I ordered to go on Saturday, while ordering food on the phone lady started yelling at her employee. Ok that’s fine if you are busy that’s understandable although it was bit rude. I ordered 4 rolls she said to come in 20 minutes. Went there waited 50 mins still nothing came out. Of course while I was waiting there no one cared to ask if they could help. I finally got fed up and went up to the sushi bar that’s when they started making my food. Such bad experience I will never go back.

This is a review for order pick up. They made 4 rolls less than 30 minutes. The Superman Burrito roll and bikini roll was my favorite of the four. I didn’t think it was enough but I was content with eating two of my rolls. Nice service during pick up.

I was on a sushi phase, and this restaurant completely destroyed that phase. Came in for a late lunch, and ordered the giant bento box, the uni bowl, the gold oyster, and the salmon sushi. The photos really underestimate how big the box is, and it is super filling as well. Food comes with salad and miso soup which is nice, and everything came out quickly. The first thing I had was a gold oyster– oyster with uni, egg, gold flakes. It looked delicious and giant, but when I slurped it up, I was horrified. The oyster wasn’t fresh. it was bitter and salty and just NOT good. I really really wanted to spit it back out since it was such a giant oyster but I ended up swallowing it as I didn’t want to leave a mess. Disgusting. The salmon sushi was good, it kind of refreshed my palette from that terrible oyster. Our entrees came out– and since they ran out of the uni shell, they just gave it to me on a plate. I should have known that if it wasn’t in the shell, it wouldn’t be fresh. The uni was another giant disappointment– it was super bitter and just rancid. I didn’t even finish it… I couldn’t mix the toppings in my uni bowl since everything was so separated too. The only redeeming feature was the bento box– there was a nice variety of options and I enjoyed what was in there. You can pick two main entrees and the rest is what they choose. It really reminded me of Japan and the stuff I had there. Sushi was fresh, thank god, so that was good. Overall, I would not order the uni or oysters ever again. I was wondering why the gold oyster was only $ 3.50, but it makes sense now. This place definitely does not specialize in it, and it is not good whatsoever. Stay away from these two items, and you’ll be good. Total came out to around $ 45(without tip) for lunch.

They have killer presentations but the food taste just like any other Japanese sushi restaurants. You pay for the artsy presentation. Not sure if I would go back.

Went to Sushi Aru(Korean owned Japanese sushi restaurant) for dinner last night, we ordered avocado salad. bento box(grilled salmon& korean beat) and spicy fish soup. The spicy fish soup doesn’t taste that well, because the taste of fish really stands out and it’s kind of awkward. I don’t eat raw food, so I can’t comment on sashimi and sushi, but my mom thinks sashimi was ok, and the love love role Is pretty good. Korean beef was a little overlooked, but the grill salmon is delicious. Steamed egg, part of the bento box, looks smooth but it does not taste delicate like most Japanese steam egg does. The avocado in the avocado salad wasn’t fresh, and 1⁄5 of the avocado was brown. Miso soup and side dishes were served at the beginning, and there is ice cream when we asked for check. Overall, I don’t recommend this place for decent food, but I do recommend Sushi Aru if you want to take Instagram worthy photo.

Went for lunch and was pleased at the lunch special. We ordered the boxed special, hwe dup bab, and the al bab. Overall, the service was really friendly. The food was pretty good-nothing special, though. The hwe dup bab was massive, though mostly lettuce. It was still pretty good! All in all, it was a nice place to grab lunch and the lunch special is pretty good for its price. The boxed lunch special is particularly cute and worth getting if you are in the mood of sampling a mix of sashimi and other small dishes. The waitress also let us all check into Unilocal and get a drink, so big props to them! We thought we could only check in with one device, but she actually asked if anyone else wanted to check in.

There are a couple Korean owned Japanese sushi restaurants in Rowland. This one is my favorite. Sushi Aru strikes an excellent balance between serving traditional Japanese style sushi and Korean comfort food. I’ve been here multiple times and mainly for the meal sets. I think the meal sets are an excellent value cause you get tons of side dishes. For the meal set, you start with a mix of Japanese and Korean banchan all in a 3×3 grid. Next, the main course of sushi arrives and is often accompanied with other side dishes(ours had mussels AND raw oysters). The chef also gave us two free dishes(spicy salmon and pulled pork) just because! A note on the sushi, it was fresh, but not the freshest. I’d say standard in quality to most sushi places in Rowland. Near the end, you get a huge pot of spicy seafood stew and rice. I couldn’t even touch the stew I was already very full. It was a lot of food and it was all served quickly. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the friendly service. You usually get«basic» service at Asian restaurants. Here, I kinda felt like I ordered a tasting menu — lots of dishes served in an attentive manner. It was a nice touch to an already enjoyable meal. Overall, a solid sushi choice. Don’t forget to try the uni bowl!

