Worst experience ever. Wish I can give no star. I went to eat one night with my family of 5 my kids are all under 10yr me n hubby. We ate at the table where they cook for us waiters are so rude like they hate serving people and they just drop you drink and walk away, the cook in the other hand is amazing my stars go to the cook he was funny and very talkative amazing person the waiters nowhere to be going for a refill. We ate out food and packed up whatever we did t eat. We paid it was a mistake on our end we thought hubby but the tip on the tab like they deserve one but he didn’t thinking I was going to live the tip witch I for got(everywhere we go we tip depending on service) so we walk out and we took out food. Tell me why the head server/waiters come running to my car and screaming tip top u did not leave tip. So we told her we did on the table and he said on the bill, she straight out told us no u leave no rip I felt so embarrassed I couldn’t believe she ran to the car saying we need to tip her I felt that a tip you should win your tip n show me how much you have earned it by your service and this place didn’t deserve it I did end up tipping her n her servers but never never ever ever coming back to this place… WHORUNTOTHECARASKINGFOR A TIP, OHWAITTHEPEOPLETHATWORKHERE

It’s been a while since I last visited their Alhambra(CLOSED) location. Glad to find them closer to home. Teppan lunch combos are fantastic with or without the«yummy sauce». Fried rice oversells white rice, any day. I just don’t recommend ordering the kid menus. What!?! Kids don’t even get rice with their meal? A select meat and veggies after the starter soup and salad without rice. Tsk-tsk. A dum-dum pop at the end of the meal just doesn’t make up for it; maybe some ice cream might but that may be wishful thinking on my part. I recommend ordering an extra serving of(fried) rice and share your combo with the little ones instead.

Due to the fact that my beloved Kingswood in Alhambra has been closed(RIP), I must now trek the extra 15 miles to Kingswood Rowland Heights. While I must say that this location seems to be better in many aspects than Kingswood Alhambra(hello self serve condiment bar), there are some things that I do not necessarily like. No Fu Chou Fish Balls, smaller servings, and also the broth here is really a hit or miss at times. I also miss that nostalgic homey feeling that Alhambra gave me. After all, it used to be my shabu venue of choice since I was a kid. *sigh* I guess one Kingswood is better than no Kingswood.

Came here with my girlfriend about a month ago. We ordered the hotpot and fried rice. The broth in the hot pot by itself had no flavor. The fried rice was extremely oily, it left a oil slick on my tongue.

Overall: Pretty Delicious. The Chefs are awesome. The atmosphere is nice. Pros: –Reasonable price, cheaper than Benihana. –Food is tasty Cons: –Parking can be crazy. Boiling Crab is right next door and there’s a bunch of other little places. So the parking lot can get packed quick. Wait time: The wait will depend on what day/what time you get there, just like any other restaurant. Service: Usually very good. however, if you happen to get there right before they close for dinner(They close at 3pm) The service could be better. HUGEPETPEEVE: If you get there at 2pm/close to that 3pm mark. They give you your bill while your food is still being made/served and they make you pay right then and there. They don’t wait for you to finish eating or take your time with the bill. They essentially rush you to finish your food and get out.(First time here, wasn’t mentioned to us when we were being seated that they closed for dinner.) TIP: If you’re going for lunch, make sure you don’t get there later than 1pm/1:30pm so you have time to actually enjoy yourself and you get better service. Stars: –Food/Chef’s service: 5 –Customer Service from waitress: 4 –Bringing my check while I was in the middle of barely eating/being served and making me pay: 0 Average: 3 Stars total

My family has been going here for many years on various birthday celebrations. I LOVE the ginger salad dressing and onion and mushroom based soup they serve before the main course. Love the surf and turf options as always, but disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm by the chefs nowadays and the LACKOFALMONDJELLYDESSERT!

First time experience. All the waiters and chef spoke to us in Chinese, we are Asian… The ambiance is okay, a 3 star. We ordered the shrimp, scallops, fish combo, and the lobster, filet mignon combo. The chef came over and prepared our food. Very friendly but not much of a show. The seafood, fried rice, and vegetables were excellent but we were disappointed with the filet mignon. The taste is more of an Asian fusion rather than Japanese. 5 stars-all the food except filet, probably would go with the New York steak next time. Overall a very good experience and will definitely go back. Value 5 stars — $ 80 tip included!

