Bland & tasteless food /aggressive & unfriendly customer service. My lovely friend Javier suggested we eat here after he had wonderful food and service at their *Irvine location — unfortunately we had no such luck at this location. I ordered fried garlic tofu bites for my appetizer and a main dish and soup combo. The tofu garlic bites were cut into relatively large squares,(context: you couldn’t fit more than two in the palm of your hand) and were covered in flavorless saw dust. Sadly, I did not taste a hint of garlic in the«garlic» tofu bites and the lack of crispyness suggested the tofu bites were not meant to be satisfying or tasty. My combo meal was no better. The soup was full of bland tofu and an «assortment» of seafood. The soup was poorly seasoned seeing as it tasted of water and when I attempted to eat the tofu the tofu tasted like gummy, you guessed it, water. As for my assortment of seafood I had three shrimps and one oyster. Surplus is not an issue at this restaurant. I would equate the taste of the broth of my soup to sucking the sweat out of LeBron’s socks after an intense basketball game. Mildly put, the food was bland and sweaty tasting. This next tidbit of this lovely adventure was as intense as a game of thrones episode. I expressed to our waitress that the food was not satisfying. She stared at the food and then the menu and explained to me that I got what I ordered(context: English is not spoken very well at this location which made this situation more difficult then what it needed to be). My friend then told her that the food was horrible and that I did not want to eat the food. She once again repeated that I got what I ordered and added some red sauce to my bowl hoping that the sauce would prompt me to eat. I then noticed someone who worked in the kitchen looking at our table and her face expressed concern so once my waitress left my table, *without* taking my water soup and my water bites, I went to explain to the lady in the kitchen that my food was inedible and I did not wish to continue dining. One of the other waitresses rushed over and aggressively placed herself between me and the person I was talking to and asked me, «What are you doing?» as she said this she had a scowl on her face and I politely told her I was unhappy with the food. She rudely shooed me away and began saying things in a language I couldn’t understand, but her tone revealed she was unhappy. Um, excuse me Miss Thang, if a PAYING customer is not happy with 90% of their meal you should try to offer other food, or to remake the food, or at the very least apologize. She ran up on me like I owed her money. No ma’am. I won’t go into other details, but I ended up paying for my saw dust covered gummy water bites(garlic tofu bites) because I ate three of the 8 of them. The tasteless food, lack of effective communication, and gangster inspired customer service has prompted me to N E V E R come to this location again. I would not advise anyone DEAD or alive to dine at this establishment. PS. There was one bright spot during this visit, the kimchi and 7up soda was quite tasty.

Delicious Tofu Soup: Vegetable or sausage&cheese. Condiments are always the yummy part, always ask for more to fill your tummy up. Love the Rice Pot after you finish your tofu soup, I love the burnt rice soup. It tastes so yummy! Price is definitely not on the cheaper side, but at least you get Great Customer Service with all the condiments you want to fill your belly if that’s what you want. I get full everytime I come here with my fambam.

Solid and yummy Korean restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary that is worth raving about– I would have to try other places around the area before coming back.

This BCD tofu house is located in Yes plaza, the parking is quite limited here. I got the #9 combo. It came with yellow corvina and a tofu soup. The side dish kimchi was disappointing to me. It was not as flavorful as I had hoped. One of the appetizer is a whole fish! The fish was really good. The tofu soup here was alright, nothing stood out to me. The Fried yellow corvina was yum. Very fresh! The service was good, they were friendly! Tips: You can ask for purple rice upon on your request.

Food is as expected. I prefer the seasoning of BCD vs other places. At other tofu places if you ask for spicier it’s usually just saltier. Good and attentive service. Never disappointed in a visit to this location.

**THEREWASHAIRINMYRICE** (If there wasn’t hair in my rice, I’d probably give them 2 stars) Pretty busy on a Sunday evening. The wait isn’t that long, but it’s pretty hectic in the restaurant. The service is horrifying here, they try to ignore you and don’t really look around to see if anyone needs help. We had to flag down servers constantly. The food itself is alright, pretty standard stuff, nothing really stood out to me. The portions are okay, but prices are going up, around $ 20 for a combo. We got the BBQ beef ribs, spicy pork, and chicken teriyaki(all combos). We got the seafood tofu soup with each one. You can choose which tofu soup you want now instead of just getting the assorted! The side dishes are subpar, the kimchi wasn’t sour or spicy, it just tasted like sesame oil. The clams are alright, definitely salty, but still probably favorite of the bunch. They do give you a small fried fish for each order, not person. The fish is good. I like how they offer brown rice(but it’s actually purple), but like previously stated, there was hair in my rice and that’s just disgusting. Probably won’t be back, the food isn’t worth the bad service and price!