I have high expectation coming to this restaurant, because their presentation of food looks really nice. I love the look of their bento. For taste, this place is mediocre at best. The uni and some of the sashimis(Especialy yellow tails.) are just not that fresh. I should’ve known when I saw the all you can eat sign they’re offering. The price of food here is very reasonable and with good portion size. Since this place is Korean owned, you also get those small korean side dishes and miso soup. I ‘m already half full after finished the side dishes and miso soup. Service is better than I expected, and servers are very friendly. Parking is also quite easy to find. I really hope they can improve their quality of fish. Or else I won’t come back to this place for sushi or sashimi again, maybe just for bento once in a while.

In terms of taste only, it’s not bad. The reason why I’m leaving a 2-star is because of everything else. For starters it’s not a true Japanese restaurant; it’s Korean-owned and it definitely shows in the food and sides(a lot of Korean sides served). I wanted to order a side of tempura, but they don’t have mixed or shrimp or even veggie tempura(only a soft-shelled crab tempura)… When my miso soup came, it smelled heavily like bleach. The iced water I asked for had particles floating in it(and no it wasn’t lemon water – the particle was green and leaf-like). Service was also a bit slow, and mind you it was not rush hour(2−3pm). Came here since I saw good reviews, and they had an A, but I don’t think I will return. As mentioned, food wasn’t terrible but everything else kinda sucked. Long story short: could be worse, but still pretty bad.

Me and my friend came to eat here for late dinner. The place is in a small plaza, easy to find. When we got there it wasn’t crowded, there was a party with an older drunk man and he seemed to be wanting to make a scene. Not cute. We got a roll, I forgot the name but it was good. Salmon sashimi was nice and fresh. We got some oysters and they were fresh and tasty but a little too spicy. The uni bowl was great, I’m used to eating uni with cold rice but the warm rice was okay. The presentation was nice. They ended up giving us free ice cream which was nice of them. Over all the place has good service, fish is fresh, I would return. I saw that they also offer all you can eat!

I’ve never heard of this place before.. but decided to try it out. . Medium sized place and not extremely busy for a Saturday night… it was well staffed with friendly waitresses that gave no hesitation in explaining what’s recommended or how to eat certain dishes… I was very impressed. The menu was placemat sized and 2 sided. There were plenty of options to choose from with pictures for 80% of the items on the menu. We decided to order the Uni bowl $ 13.99, tuna and salmon sashimi $ 13.99 each and Dragon roll $ 14.99. It was quite more than enough for two people. …including salad, miso soup, and green tea ice cream on the house… oh and four Korean side dishes of tofu, spinach, bamboo shoots and other. Lol They do have AYCE available but decided not to go that route at any sushi place… at $ 25 per person. .it’s pretty much an avg. Price… I would definitely come here again and recommend this place to everyone. .just be aware that there is a big screen that plays top 40 music and also kpop… so it can get pretty loud in there.

2 stars! From the services to the food. It’s just nothing special. I order a sushi set lunch that day and my friend ordered noodle. We found that there have a daily special for lunch after we placed an order. My friend ask for changing to the daily specials a second later. The waitress said we can’t change it, because it’s too late to change, and then gone… That’s fine for us. the appetizer included in the set, was nothing special, not good and not very bad. No comment on it. The sushi set, sashimi not really fresh, maybe we arrive there at around 2:15 pm, it’s a bit late for lunch. The thing is they put a lot of wasabi inside the sushi. There’s only wasabi in your mouth when you are eating the sushi, you never know the taste of the fish and you won’t know if the are fresh or not. I hope it was fresh. For the services, there’s only 2 lady serving on the floor, and they never come to refill the tea or water until we ask them to do so. The lunch set is around $ 15-$ 16. It’s not worth it actually. Finally, because they are closing at 3pm, the lady server rush us to check at 2:45pm. We didn’t give any tips for the that lunch as the services and food were really only worth 2 stars. For me, and my friend, we won’t go there again. Good luck everyone if you want to try them. And there has a lot of better choices in the area.

Ok, it’s no Akasaka, but it’s legit, fresh sushi every time I went. I used to get the Sushi Aru sushi special(sorry for the generic name, but it’s 8 pieces of nigiri plus 4CA rolls) for $ 13.99(see my old picture), except that the recent ongoing promotion has it for $ 9.99 every Wednesday and Saturday. Actually, they have a different special everyday from Monday through Friday for $ 9.99, and on Saturday you can order any of those 5 items for $ 9.99. A similar dish(7 pieces of nigiri plus 6 cucumber/tuna maki rolls) would be $ 14 at Restaurant Kamon, which was another one of our favorite non-AYCE sushi places in the area. At least, until this awesome promotion pushed sushi aru to the top. If you prefer variety, the Kamon dish has tamago, clam, etc. If you prefer more tasty fish, Sushi Aru wins. Their complimentary house salad has a refreshing taste(unless you don’t like blue cheese), and we like most of their small dishes. Hubby enjoys their check-in offer of a free soda. Our meal usually ends in their tasty, also free, green tea ice cream :) Hubby and I also tried their AYCE which is $ 18.99/person on Monday through Thursday. It’s pretty good, quality is comparable to if not better than 101 sushi roll and grill. But we can really only handle AYCE once in awhile; for the most part, the $ 9.99 lunch special is good enough for us!