Meh. Is really the right word for this. I love Teppanyaki places mostly because of the interaction between you and the chef. Maybe it was his off day… but our chef cooked for our party of 6 and throughout the ENTIRE meal he only managed to say one thing other than take our order… «ohh the yum yum sauce will make your food taste better» other than that he had one indifferent facial expression and just cooked away. Once the food was finished, he packed his supplies and pushed his cart away. The food was great. Their shrimp was succulent and so was the beef. I liked their sautéed veggies. The yum yum sauce is weird… I would ask if you can have a taste of it before you decide on letting him drench your food in it. Service was slow. Impossible to flag down a waiter to order a few bottles of Sapporo beer. You can’t expect places like this in Rowland to be clean so, yeah, the place was dirty. Our chairs were sticky and so was the table. Yes, the prices are affordable but the experience was not great. Nothing fancy about their environment or atmosphere that made this place seem lively. It was a dull boring restaurant with a chef that did not bother to converse with his patrons.

Food is good and the chef ended up making an extra to-go order along with mine. I am assuming it was for an employee since employees were speaking to this individual for a lengthy time. However, the extra order had a lot more food then my sit in order, so I’m not sure if my dish was fair or short. I was also the last-call dine in order at 2:30ish, they close at 3pm and resume dinner at 5pm. I don’t recommend being the last call dine-in patron. Service was ehh. Saturday, sep, 19th.

Went here with some friends! This place offers great teppanyaki for a MUCH cheaper price than other teppanyaki places. It is a Chinese teppanyaki place and the show conducted by the chef is less entertaining than a place such as Benihana. Then again, our table was seated with much older people(and my friends – we are not kids anymore haha) and so that was probably why they didn’t care to perform a show as they would if there were more kids present. I got the seafood combo and so it had calamari and shrimp. My friends got steak and it was cooked to medium-rare perfection. Also the fried rice was delicious! I would come here again!

Delicious teppan yaki at a reasonable price! All the food is prepared in front of you and they do tricks throughout the show. The teppan yaki here is a lot less interactive than Benihana but the food has a much more Chinese/Japanese taste which I prefer. there’s a special sauce called«yummy yummy sauce» which costs extra but goes great with seafood entrees. The restaurant also has hot pot! Be sure to order to fried rice as well, it’s cooked right in front of you and is also delicious(has that char-grill taste) I do wish that the chefs here performed more tricks as that’s one of the coolest parts about teppan yaki… They used to do a lot of tricks but stopped(that being said I was like 10 the last time I came so maybe they cater to kids haha) still even as a grown dude watching the show is always cool

Food: 3.5÷5 Service: 3.5÷5(2⁄5 for servers but 5⁄5 for chefs) Ambience: 3⁄5 Overall: 3.33÷5 I’ve been coming here for years with my family, and I must say nothing really has changed. The meals are still fairly priced in my opinion(although I’ve noticed the portions have gotten a bit smaller overtime). Overall, it’s a solid teppanyaki place, but don’t expect to be mind blown. The food is pretty good; my favorite is the calamari and filet mignon combo. The calamari is by far my favorite thing to get here! It’s buttery with just the right amount of chewiness and flavor. Delicious! The filet mignon on the other hand is pretty dry, and a little disappointing to be honest. I find everything else in the menu to be pretty average tasting. You really just come here for the nice display the chefs put on. Speaking of chefs, I really like the chefs here and there is one who knows my family and really takes extra care in preparing our food. He also is generally interested in our lives and always makes a lot of small talk. What a nice guy! On the other hand, the servers are pretty absent minded. They can sometimes forget drinks, not bring enough waters, and get orders wrong. They’re also not the most attentive and it’s hard to get their attention when the place is busy. The place itself is not bad, but nothing special either. Honestly I think they need more seats for teppanyaki since there always seems to be a wait, while there is never a wait for the hotpot joint that shares the space with them… Good place for teppanyaki, but don’t expect eland thing super special.

What I love most about Kingswood is how consistent they have remained throughout the decades. Meat quality is top notch, veggies are fresh, soup base is never bland, and the exotic fare(blood, intestine, tendon, fish ball, etc.) always satisfies. It ain’t the most affordable joint in the area, but for roughly $ 20 a person, I always eat until I’m about to explode. Though I only come for hot pot now, I’ve also had plenty of teppanyaki in years past. It’s basically like Benihana’s with less variety but way more affordable. Kingswood is pretty much my favorite restaurant, period. I’ve been eating here with my family since I was a boy, which is probably why I get great service cuz the owner and entire wait staff watched me grow up. That’s a testament to how much I eat here. Honestly, as with any authentically Chinese restaurant, don’t come here expecting the service to be awesome. Do come here and expect the food to be stellar.

