Foods ok, drinks are what evs but can’t go wrong with pork over rice and popcorn chicken!

This place has great popcorn chicken and drinks! I would recommend this place to satisfy your tapioca cravings.

place is secluded and parking sucks.
but i like the food over here, specifically the fried chicken over rice.
the girls are nice and i can be considered regulars i guess.

I really like dolphin bay. I went here during my middle school days and all four years of my highschool life. I always bought the milk tea boba, or any of the slush choices. And I loved the pork over rice, and the popcorn chicken. However, Dolphin Bay is having problems with bugs recently, which is so disappointing to hear and see :(I haven’t been to dolphin bay since fall of 2014. And I’m scared to go back because of the bug problem. I hope they become more sanitary soon!

This is my most frequent location since I was a tiny little girl, fresh off boat. I was here before it was Dolphin Bay and may I just say that I have never experience such… I can’t even finish that sentence.
The food here has always been great, with minor slips these past few years. The combos are awesome. The portion is great for sharing as well.
What happened that made me so angry? See, the story begin with a baby. Seriously. A baby. My husband and I brought our little girl in for a quick lunch. The music was loud and the employee kindly turned it down for us when we requested. That’s really nice, wasn’t it? Right, here’s where it got interesting. Our baby finally fell asleep and we were able to eat. The same employee comes out from behind the counter and starts cleaning a table. He DRAGGED the chairs so that they made that heart throbbing, ear deafening, screeching sound we all know too well. The baby was startled and starts crying. She was crying really hard and for a really long time which she usually doesn’t do and that employee just kept doing it!
SCREEEECH!!!

A bug thats looks like a cricket came out from my milk tea. It was my first sip of the drink too. Never go here for boba!!! Very unclean…

Comic books and fried stuff. It is not a fancy place or super great food but is the perfect environment for someone to grab a bite while reading comic books!
PS: all comic books are in Mandarin.

Would you look at that. My review on how shitty this place truly is and how there was a Damn COCKROACH in the pork over rice along with a picture has been removed. How’s to show all of you that the owners of this restaurant are lying, cheap, low life, dirty scumbags. Look for my tip, picture is still there for the proof people! If it gets taken down I will continue to post it.

:(I use to love this place and go here at least 3 – 4 times a week when I went to the high school and church by here. The food was always hot, good, fast, cheap, and service excellent. But now that I’ve gone back recently, the food quality has dropped immensely (they slice the pork chop meat so thin to cut costs?), food prices have increased quite a bit (I can get better similar food at other chinese cafes like this for a dollar or two more), and service inconsistent (they are not as friendly as when the owner’s daughter use to work at the counter. And the last time I was here, the lady at the counter did not bother to let me know for almost 2 dollars more, I could change my popcorn chicken lunch set to a combo with a drink…). My mom has complained to me that they’ve been getting her phone orders wrong the last 3 times she was there.

Can’t go wrong with the pork over rice! We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and the popcorn chicken, pork over rice, and slushy with boba never disappoint.
It’s not the cleanest place though! Sometimes I worry about what the kitchen looks like!

Dolphin Bay’s quality of Taiwanese food and drinks has lowered over the past few years. During my last trip here with my brother, we both got the salt and pepper chicken steak. Mine seemed overcooked and my brother’s chicken steak was extremely dry.
Environment wise, the restaurant is beach themed and has lots of games and manga which makes it the perfect place to for high school students to relax and have fun with friends. The chairs are uncomfortable so if you plan on eating there, be prepared. I usually take my food to go.
Service wise, this place is hard to rate because you order first and they deliver to your table. If you want a waiter to cater to you, this isn’t the place to go.
For decent and good priced Taiwanese food in Rowland Heights, I recommend going to somewhere else.

Cheap food, close location is what keeps me coming back.
when I come they always greet me and I always know what im going to get.
the food here is taiwanese is nature. when im here i get the chicken steak or the popcorn chicken, extra spicy.
the side dishes are always changing, but they are good.
the drinks have gone downhill as sad as it is. but its a good hangout for kids right after school or you feel lazy and just want somethign quick,.
it is cash only so have that ready!

Worst customer service ever!
I walked in and was not greeted… not even acknowledged. Also, before I went to use the restroom, I told the cashier that I wasn’t done with my food and drink yet. He tossed it while I was gone for a minute or two. When I came out, I asked him if he threw my food away, and all I got was an «oh, sorry» with no sincerity in his voice at all. The least he could have done was to ask if I wanted a new drink. I don’t know if I want to come back to a place where I don’t feel welcomed.

Even after many years, this place is still yummy as it was! With it delicious Taiwanese snacks and dishes, its always nice to find some comfort food near home.
Also, its prices are cheap and they give you pretty decent portions.
What I ordered:
Large Popcorn chicken rice– 5÷5− SUPER delicious! I love the steamed egg that came with it~ believe it or not, it’s one of the most yummy steamed egg I’ve had in a while. The popcorn chicken wasn’t too salty or too oily, and I like how they added minced pork along with the chicken. I felt stuffed after eating the whole thing.
Usually I get their Lu Rou Fan (minced pork rice) and their Tian Bu La (spicy fish cake snack). All of them are affordable and tasty!
The servers and cashier was really nice too, I requested extra pickled side dish and they added some in without hesitation (even though my food was already ready for pickup)

Food: I ordered the fried porkchops. It comes with steam veggies, egg tofu and small amount of mince pork. The porkchop was dissapointing cause the breaded skin easily comes off, and it tasted a little funny to me. Everything else was decent. Portions are pretty big.
Food rating: ³⁄₅
Service: Not much to comment on the service since its one of those places where you order and pick up your own food.
Price: Expect to pay less than $ 10.
Overall: I thought the décor of the place is kinda cute. Very beach theme with the table is decorated with seashells and sand inside the table. My fried porkchops wasn’t that great.

The bf and I had to get a cake from Nini Bakery, but we needed a snack. Went into Dolphin Bay Café since we knew the quality of their stuff from their Artesia store.

You walk to the back, put in your order first. Wait a bit, then you get your order. You can sit down, read some of the comics and play the games, or take the order to go.
Drinks are all from Lollicup. So, it’s okay, but it’s basically just sugar or syrup. Boba is decent, as it is from Lollicup, too.
Food-​wise, I’ve only had the popcorn chicken, but it was surprisingly good! The popcorn chicken is their own and not purchased from Lollicup, so it was definitely pretty good. The ratio of chicken to breading was pretty high, and the seasoning was very good. I should’ve went for a little bit more spice, but it was definitely good for what it was.
Will probably come back when we’re back in the area. Cash only, though!

Dolphin Bay feels like a tropical paradise with the life-​like wall paintings of the ocean waters/​skies, palm trees, and most importantly, dolphins! Unfortunately, they even recreated the tropical humidity here; I can’t stay inside to wait for my order because of the 90%+ humidity. I feel bad for the workers; they must go through several shirts per shift.
Anyways, this is a good place to pick up some beer food (aka fried crap). Drinks are average at best and tend to be overly sweet. I would try a meal here but I don’t think I can eat inside a sauna.
Generous 3 stars mostly because of their painted walls; Dolphin Bay feels so real!!!