Amazing quality food with extremely quick service. My family and I(3 people) ordered the small sashimi combo and there was more than enough food for each of us to be bursting at the seams. Along with the sashimi, we got sushi rolls, mackarel, tempura, rice with fish eggs and vegetables, a box full of mini dishes, and more that I can’t remember. The food came out incredibly quickly and all of it was freshly made. Additionally, the waitresses were extremely kind and attentive. Also, the atmosphere is very cool and laid back. There is also a sushi bar you can eat at. This place is a bit hidden, but definitely a hidden gem!

I went here with my boyfriend on a Friday night around 9 and it wasn’t crowded at all. So let’s get right to it… LOCATION: It’s in the same plaza as Love Letter, Yummy Hero and Easy Earthen. There’s also a grocery store in that plaza which makes parking tough to find. SERVICE: Excellent! They consistently checked up on us to see if we wanted any more side dishes or refill out drinks. The servers were all super nice! FOOD: For rolls, we ordered the Baby Lobster Roll and the Min Special Roll(spicy tuna ok crispy rice). We also ordered the halibut sashimi and the udon bowl with tempera. I would say that the rolls weren’t bad at all. I love how this place gives out side dishes like at Korean restaurants. They also give our FREE miso soup! ANDYOUCANMORETHANJUSTONEBOWL! I love me some miso soup! PRICE: Reasonable. They have a special where you can order any two rolls for only $ 18. This is a good deal because each roll is already $ 10 or more. So yup, I would definitely be returning. ^_^

For ~$ 17 per person, the friend and I shared the bento box with grilled salmon and grilled chicken and the dragon roll which had unagi. The bento box also came with miso soup, salad and green tea ice cream. It was a good amount of food between the two of us for the night. There was nothing I particularly liked or disliked about the food we had. The presentation was more of the highlight than the food. The bento box arrived in a 9 square box which took up a good half of our table. Each compartment had one or two bites of the item. Some of the items we had were california roll, sashimi, egg pancake, bean sprouts, squid cold dish, and tempura. If I had to nitpick at something, it would probably be the portion of the sashimi. Otherwise, the food was standard. The dragon roll had 7 mouthful pieces. Now looking back, we should’ve gotten a different roll because it was pretty much the same california roll from the bento box with unagi on top. The ambiance here is casual and relaxing. The night we came, there was a table celebrating a birthday. The employees had the birthday song played from their speaker to add to the joyous mood! I would love to come back and try this hotpot-looking dish that everyone else got.

Yum! Sushi Aru definitely satiated this uni fiend on a random week night. I was really only interested in the uni bowl, and the uni bowl I got! With roe. The uni itself was fresh and delicious. It was seated beautifully on top of a warm bread of sushi rice. The roe colors also completed the beautiful piece of artwork. The combinations are also good. The 9 compartments of food would delight anybody who eats with their eyes. The tonkatsu was breaded wonderfully and the meat itself tender and juicy.

Everything tasted fishy. We came for dinner and got a Small Combination B. The combinations are not worth getting. Yes, it comes with«a lot» of food anda variety of sashimi, but it was of varying quality. The filler dishes that aren’t very good either. The filler dishes included, salsa and chips, clear clam soup, couple of sticks of carrots and cucumbers with soy paste, a very tiny salad to share, and the bento style boxed«Japanese banchan». It also came with a a plate of clam sashimi that was so grainy and fishy, we left the dish untouched the rest of the meal. After the main sashimi platter comes out, then they bring out the rest of the fillers, vegetable tempura, fried fish, and a very MSG heavy spicy tofu fish soup. The sashimi was okay. The tuna had a mushy texture and the mackerel was fishy. The service was all over the place. I felt bad for the servers because some of the patrons were being straight up a$$es to them. On a busy night and with the combination meals, the servers will come to your table at least 10 times to drop off a different dish, but not to tend to anything that you need like a refill of tea or another spoon. Sadly, we did not try the uni. We assumed it came with the combination because the menu has the pictures with the combos and there is no description. This was our fault, we should have asked, no stars docked here. All in all, not making the trip again to come out here.

Best lunch special I’ve had for as long as I can remember! They start you off with a blue cheese salad. Light and refreshing! Bento Box– SOMUCHFOOD! Comes with a bunch of sides and your choice of 2 proteins. I went with the grilled mackerel, which was delicious. You also get tempura, California rolls, sashimi, veggies, udon, egg cake. It was ridiculous. Chances of food coma are high. You have been warned. Aru Aru Roll — Tempura shrimp roll topped with tuna and onions. Delicious, but I had to take it home because I was too wrecked by the bento. They end the meal with a scoop of matcha green tea ice cream. Will definitely be back!

I saw pictures of their bento box on Unilocal and I wanted to try it! I came during lunch and ordered their lunch special bento box. It comes with all these different sides + your protein that you chose. You can choose up to two and I got salmon and pork cutlet. It also comes with sashimi, udon, tempura… etc. For the price($ 14) it’s totally worth it! As for the food, it was pretty decent. didn’t totally wow me. Their sashimi was okay, my salmon was a bit burnt and dry, but all the sides were really good! So what’s really gonna sell this place is that cool bento box with all their sides!
