This place is horrible. The place down the street is just as bad, the guy running that kitchen used to run RGS. No wonder they both suck. Breakfast is poor, how can they mess up eggs?! Takes forever. The store is poorly stocked too, these owners are so cheap. I live 4 houses away and I still just drive to The Hungry Horse. It’s a damn shame.

Best fried fish sandwich I’ve ever had, literally.

Wow. Just. .. wow. One of the other reviewers nailed it by identifying the employees as moving at a super duper glacial pace. I can honestly say that I was offended by their utter lack of urgency. I’ve witnessed sloths and snails make sandwiches faster than these twats. Watching them assemble my terribly lackluster BLT wrap(without Mayonaise!) — — - — - — Ok… It’s been nearly eight months since I started this review, but I remember perfectly the gist of what I was trying to convey. So here I go… again: The two preppers/putter-togethers(the ones making the orders) were so slow, yes, but I think it was also quite painstakingly evident that they were high on the ol’ Marijuana. Couple of Doobie Brothers were they. I was offended. Be a worthless, moronic slacker on your own time, but when you’re making me a f**king wrap, sharpen up, you pathetic hippies! Ok, they were slow, got it. The wrap itself: Lettuce, tomato slice, and maybe a strip of bacon. That’s it. Tasteless, essentially, and did I mention that it was the size of my fist. For a quarter this may have been acceptable but I seem to recall it being $ 6-$ 7. Don’t get me started on the girlfriend’s salad. .. This was a NICKEL salad for, again, upwards of $ 5-$ 7. She shared my complete dismay, needless to say. It’s utterly reprehensible the way this«general store» is run. They used to be great, before they were a GS, but now they’re not even worthy of my piss. Rye, down by the beach, desperately needs a fun, cool diner-y type establishment. A place to get a good, cheap burger, a place to have a beer at the bar amongst friends. If anyone were smart, they’d clear this shit hole out, and, should zoning regulations permit it, put a low key bar/luncheon/diner there instead. RGS is deplorable. Also, if I catch those same nitwit stoners there again this summer, I’m going straight up narc on their asses. Don’t f**k with my food, you pansy bi*ches.

RGS deserves nothing more than a deuce. Don’t get me wrong, the food, décor, general atmosphere is 3 – 4 easy and a huge improvement from its predecessor in this location; HOWEVER, and this is a big HOWEVER, can someone please light a fire under the backsides of the workers??? If it were not for the convenient location, I would never return. I have no idea what the hiring and screening criterion are but pace, urgency, can-do attitude are not amongst them. Slowness might be acceptable once in a while but I’m telling you, after 10+ visits, each and every employee is set on super duper glacial pace. Here is the kicker. Every employee is less than 25. Are they out partying every night and can’t get it going in the morning? Do I need to start weeping for the future now? Management(is there any? — I never see an adult in the joint) and ownership need to wake up and smell the coffee. The place has incredible potential but as previous operations have seen in this spot, the end is right around the corner.

Bottom line: A great place to visit and eat. A perfect«Beach general store»! Breakfasts and lunches are exactly what you would expect to find on the beach, with one change-the food here is not a typical beach place. It is actually very good. Have had breakfast there 20 plus times this summer, and have never been disappointed. Try the Breakfast Parfait-superb. The staff, although a bit inexperienced and still learning the ropes, is very attentive, polited and very helpful. Hopefully, the owners will get some of them back next summer. Never any pressure for tables. I eat at the counter and always make new friends and frequently re-connect with old ones. And, b/t/w, it’s inexpensive. Scale of 1 – 5, with 5 the highest, I rate it a 4.9. Jack