Parking kind of sucks here but that’s only if you come during the peak hours. I love bcd and this is the closest one near me. It can be a little pricey. but it’s okay. I always get the dumpling tofu soup w/beef! Or sometimes I would get the bibimbap combo with a small tofu soup. YUM! The restaurant itself is pretty big. I’ve never had to wait to be seated, which is a plus! :)

Ughhhhhh BCD always sounds like a good idea in my head, but every time I go there I’m disappointed. Their soon tofu soup doesn’t really have flavor, it’s just so spicy it burns your mouth. I’ve tried experimenting with all the different levels of spiciness and can’t seem to hit the sweet spot. It’s either white soup that’s completely flavorless, or burning heat that is still flavorless. How do they even do that? They do have some good things going for them. The service here is FAR better than what I’ve experienced at most Korean tofu places. It probably has to do with it being a chain and them pushing customer service with their employees, but it works! I’ve never had bad service here. Also, all of their meat is really great quality. Not too spicy, tendon-y, or saucy; whichever side order you get(if you get the combo) you won’t be disappointed. And I loooooove the fried fish that comes with your order! It’s my favorite part of the meal. I guess what keeps me coming back is the meat and the fact that they’re open late for the times you get a weird craving for soon tofu after midnight.

I used to like eating at this place since it was my first place to have Korean Tofu«Soon Tofu» Now that I have eaten this at a few other spots, this place tastes like the ultimate crap. No flavor, hardly any meat or oysters, shrimp, ect in the meal. I came here excited to have it again and it disappointed. They ran out of rice and only had enough for one person. By the time they brought out more rice, we were already done. I find it strange how they don’t close for another 3hrs, yet their rice ran out. Usually I have to pace myself & eat very slow because this dish is boiling hot. But, today the mini raw egg that comes with this dish(which is cracked and put into the hot bowl of tofu) wasn’t even able to cook because it wasn’t even hot. No wonder it was empty’ish inside, especially on a Friday. They used to be a packed house until midnight everyday of the week. Will never be back. I was looking forward to this meal all day & I am more than turned off at the bad quality. My appetite and taste buds got played.

I came here with a group of friends around 9⁄10 pm after being at the happiest place in the world. Although we wanted to end our day on a high note, it ended up coming short. Our party of 7 was seated at a table and then moved over to a larger table(right by the door that was opened). We browsed the menu and quickly ordered. The interesting place about this Tofu House is that they bring our a fish with those who ordered Tofu Soup. This is definitely my first experience with having fish as an appetizer. I have to say the fish was really good, even though there were a lot of bones. Our food soon arrived and a different server brought out half of our party’s food. Like two minutes later, our server came over with the other half of our orders, however she looked really confused. She thought that the orders that were brought out by the other server, were also the orders she had on her tray and that there had been a double order. Our server seemed really confused and had to take a a minute to think about it, but we were like uhhh those are our orders… One good thing about this place was that the server scooped our stonepot rice into bowls for us, which was really nice. The sad thing is that I am a hugeeee hugeeee fan of side dishes, especially kimchi, spicy cucumbers, bamboo shoots, and the wrapping noodles, I can eat those for days and days! However the options of side dishes were limited, I think we only had like 5 side dishes total? Since we had a large party, the server brought out 2 orders or side dishes and we devoured it like there was no tomorrow. Afterwards we asked for more, however it took the server about a good 15 minutes to bring a new batch out. By then most of us had already finish our food. Although I am a huge fan of Korean food and Tofu Soup, this Tofu House didn’t please my taste buds. I will be sticking to the Tofu Houses by my house, mainly because they have more side dishes, they have quicker service, and the food is much tastier. If I am ever at the YES Plaza in the future, I will probably be going to Tastea for dinner or Banana Bay.

This place is ok. first time here and will be the last time. Why? First of all, located in yes plaza. Parking is horrible on weekends. You literally have to hunt people and chase them down to their car! Haha Between 3 people, we ordered 2 combos to share as it will be more than enough food since with the unlimited side dishes. I didn’t feel the side dishes were all that amazing anyways. I only ate the cooked fish and kimchi. Everything else looks disgusting and dried. We ordered #1 calbi beef ribs combo with seafood tofu soup. And also the chicken terriyaki combo with seafood tofu. We got our side dishes, stone pot rice and raw egg for the soup. Then came out the chicken. Chicken tastes pretty good. Ok, half way done with chicken and still no beef ribs on our table?! The lady walked over and looked at our table and saw we were missing our ribs. Waited another 5 mins and finally came out. They apologize, oh well. Not getting a good tip from us. No excuse because the restaurant was not even filled! The prices are expensive! $ 20 for a combo for dinner for the Calbi beef ribs?! The side dishes were not even impressive! Bill came out to almost $ 50 for the 3 of us! we won’t come back here.

I was surprised by the amount of ban chan(appetizers) they gave even though i just ordered a simple combo! This place is pricey and fast paced and our food trickled out slowly, but the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Most of our table got the #20 Galbi Combo and I got mine with Seafood Tofu.
The galbi is awesome and piping hot when it comes out! Everything was so delicious and I enjoyed the hot soup. Surprisingly the seafood is plentiful in the seafood tofu soup. Everything was salty but this was a great first try. Will probably come back again!

