First time trying this place, I really liked the curry rice with the pork loin cutlet added to it. The loin cutlet was really juicy and had a lot of flavor.

One of my favorite authentic Japanese restaurants. The food is really authentic and there is always a Studio Ghibli movie showing. We enjoy this restaurant so much That we try to go here at least once a month. Try the Shrimp tempura Fry and the tonkatsu loin they are great, but so is everything else!

Sooo I went here on Saturday before 11. quickly realized they didn’t open til 1130 my family and I all ordered curry rice dishes(beef tongue, seafood and beef) BEEFTONGUE is SOLID!!! My advice is to not really bother with anything else cuz the tongue just trumps everything else by far! Complimentary salad + miso/corn soup. Finally, the curry itself wasn’t very flavorful and seemed pretty ordinary — but the beef tongue. lol you get the idea! My parents didn’t comment on this so I don’t think they will return anytime soon.

Had dinner here last night, but I’ve been before over a year ago and the meal did not leave much of an impression. Last night was no different. I ordered the beef tongue curry and it includes a side salad and the option of corn or miso soup. The curry was too watery and tasted watered down. Also it was not hot enough temperature wise and the beef tongue was cut too thin and too mushy. My corn soup and salad arrived a little after my entrée was served and the corn soup texture was too similar to the curry. Maybe I should have opted for the miso? Not the best Japanese curry I’ve had, but it will suffice if you’re in the area.

Loved it! One of the best tonkatsu places ever. I prefer the tenderloin but the filet is also tasty. And get their corn soup. It is amazing. Best corn soup I have ever had. Next time I will have to try their curry. So excited that there is a place like this here. Customer service is also great. Very friendly staff. Would recommend to everyone.

I came here a long time ago when it first opened and thought it was just okay. However, I gave it a second chance last week(and also yesterday) and was pleasantly surprised! The environment is very cozy and I really like the songs they play(a bunch of them seem to be nostalgic Japanese/animé theme songs) and on tv is always a different film from Studio Ghibli. When I came here last week, I noticed service was a little bit weak. Our waitress was very kind, but she was so shy I didn’t even realize/hear she was asking us if we were ready to order because she was standing behind us from the bar area. And we weren’t checked on very much that day. However, when I came here yesterday, our waitress was very attentive and passionately enthusiastic which was very nice. Overall, you will definitely feel genuinely welcomed here. There are lots of food to try(I’ve never seen an entire page of a menu dedicated to different types of udon before) and so last week I tried the carbonara udon which was amazingly flavorful and filling. It was so delicious I am craving it right now as I type out this review. It’s also important to note that I hate bacon 90% of the time but I ended up eating all of the bacon in this dish because it wasn’t overly salty and crunchy like how you’d expect from a typical piece of bacon. The second time I came I wanted to try something that wasn’t udon so I tried the curry with hamburg steak since the pictures on Unilocal here makes it look crazy good. I was afraid the curry was going to be as bland as when I first came here or maybe the meat will lack taste, but I was not disappointed at all! Everything was so good but I just wish a handful of cheese wasn’t two dollars extra but I’m still glad I tried it with the dish because I’m a cheese addict. Anyways, they just gave me a stamp card that once it’s filled out, you get 10 dollars off your next meal which is basically a whole meal off so I’m excited to come back again real soon! The only thing that is keeping me away from giving this place a 5 star is that the water tastes funny during both my visits so if that is fixed then this place would be a paradise.

A little expensive, but the food is ah-may-ziiing with A++ plating presentation. Service is great, no complaints at all. There’s a network of ~4 TVs in the middle of the restaurant, always playing some Ghibli movie. The restaurant is also just a little small, but I always seem to come in at non-busy hours, so that’s never a problem. Current food recommendations: — Sauteed chicken with demi-glacé sauce: a slab of chicken meat, with crispy skin and the softest meat, lightly covered in savory sauce. Although by itself, it wasn’t filling, so I recommend shelling out a couple of bucks for a bowl of rice, but that’s just me. — Curry udon: thick noodles(my absolute fave) in delicious broth, along with chicken pieces and an egg. Comes in a little clay pot with a bowl on the side for you to scoop out portions, one bowl at a time. I tried eating out the pot once and ended up a udon splattered fool. — Tonkatsu dishes: thick pieces of katsu with a side of rice IIRC, miso soup, and mashed potatoes. It may seem small at first glance, but it’s more than you think, what with the thick pieces and all. — ALLTHEDESSERTS. Your instagram, and your tastebuds, will love any of Midoh’s desserts.

This place I would definitely recommend! The environment is comfortable. The service is nice and fast. And the food, of course, delicious! The only thing not perfect is that this place is located in Diamond Plaza which is really hard to find a parking place.

This restaurant is known for their curry but I opted to try one of their udon dishes– garlic basil udon to be exact. Beautifully presented over a bed of tomato sauce the basil udon is topped with eggplant and bits of bacon. Even though it was almost too pretty to eat I devoured it and would gladly come back for seconds. Enjoy!

