I recently discovered this hidden gem & love it. Great atmosphere, great coffee and there are many healthy food item choices. However, the pastries are also quite delicious.

Had chili at York Village Marketfest. Not cooked enough and had everything but the kitchen sink in it Threw it out.

Very disappointing. I live in Rye and I have always wished for a cute little café minutes away from my home, with wholesome and fresh options. However this café is anything but that, despite offering locally made soaps and massage oils(which was maybe the only thing I did like)… I ordered a veggie burrito, and it was awful. It was something I could have made at home, but then I would be insulting my own cooking. It fell apart, the salsa tasted very generic, the beans were hard and it was overall a waste of money. Nothing was fresh. I also ordered a peach smoothie and it tasted like nothing! Which is a sign of either using freezer burned fruit, or maybe old frozen produce? It’s sad to see a place like this open. Why open a café if nothing is fresh or homemade? I will not be back. And I’m not sure of many Rye locals that go here either, with a good experience.

Not very good. I ordered the buffalo wrap. The chicken was over cooked. Threw more than ½ away. Will not go back. I should’ve known it was lunchtime and I was the only one there. Atlantic Grill is across the street. thats where I originally went but they don’t open until 4.

We had lunch delivered to the office and everybody was pretty satisfied with this find. Already talking about what we would get next time!

The atmosphere of this little market & café is devine. I really loved the selection of all things local — chocolates, beer, books and the baked goods looked heavenly. The people working there were very nice, quite pleasant. However my chicken curry wrap was just terrible and such a disappointment! There was way too much curry and it was a heated sandwich — big mistake there. The combo of spices just didn’t go — something was greatly missing. Because of all the other positive aspects I will go back and try something different.

The worst pizza ever! Undercooked and inedible. We gave it a shot but never again! We just can’t like this food, not a good experience

I just ate a wonderful Cali Wrap today. Instead of a wrap, they were kind enough to put it in a bowl for me. Such a satisfying breakfast. Great location, too. I like to grab a couple sandwiches on the way to the beach… if the weather would cooperate!

A stop at the Serenity café always makes me feel like i’m on vacation. Laid back, nothing stuffy or formal, just great food served fresh and only a stone’s throw from the beach. Great grab and goes. And books by local authors. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches are top notch! The combinations they put together are unique and delicious. The Cali Wrap is my favorite! Eggs, goat cheese, roasted veggies, homefries, avocado, all with a sriracha swirl. We all love the breakfast pizza. The crust tastes like a croissant, light and airy, topped with scrambled eggs which are topped with yummies like cheese, sausage, bacon, roasted red peppers, basil, broccoli … you get the idea. Decent coffee bar that often needs attention on busy mornings — it takes a long time to brew a whole pumper pot. That would be my only negative critique. Jacky, the owner, is usually too busy to visit with the customers but when she does find a minute, she is very personable and very interested in what her customers like, don’t like, and any suggestions. Her partner is a sweetheart of a guy and is the perfect first impression when he’s on the counter. I eat here with my husband, sister, and/or any friend who’s hungry for great food. Never disappointed.

Slow service I walked in and the person behind the counter said hi then walked away to clean tables and didn’t even ask me if I wanted to order. Everything looks stale, the place looks dirty and is overpriced.

Had just an okay experience for our first visit so we tried one more time today and will not be coming back. Both times we were there something was missing from our order. My husband and I both ordered two eggs any style that come with a choice of meat, toast and home fries. We asked for home fries and bacon and gluten free toast. When our meal arrived it was without the home fries and bacon. We had already paid for our food so when they later brought us the missing home fries and bacon we were asked to pay for them and the girl behind the counter said she forgot that the gluten free bread was an extra charge so she also charged us for that. Pretty annoying, and the food wasn’t that great at all. Definitely will not be going back.

