Rowland Adult and Community Education

Rowland Adult and Community Education serves adults in the Rowland Heights and surrounding area with various educational opportunities. The English classes are
20 – 30 dollars a semester, depending on the number of hours the class is in session weekly. Text and workbooks are provided inside the classroom and also many different worksheets can be taken home. Most of the teachers have many years of experience and are committed to seeing their students achieve success and accomplish their chosen goals.

This an adult school in Rowland Heights. They offer ESL, arts and crafts, computer, business, golf, and fitness classes.
I only have experience with ESL classes for almost 1 year. The price is great for regular terms and a bit more expensive for summer classes. I learned this from my wife that attends the school.
The BAD:
There is a group of Taiwanese students that have been taking ESL classes for 6+ years being very disruptive to learning. They constantly ask other students in all ESL classes for money ($ 10 — $ 20) to give to the teachers and have potlucks. The potlucks are held during class. Your typical brown nosers where in many Asian countries you must bribe teachers and other school officials for better treatment and grades.
The school love to have staff meetings that ends the school day without telling the students in advance. You will start class at 9am and suddenly there will be an unannounced staff meeting at 10am. School will end and no afternoon classes. I think it’s a way to have a day off and continue to get state or school district funding for the day.
There are also many religious recruiting in the classes.
Best to learn what you can and move on to local community colleges where heavy brown nosing and half school days don’t happen as often. People should come to learn and not treat this place like a retirement adult day care center.
It’s sad to see people unable to graduate with minimal English skills and start the next level at a community college.
