, or a more expensive, bigger Jumbo order. The batter was light and crispy and yummy. The chips were chips, not french fries. Spot on, guv’ner! Also, be aware that, like a true European shop, they’re open for lunch, close for a few hours, then reopen for dinner. Nice! Lastly, they’re only taking CASH right now until they get the credit card system set up. Be prepared and have CASH on you… just sayin’. Ok, so have I conveyed how much I looooove this place?! I plan on returning often, but I can’t keep this place afloat by myself. Give it a try, yanks! You’ll be gobsmacked at how good it is, like I was. :)