I WOULDHIGHLY recommend this place to a friend. THENITTYGRITTY: A great place to get a fresh, great tasting organic meal. Friendly staff and a lot of variety. THEDETAILS: I went here with my family to stop in for a quick bite and it’s just as good if not better than I remember from the first time I was here a while ago. I got the carrot ginger soup which was awesome. My son and daughter got the cheese pizza slices and my son even ate the crust which just doesn’t happen. My wife got the sweet dreams smoothie and raved how delicious it was. We got a Maine root company ginger beer and root beer which is organic and super tasty. All of this was about $ 20 which is a little on the pricy side but considering the quality of food was well worth it. The service was exceptional and the staff seemed genuinely interested in serving you up the best tasting food in the area. This place was like a café, an organic market and a convenience store had a baby, it’s interesting with lots of variety. Highly recommended.

This place has so much potential, however it is so poorly run, that the hours are not posted, website hours conflict with actual hours, you call and they tell you one time and then practically throw you out an hour in advance, refuse to make food even a half hour before closing, have turned away customers each time I am there. Service is near the slowest on the Seacoast, staff is untrained, but location, chocolates, and baked goods are fresh. Mood is laid back, and a bit off the beaten path. Soups are frozen, not fresh, and they tend to use the microwave a lot! Like I said environment is a plus, must be willing to risk taking the drive and then being told they are closing.

Welcome addition to Fours Corner at the rotary in Rye. I stop in often for coffee and a sweet or breakfast. Love the chocolate covered Twinkies and Orios when I am bringing something home for the family.

Yum! Stopped in for just a quick drink, but everything looked so delicious, we decided to stay for lunch. What a find! Nothing fancy about the place, but two days later, I’m still thinking and talking about the sandwich I had. It was the daily special, super fresh, housemade tender roast beef, tomato, lettuce and homemade pesto grilled on focaccia bread. OHMY! My iced mocha was made with real chocolate and they have some lovely baked goods. We can’t wait to return to try breakfast or their other sandwiches. But, it will be hard not to beg for that one again!

What’s in a name? The Friendly Toast is anything but friendly while this café is certainly serene and pleasant. And friendly.

The high schooler taking our order didn’t know how to make change and was very incompetent. But I got the hummus wrap and it was delicious, my friend loved her turkey sandwich too. The food came out quickly as well. We also got smoothies and those were great.

On my way over to Wentworth By The Sea, I stopped in for a late afternoon lunch at Serenity Café, located next to the Roundabout(Foyes Corner), remnants of the old Elwyn Road still remain next to the building. This café serves up breakfast(all day) and lunch items in a comfortable and casual atmosphere, with an open kitchen, glass display counters, and self serve table seating, all situated in one big room with high ceilings. It sort of feels like being in a clean warehouse. They offer Free Wi-Fi too! There’s also seating outside too. The menu offerings include breakfast & lunch sandwiches & wraps, homemade salads, NY style pizza, quiche, soups, chowders, fruit smoothies, coffee & tea drinks, Gifford’s Ice Cream, and baked goods. Dinners to go, as well as fresh fruit & jams and gluten-free products are also available. The prices are on the moderate side, a la carte sandwiches & wraps are $ 6.75(plus tax) and a whole cheese pizza starts at $ 13. For takeout, I ordered a Broccoli Salad Wrap and Beef Burrito, which was made to order while I read the local paper. I did use a Buy One Get One Half Off coupon I had printed off the web. The total for two items with the discount came out to just under $ 10. The food tasted pretty good. The Broccoli Salad Wrap was rolled in a spinach wrap(my choice) had fresh crunchy broccoli, baby spinach, dried cranberries, Asiago cheese, pumpkin seeds, and a tangy dressing. The Beef Burrito was a bit messy to eat, stuffed in a garlic wrap with a hearty/slightly sweet tasting beef chili with black beans, cheddar cheese, salsa, & sour cream. Overall, Serenity Market & Café is a nice place to stop to grab a bite to eat and relax, located near the Coast. (3.4 stars)