That beef tongue though… If you are not afraid of the crazy drivers in Diamond Plaza, then head on over to Midoh. The parking is pretty hectic but it at least is convenient since it’s right off the Fullerton exit from the 60. It is located all the way at the end of the center on the first floor. Not very big with about 10 tables but it wasn’t particularly packed throughout the night since we hogged a table for about 2.5 hours.(Sorry Midoh but thanks for not kicking us out!) The servers were very attentive and were trying to take out order numerous times but we were too busy chatting and not looking at the menu so we had to ask for a couple more minutes(a couple of times). Finally we decided on the curry with beef tongue and spinach and the curry with chicken katsu and corn. The curry pricing is compounded in a sense that the curry itself is one price and any toppings(beef tongue, katsu, corn, spinach, mushrooms, etc) are all extras added to the price of the curry. The reviews don’t lie, the beef tongue is melt in your mouth. It was sliced into mini chunks so you aren’t overwhelmed by some huge cut of beef tongue just staring at you. It didn’t taste super tongue-y like what I have tasted with lengua tacos and it felt more like beef brisket chunks, which I actually prefer. The spinach was kind of just there but it added some veges that would be missing if I had not added it. The curry was ok. The curry wasn’t particularly curry-y but it was OK. The dish was definitely made with just the beef tongue. If you like chili, you gotta add their spicy sauce that comes on the side for the table. It has a kick and keeps kicking for a bit so taste it first before you scoop a glob on your dish. My friend ordered the katsu and I had a piece. Even though it was white meat, the chicken was super tender and the breading seemed to be a good proportion to the meat. Not too thick, not too thin. I read about the corn soup and it was just meh to me. Nothing too exciting. I actually enjoyed the salad more than the soup.(they both come with the curry dish). Finally got to hit this bookmark and I am happy I did. Some many other places in Rowland to try but I know I’ll be back.

Beef tongue steak… Wow Came in around 4 o’clock on a Saturday and not a soul in there. Ordered the beef tongue steak and pork katsu sandwich(to go only) Comes with complimentary corn potage or miso soup or salad. The corn potage was creamy but not enough corn. Salad had a tangy dressing. Gyukaku steak was super tender. Literally melts in your mouth! The potato wedges and green beans were a good addition and added some crispiness. We ordered pork katsu but the waiter insisted that it had to be to-go.Which was weird because my friend said last time, it was to order also. It had a nice ponzu sauce and the pork cutlet was thick. Delicious and would get again. I would compare Midoh to Curry House but Midoh has more of a fusion style & Curry House is more authentic.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile and honestly I don’t know why business looks so slow all the time! If you like curry house, come here, it’s so much better in my opinion. The presentation, selections, and food is just so much better! It’s not exceptionally cheaper, a meal will still cost you around $ 15 but I think it’s more bang for your buck for sure(sorry curry house is just so damn expensive, I can’t) I came here with my family and we each got an entrée and we shared a Takoyaki appetizer. The Takoyaki is on point, it’s not just mushy batter in the middle like a lot of places, there are actually large pieces of octopus in there, so much yum. I’m totally a fanatic for bonito flakes. My dad got the seafood curry, and he liked it a lot, he said the curry is one of the best he’s had and he doesn’t even really like curry! It comes with a good amount of seafood and was definitely filling. My mom got the gyutan steak and it was seriously melt in your mouth tender. I love beef tongue and it definitely hit the spot, it’s different than how beef tongue is usually served which is grilled in thin slices or small pieces, it was a thick steak and who knew it could still be cooked so tender! My brother and I both got the Hamburg cheese steak with shrimp tempura, the shrimp tempura was huge. My mom liked it, it comes with a tartar sauce not your typical tempura sauce and the Hamburg steak was coated with cheese which is a bit strange but strangely delicious. They have a variety of sauces you can choose from. Each entrée comes with soup and salad which is nice, the salad had a tangy refreshing dressing and you get a choice between corn soup and miso. Service was on point, thank you Thomas for accommodating to my family. My mother may be needy but she was definitely appreciative! sadly we were too full to try any desserts but I’m excited to come back! Next time I’m aiming to try the gyutan curry and the matcha tiramisu, it looks sooooo good.

Overall, I like this place, and would definitely return. The Chicken Katsu was excellent, as were the complimentary salad and Miso Soup. I appreciated that the dish was accompanied by a massive bottle of Katsu sauce and bowl of sesame seeds(and grinder). I would order this dish again. The Nabeyaki Udon was decent to the palate, but I was disappointed by the unacceptably stingy portion of beef within(particularly given the $ 10.80 price point). For 2⁄3 the price, I could have gotten a similarly sized bowl of beef udon from Sakura in J-Town, which would have included a far larger portion of beef(and more flavorful beef, to boot). I would not order this dish again. The staff members were friendly, but not particularly attentive. Good luck getting your water glass refilled without having to signal a server. On the other hand, at least they didn’t bring us the check before we asked for it. And on that note, the check was accompanied by a complimentary stick of gum for each of us, which I thought was a nice touch. The restroom was … clean enough, I guess. The seats were not particularly comfortable to sit on. As this restaurant is located within Diamond Plaza, finding an available parking spot can be a challenge on busier nights. Expect to do some walking.