Minimum $ 30 for credit card use! My boyfriend and I did the hot pot on July 4th and it was pretty packed with lots of Chinese families. I’m Korean so I don’t know much about hot pot(aside from boiling point) and didn’t know that it’s all about sharing with a larger group of people. For 2 people, we ordered frozen tofu, fish paste, meat, noodles(I would recommend vermicelli over egg noodles), veggies, and a side of rice. This turned out to be waaaay too much food but what can we do other than to stuff our faces and finish it! Everything came out to a little over $ 30 and boy was a I relieved lol. I think the food is fresh and service is kind and prompt. They continued to fill our waters and broth throughout the night. Warning! The soup broth is incredibly spicy. We ordered the medium and even that was way too spicy; we kept having to ask them to fill it up with the clear broth. This is the perfect way to spend a long dinner and be super stuffed for relatively cheap!

I’ve only been here 3 – 4 times but I absolutely love this place. I probably crave the food here at least once a week. I’ve never gotten the teppan, just hot pot but you can still order the fried rice from the teppan! I’m a big fried rice person and they have one of the best fried rices I’ve tried so far. It looks so simple yet so delicious. Main ingredient is probably the butter they put and LOTS of butter but other than that, it’s simple: rice, onions, carrots, eggs(can’t think of any more since I’m trying to remember off the top of head). I haven’t been to too many hot pot places so I can’t really say too much about the hot pot quality here but it tastes good to me! It gets a little pricey when you add everything up, but if you do it right, then it’s very affordable.

Coming here for hotpot is a treat, they’re very pricey but their standards are as high as Taiwan. The waiters have a bit of attitude but if you’re asian, it’s meh, it’s wuteva, I come here for the food so as long as they do what I tell them, I can careless what their face or attitude is like. Their hotpot is a staple of what Taiwanese spicy numbing hotpot is suppose to taste like. Their teppanyaki is also entertaining, though not as showy as say… Benihana, but still quite entertaining. The chef is engaging and quite chatty. Their food is typical teppanyaki though the quality of meat is a bit south of Benihana. Their price is right up there though so all in all I’d say skip the teppanyaki and go for the hotpot.

Front House management staff is very friendly. We told the waiter it’s our first time. He explained the menu but he called management to affirm a warm welcome. The lady was very nice to show me how to prepare the sauce and use it to flavor the meat we ordered. 100% satisfied.

Food was okay. Nothing worth actually coming to eat unless you happen to be nearby. I don’t have much to say about food-this review is mainly for their service. I’ve been to Asian restaurants who has better service. These people don’t even want to serve you food water anything. Would never return & perhaps try a place with more competitive service. I must add their fried rice the first time around was very blan and I’m assuming kitchen halfassed it because it was slightly busy however when we ordered fried rice second time around, it was very delicious and aromatic. Another disappointing thing was the rice came out half an hour after we tried to order it, 15 minutes prior to that we were trying to get the servers attention who happened to be standing around as the cash register clearly ignoring us. So one of us actually had to get up to walk to them. We usually want to be in and out within an hour. Service was terrible. I hope you guys do care about your appearance

This is my husband’s and my FAVORITE place to eat, period. When we know we’re going to Kingswood later, we literally do not eat anything all day to save room for the delicious meal we know is coming. We will drive the 40 minutes to get here and battle the bad street traffic for their steak. We’ve been coming here for 5 years now and have never had a bad, or even mediocre experience, and we ALWAYS leave full. William is our favorite chef, and he always recognizes us and warmly greets us. Any time we’re celebrating or have a little extra money, our first thought is, «Let’s go to Kingswood!» It’s expensive, yes, but for the amount of food you get, it’s totally worth it. I guess we’re not particularly entertained, but I pay to eat. If I wanted to pay for dinner and entertainment, I’d go to Medieval Times. We can’t recommend this place enough, it is THE best. Tips: Order the fried bread. It’s not on the menu, but good Lord is it amazing. Also, bring a jacket, the air is on so the chefs don’t get too hot, but you might get too cold!

Came here for a birthday — we decided not to go the Benihanas route bc it was further away and more expensive. I will say– prices here were great and food was definetly comparable to Benihanas. The only down side is the atmosphere. The cook wasn’t cracking jokes and doing a ton of tricks, but they treated us well and even sang happy birthday and gave a free dessert. I will come back when I have the craving for teppan grill over Benihanas for sure. I ordered the scallop and shrimp combo for 21.95 and it was delicious ! For that you would spend easily 15 dollars more at Benihanas! Come check it out !
