Ellaine S Chen, DDS

Doctor Ellaine Chen is really nice and outgoing. She remembers her patients and will talk to you to make you feel comfortable. She remembers when I got married, when I was pregnant, how old my children are, when I got a new job. She can even tell when I lose weight!
She is also very generous and caring. One time, a filling fell out and I was in pain. I learned the hard way that if you only have dental HMO, dentist were limited. I had just started a new job didn’t realize I forgot to upgrade my dental insurance to PPO. I was stuck with HMO that year and couldn’t use Doctor Ellaine because her office only accepts PPO. With a missing filling and getting the run around from another dentist, I was distraught. I called Doctor Ellaine and she told me, «No problem. Just come in right now. I have some time.»
So I went, and she fixed my filling and the one next to it on the spot and didn’t charge me a dime! I promised her I would change my insurance to PPO in a couple of months when Open Enrollment starts at work. She said «No problem. If anything happens before then, just call me and I’ll take care of you.»
P. S. I also did whitening at her office and my teeth came out SUPER WHITE!!!
TIP: Some dentists will numb you even for routine teeth cleaning or small fillings. Doctor Ellaine doesn’t unless you ask for it. So if you are sensitive to any pain, make sure to ask before she starts buffing/​drilling.

I don’t like the dentist. When I was younger, I used to bite the fingers of my old dentist because I didn’t want her anywhere near my teeth. Thankfully I’ve grown up since then and don’t resort to such things anymore.
I visited Dr. Chen for the first time this past weekend. Never have I had a checkup that was so friendly, so helpful, so inviting, and so good for my teeth. I mean, c’mon, she said that I have sexy teeth with beautiful curves! She gave me recommendations for how to keep my teeth healthier and cleaner, and even gave me great advice when I asked her specific questions. And I was in and out so quickly, it was virtually pleasant!

I have tried many dentists, all they have to talk about is your medical insurance premiums and how it benefits them, Ellaine has been my dentist even when I had no dental insurance coverage for few months due to loss of my job. The front office has been kind to me always. even when I miss my appointments they have always been considerate to give me new appointment right away. Her work is intricate and she is a perfectionist in dental work. She uses hi tech equipments and a fully computerized lab.
My last visit to her place was relaxing as always I get to listen to soothing music as I get my teeth cleaned. I always feel its a spa treatment at her place.
The clinic is organized and well maintained, i am particular about restroom and its always sparkling clean. I always get a free brush and a tooth paste and a candy when I leave.

My aunt referred me to Dr Ellaine for braces. I was really thankful she didn’t ask for a downpayment because im a student, even had a general cleaning. She’s very symphatetic and passionate dentist. I had 3 braces adjustments so far and my teeth looks perfect already I wasn’t expecting because its very crooked. I travel by bus from LA to Asuza for 2 HRS but its really worth it. I came here as I don’t which dentist to go to. Check on Unilocal and had possible bias review of good and bad. Can’t blame that, but I just need to go for myself.
Saw an ad at a local paper from Dr. Ellaine S. Chen. As it being close to my house and in a more professional location, thought it may be good as the ad showed more complex specializations. In addition, free teeth whitening with a PPO insurance. Why not do both, and made my appointment 2 days prior.
The appt was very easy. However, I requested a 12 noon appt, but was told that it would be their lunch time, and suggested 11am instead. Ok, fine. When I got there sharply, your normal fill of the patient profile questionnaire. But didn’t get called in until 11:40 pm. I was a little worried as I dropped off my wife and daughter to shop nearby. Thinking I’ll be done in about an hour would’ve been perfect.
As I was waiting to here my name called, the DDS, asst and patient, all being Phillippina was chatting and laughing quite loudly that it can be heard in the waiting room. Did not give a good impression as I had to wait a while past my appt time.
When I got in, I was impressed by the new technology for x-​rays. Cleaning (deep) began, a little painful as she used a drill to clean my teeth. It hit my gums a few times, and was painful. I was nearly clinching my arm rest with fingers tightning up like arthritis. Asst tried to vacuum away the bits, but didn’t say to move your tongue or close your mouth. She basically did it herself. A little annoying. Even the «Zoom» whitening was cool, but placing the putty like whitener on my teeth was underneath my lips. Well, when I was done, it burned thru the inner lip skin a bit. Repolished a little bit, but didn’t remove the entire harden putty. There was still some pieces of it in my teeth. As she finished, her asst was cleaning me up just by vacuuming off any other debris. She said I was done, and off I can go. «Ahhh, can I rinse my mouth?» Yeah, go by the sink and do it. All my previous dentist always had me rinse at the end. Was not impressed, but at least the my teeth was a little whiter. Plus a star for that. By the time all said and done, it was nearly 1pm. There was still another patient they were working on. What happened to their lunch time?
I don’t think I’ll be coming back. There’s plenty of dentists out there, and a friend recently referred his dentist to me. I’ll check it out on my next clean.
