This place is consistently good. Great sushi. Great hibachi meals. I love the shrimp and filet with fried rice. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was the salad they give you is made from crappy iceberg lettuce. The ginger dressing is yummy though. The only other issue I have is that the prices have gone up quite a bit, but hey, for a splurge night once in awhile it’s worth it.

it’s not fresh but it’s good. the stuffed jalapenos are… well they are good but not the best. i’ll probably stop coming when anthony quits. he makes me laugh something fierce and he’s a nerd so it’s cool.

We went here for Sushi last night and doubt we’ll ever go back. We got about 5 different rolls and nothing was all that great. Definitely had way better sushi for the price.

There was no wait on a Saturday night for a table at the hibachi grill. Great start! The chef was entertaining, the food was tasty… had to wait a bit for refills on drinks. The martinis were delicious. Other hibachi grill restaurants are better, but we would come here again.

This is my all time favorite hibachi and sushi place. We’ve been eating at Kyoto for years and the service and staff are the best! The bar has great drinks and yummy hot sake. They have great happy hour specials as well.

One of my favorite sushi places! Good service and food. I’m craving it just thinking about it. I like the tempura!

It’s very sad that a restaurant with such a beautiful location and such well prepared and tasty food has such bad service. Our party of 7 tonight received such poor service from our waiter that it almost seemed like a joke. He came to take our drink orders with a frown and that attitude never improved. We had to ask for menus and silverware and he responded with, «Didn’t they give you any?» He became irritated when we weren’t ready to order immediately yet we had just received the menus. Our meals were served at different times. One plate came out, then 5 minutes later the next arrived and so on. The first person was almost finished eating by the time the last received their plate. Was the food good? Definitely! Are the prices steep? Definitely! Is the bad service acceptable because the food is good? Absolutely not.

We have had dinner here three times already so this is not our first outing at Kymoto and each time the food and service has digressed. We had birthday dinner reservations for 7:00 pm and we were not seated until 8:30 pm, closing time is 9:30 pm. The shrimp was cooked to rubber texture. The chef said that it was due to poor delivery of small shrimp rather than bite size shrimp. None of us ate the shrimp and there were a total of 9 persons seated at the hibachi cooking table. Not once was there an offer to substitute the shrimp or to have it discounted from the check. I had to speak to the manager several times about seating time, service and to bring the birthday cake that I provided so they could bring it to the birthday girl with their«happy birthday» song. Because it was closing time by the time it was cake time, they chose to shorten the ritual and rush the song. Once we gave them our credit cards, they automatically added gratuity to my card and provided a line for you to add more gratuity. I had to call my credit card company and tell them that I wanted the gratuity taken off of my bill. The amount of money that we paid at this place for what we received was terrible. You can pay this money at a much finer restaurant and receive better food and service. What a disappointment on a birthday evening.

I just love this place! Favorite is the rowlett roll. Salmon is always fresh. They have half price bottles of wine on Thursdays

This is my favorite hibachi place! The staff is always so friendly. They have the best chicken teriyaki. You can ask for extra egg in the fried rice, our personal hack! They also have a variety of other sauces you can ask to bring out. And you got a finish off your meal with the green tea ice cream!

Service was excellent, drinks good, and sushi delicious. A little pricey but overall good. 5 dollar up charge to substitute something in a roll. Tom, our waiter, was excellent.

The food here is all you could possibly hope for in a sushi or hibachi restaurant BUT the service we received here was ABSOLUTELYUNACCEPTABLYAWFUL!!! We went as a group of about 10 to celebrate my friend’s birthday as we were eating the complimentary salad served with the hibachi dinner, the birthday girl almost choked on a rubber band that had been hiding in her salad. When we showed the manager what we’d fished out of the salad, he looked at us and said«I guess you want another salad.» like he was the one who was mad at US!!!(By the way, we did not want another salad after that!) Making matters worse, the hibachi chef came out and behaved VERYRUDELY towards my husband, ignoring him as he took orders from the rest of the group. He then proceeded to flick a very hot piece of fried egg in my husband’s face while screaming at him, «Wake up sleepy boy!» We never got an apology from anyone for what could have been a medical emergency had my friend choked on the rubber band in her salad… or for the rude treatment of my husband at the hibachi table. I honestly don’t care how good the food is at Kyoto, it does not overcome their complete lack of service to us — we had been regular repeat customers of Kyoto and will never set foot inside this place again

Loved this place. The food is delicious and you get a lot. I had the hibachi shrimp. Soooo good. The atmosphere is very pleasant. If you come here. Go while you have time. This isn’t a fast food service kind of place. But it’s not frustrating because it gives you time to visit with your party.

I used to love this restaurant, but things have changed. I’ve always ordered the tempura with vegetables. The last few times the tempura has been awful. The shrimp it’s undercooked and the amount of grease and oil literally can be poured into a bottle. I took a pic as an example — and no, those aren’t shadows in the lace Doiley– it’s oil. Yuck. Need I say more?

Dear Lord! Do yourself a favor and get the Honey Moon. It’s an app unlike any you’ve had — fried jalapeño/crab heaven in a delectable sweet soy? sauce. Better than any honeymoon I’ve been on ;) Don’t miss the hibachi or sushi, too.

It’s not terrible. Overall everything had a lack of flavor. We had the filet mignon and teriyaki steak. Flavorless and over cooked. Good family spot for those not picky. Seated us right away on a Friday night… should of turned back then.

The food is excellent, that’s for sure. The service sucks — incredible bad. The two conflict each other. There are many sushi places that have fantastic sushi and WAY better service than this. This is how bad it was: when we were sitting and chatting, my friend and me, they TURNED out the lights of the dining room we were in instead of telling us the restaurant was closing. We didn’t know that, so why would you literally put us in the dark? That is beyond ridiculous. I’m not going to go into detail about the food because I strongly recommend going elsewhere because of such bad service.

My wife and I love this place. Although I would consider Kyoto a hibachi place do not overlook the sushi bar. This was the place that started our love of sushi. The sushi bar has a great menu and the sushi chefs are great. For the sushi novice try the spicy vegetable roll, the spicy shrimp roll, or the Rowlett roll. The hibachi part of the restaurant is your typical right person table. They do have a few larger combined grills for large groups. The hibachi food is good to very good. The presentation is as good as of the chain hibachi grills. Plenty of food. My wife and I can usually share the meat portion and pay for an extra salad/soup/veggies/rice. One of the great things about Kyoto is that we can meet our friends there that do not like sushi, but they love the hibachi menu. We can get a table towards the back of the restaurant and they can get what they want and we can order from the sushi menu. Overall the wait staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. Kyoto also has a very nice bar with a few TVs going. The bartenders are friendly and the crowd is lively. The restaurant can be loud and you can have a pretty long wait on the weekends if you did not make a reservation. Kyoto has a great patio that has fantastic views of the lake. The problem is they are close enough to the lake that bugs are a problem. They really need to invest in some sort of screening system and the patio would be awesome.
