Excellent chips and salsa, fantastic tacos. It’s prettiest much all we ever get at a Mexican Restaurant and Casa Alvarez doesn’t disappoint.

I was there for breakfast on Sunday morning with two other guests. I ordered the Alvarez omelette and it came with a side on mashed potatoes and refried beans. I was very disappointed because the egg was cold, it had no flavor, and I am pretty sure the beans were Rosario canned beans. The tortillas were like mission tortillas. The other two guests were also disappointed about their menudo. The waiter was well mattered and polite, we’ll give him five starts for his survive and zero stars for the food. P. S. If you want really want good Mexican food and good service I recommend you to go to Fonda Don Chon in Covina.

I have been coming here for about ten years and I have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend their white wine margaritas.

Very satisfying selection of a large menu filled with an assortment of foods. My chimichanga was on point and well presented. Would definitely recommend this place!

I used to LOVE this place. Ever since it was sold and ownership changed this place has went to the DUMPS. Not only have the prices skyrocketed but the service is horrible. You constantly have to be looking for your server for a refill or the check. I wouldn’t mind paying the higher prices if it was justified and clearly it is not.

Decent Mexican food with very good service. We were started off with complimentary warm tortilla chips and salsa. Our waiter brought us more chips and salsa when he noticed we had finished them. I’ve tried a couple of dishes here and my favorite was the beef taquitos. The three taquitos are accompanied by refried beans topped with cheese, rice, sour crème and guacamole. I enjoyed the crunchy taquitos. I was not crazy about their guacamole and offered it to my husband, who liked it. I guess I am picky. Staff came by to ask us how we were doing. This is not great Mexican food but it’s not bad and I do not know of any other Mexican restaurants in this particular area.

This is probably one of the few actual good Mexican food spots in Rowland Heights area(and I mean it is really difficult to find good Mexican food in an area filled with Asian restaurants mostly). I have mostly been going here for the wet burritos(red sauce and cheese over it) because that is my usual when it comes to Mexican restaurants. It comes with guacamole, beans and rice on the side. I would say their portions are large and the burritos taste delicious. They have a lunch menu for smaller portions and prices(but are still filling). I have yet to try out the rest of their menu but judging by the quality of the meat and tortilla from the burritos, I would hope that the tacos and everything else are good as well.

I haven’t been here in awhile but glad I had the craving for authentic Mexican food this morning. The service was very efficient and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the menudo that looked great, not greasy at all, he loved it! I ordered the huevos rancheros and was also very satisfied. Despite the steady flow of patrons, our food came out quick and our servers were attentive. Our daughters ordered off of the kids breakfast menu and seemed to enjoy their meals as well … I will be going back!

After coming here for a few years I would have to say the service and food has gone down hill while the prices have climbed. My main reason for updating my original review is the waitresses tend to hide in the back kitchen area trying to avoid you at all costs. You might get a refill on your tea if you’re lucky. So I have had some good experiences here, but lately the bad has outweighed the good. My last visit there was a soccer game on and the waitresses were mostly huddled in the back watching the game on a small TV. Couldn’t get a refill. The service was not the straw that broke the camel’s back however. I hate under-cooked Chile rellenos. The last time I came here I got a Chile relleno that was under-cooked. Solid cold cheese and lots of seeds; not good in my opinion. I really hoped that the quality of food and service would have stayed elevated over the years but sadly that has not been the case. I was working in Fullerton by Cal State University and found some good Mexican spots in Placentia. Now I just make the trip to Placentia if I want some good Mexican food.

Located right next to Stater Bros on Colima. My co-worker recommended this place, so we decided to check this place out for lunch. Tortilla Soup –Tortilla soup with carrots, bell peppers, celery, onions and tomatoes. Topped with cheese. My friend absolutely loves the tortilla soup. She said it’s her favorite thing here. Lunch Special Small Wet Burrito — Filled with beans and your choice of beef. Pork or chicken. Topped with sauce and melted cheese. Served with sour cream. I ordered the burrito with beef and it was quite delicious! Shredded beef that was cooked well and the burrito itself is huge especially since this is a lunch special. Complimentary Chips & Salsa You can tell their chips are homemade and the salsa is excellent as well. LUNCHSPECIAL9AMTO2PMWEEKDAYSONLY.

First time and most likely last time. I ordered the chile verde burrito with 2 eggs on top — it’s one of their specials, just can’t remember the name. The food looked good and that’s about it. Their green sauce was tasty. The pork tasted like old cat food. I asked for over medium eggs, they made ‘em over easy. The smell of raw egg yolk had me gagging. Good things: their salsa for the chips is really good and the place is so empty the service was super fast.(Not sure if it being so empty is a good thing, but when you’re in a hurry to eat lunch it’s great) If I ever come back I’m sticking with good ol’ cheese enchiladas… Those are pretty hard to mess up.