My friends suggested here going for lunch. The place is located inside one of the many strip malls in Rowland Heights. The menu has a variety of curry, katsu, and udon. I opted for the Curry udon and it was quite delicious. The noodles are pretty good quality with the chewy characteristics of a good udon noodle. They also have some fusion type udon like pesto with eggplant and a carbonara style. My friends ordered the curry rice plate and it looked quite delicious. The curry itself isn’t very spicy so they give this jar of spicy sauce on the side for you to add to your taste. A few spoonfuls of that stuff and you’ll get a great kick to the curry. Overall, the place is pretty good. I’ll definitely be coming back to try other items. Parking: Huge parking lot shared with all the other restaurants and shops in the plaza. Might get a bit hectic on the weekends.

The beef tongue steak is pretty good here and it did melt in my mouth. Yummy! I like that the entrée comes with a small salad and a cup of corn soup. I love corn soup and wish it was in a bigger size. I went there twice and the second time I noticed the menu has changed and the price went up. But the beef tongue steak was still as good as the first time. I also tried other food like the octopus balls, grilled chicken(I think it was) and Yaki udon. They just seemed normal to me. But I’ll definitely go back again for the beef tongue!

Located in Diamond plaza close to Gen sushi. I’ve came here twice one for lunch and once for dinner. Both times I did have to wait a little bit for a table but it wast too bad at all. I have tried the takoyaki, Beef tounge named gyu-tan steak $ 13.99 which is delicious and the hamburger steak which reminds me of maybe something like a meat loaf texture. Comes with miso soup, salad, fries, carrots and green beans. The food here is pretty delicious and yes a lot of people suggest dessert but most of the items have dairy in it so I wasn’t really willing to try it. But I did hear it was pretty tasty. Meal portion wise I believe that it gives you the right amount to make you feel pretty good and not super stuffed which is always good. I rather not reach the over level because than you just aren’t really enjoying it and I think Japanese plating here is done really artistic and pretty. So if your even in Rowland Heights and looking for a cute place to come and check out I think you would be pretty satisfied with Midoh!

I’ve had the chicken katsu and the udon here two separate times. The first time I had the udon, I only ate the noodles because the meat seemed too dry. The second time I had the chicken katsu with the corn soup. The corn soup was creamy. The chicken katsu was breaded thoroughly, and it was crispy. The meat itself was a bit chewy. I had more of their side salad than their chicken katsu. I was also with three friends; one of them had received the wrong order from the waiter. At first, the waiter had given my friend the wrong order. Then the waiter took back the food and came back to ask what the right order was. Then the waiter came back a second time to double check the order angering my friend. After that the waiter came back and apologized profusely about the mistake. Something good about this restaurnt is that they have good customer service – yes, an order was provided incorrectly, but he did apologize for it. The waiter also gave my friend 10% off his order.

Longgggg overdue review for Midoh! This is my absolute favorite place to get Katsu in this area. Everything I’ve tried here has been delicious and I love that the servers are always so very polite. I think my go-to item here is chicken nanban, which is essentially a thick piece of fried chicken that’s topped with this tartar-like mixture. It’s served with this sweet sauce and the different textures and flavors make it my favorite dish at Midoh! It also comes with the option of corn cream soup or miso soup, along with a side salad and potato salad. So you definitely get your money’s worth. Their tonkatsu is also one of the best I’ve had. Love that the cut is so thick, and that they’re able to retain the tenderness and juiciness of the tonkatsu even though it’s been fried to a crisp. Overall all, solid place to grab a quick lunch or a casual dinner. Desserts are all pretty good as well, but it’s the Katsu dishes that makes me such a fan of this restaurant.

Midoh is located at the end of Diamond Plaza, kind of hidden away from the main knot of restaurants. It offers delicious, modern Japanese dishes and curry. I opted for the Hamburger Steak with Cheese($ 11.80) at the suggestion of my friend. All the entrees have salad, rice, and soup… I got the corn. It was delicious and creamy, and the salad isn’t just some lame afterthought, it actually tasted great and got me excited for the entrée. The hamburger steak itself was extremely moist and tender, with the grilled veggies and potatoes balancing it out nicely. I thought it was interesting that they chose to add cheese to so many of their items, even going so far as having cheese curry. I don’t think Japanese cuisine uses much cheese at all, really. But for this dish, it worked! Service was good, and I thought prices were pretty average for what you get. Worth checking out! Food: 5, Service: 4, Environment: 4, Price: 3

Tonkatsu pork loin, hamburger steak, curry dishes, takoyaki, and much more. The entrees come with a small salad with a dressing with a ginger taste to it and either corn or miso soup. I’ve also tried the takoyaki, which comes out hot. Wait a couple of minutes for it to cool down. It was good. They have a couple vegetarian choices for curry: mushroom curry and eggplant curry. They also have meat curries. A hot sauce is given to add to the curry if you want a spicier taste. The curry is not thick and is very smooth. My Japanese Mother-in-Law likes the curry here and prefers it to Curry House. Service is good here. Animé plays on a flat screen. Good place to have a hearty meal.