I love Soondubu so much but I found myself avoiding BCD every chance I get. I dont know why I do this but the weather is cold and I just came from Vegas and was craving Soondubu so bad. The ajummas working here are nice enough compared to other branches I have visited. I just dont like it when they start talking to you in English thinking I am not Korean because most of their customers are Chinese. Anyway, I got myself a Ham, Sausage Soondubu and my Boyfriend got his Kimchi Soondubu! They were both good but I personally dont like Soondubu with Kimchi in it so I liked mine better. Honestly though, they can put so much for sausage but they give you so little. It’s just those cheap wieners they put after they ‘slice’ them but I swear, they only put a tiny amount. This is the same for Ham too. They do serve you a yellow corvina for each person and is good!

BCD is a Korean tofu soup chain restaurant. I like the Cerritos location better because it has free ice cream. I saw one review for this location that said there’s free ice cream. Where it at though? Other than not having any free ice cream, the food here has the same standard and quality that other BCD locations have. I usually get the Original with beef or the Assorted(beef, clam, and shrimp) with purple rice. Decided to try something different and got the ham and cheese(and sausage) or «army stew» which gets its nickname from the American ingredients in the soup that probably got in there when American army bases were in Korea. I never got it because it seemed weird putting cheese in soup but the cheese melted with the soup so that it was subtle and the broth was actually good. If you haven’t ever eaten Korean tofu soup you should know that they give you unlimited sides or «banchan» to eat. At BCD they gave those flat fish cakes, kim chi, bean sprouts, etc. There was one side that was literally ice cubes and cucumber slices. I don’t know what that was. When I went there weren’t any egg omelette things. There’s 1 fried fish per person. All of the other sides are unlimited except the fish, so stock your tummy up on them. They come over with a pot of rice and scoop it out. At the BCD location I usually go to, they ask if I want water poured into the pot with the remaining rice but this location didn’t ask me and went on ahead and poured water into the pot. Pour water into the pot if you want more(somewhat wet) rice to eat. Don’t pour water into the pot if you want crunchy rice to pick off the pot and eat after you’re finished eating. Once the pot of boiling soup comes, immediately crack the egg into the pot and cover it with soup so that the egg goes toward the middle of the bowl. The soup is so hot that it cooks the egg. Then eat! Personally I like to pour a couple of spoonfuls of soup and meat on top of the rice, let it cool a little so that it’s warm instead of boiling and then eat the soup mixed with the rice and repeat the process. I’ve seen other people eat the soup separately from the rice so that they’re slurping soup and then eating rice. I don’t know the traditional way of eating it but it ends up in the same place either way.

Open until 2AM on Sun-Thur and 2:30AM on Fri-Sat, I hereby declare this a satisfactory late night dining option in the area. The banchan set is on the rather limited side, but they make up for it by including small(but whole) fried fish per diner, as part of the set. Beware of bones. Their Galbi plate, as expected, hit the spot — if you’re not sure what to get, get this. I found it interesting that they included cabbage along with the usual slices of onion to accompany the meat, which I thought was a good call. We also ordered a plate of fried Kimchi Dumplings(also available in a steamed variant). It also proved to be a satisfying dish, and was accompanied by a small bowl of marvelous dipping sauce. Service, as expected for this type of restaurant, left some things to be desired(particularly in the area of attentiveness and proactiveness). However, I’d still rank the staff’s emotional labor here as above average for Korean restaurants, and they got much better towards the end of meal about refilling our water glasses(without us having to get their attention). Pricing was within expected range — including tax(but not including tip), about $ 30 for the two of us. Not a steal, but not a rip-off either. The parking lot was surprisingly packed for a Tuesday night — expect to put some work into finding a free space. The men’s restroom could be cleaner, but I’ve been in worse. All in all, I would definitely come back here.

Great food! Service is good depending on who it is. The same workers are always working so I recognize them. Some of them don’t really understand english. We got our little dishes in the beginning and we didn’t get bean sprouts so I asked in english«Do you guys have bean sprouts?» and she said, «bean sprouts?» and didn’t understand so she had to get someone else to come talk to me. I usually get the combo with a tofu and non spicy chicken or just a tofu itself. When I get the tofu soup, I get the veggie tofu soup plain which comes with zucchini, mushrooms, squash and broccoli. The non spicy chicken is also really good, it has a strong teriyaki flavor, so good! I’ve had the bibimbap before too. You can get it with beef or tofu & I got it with tofu. The veggies were really oily though. There was a pile of oil at the bottom of my bowl. I’ve had better bibimbap somewhere else. They also have the multigrain rice here & there’s beans in there too :) It’s a great choice instead of the white rice! Personally, I like Young Dong better than this place though. Young Dong has enoki mushrooms & their little dishes in the beginning are better in my opinion. Overal, service is quick & pretty good! I never have to wait even when it’s Friday night or Sunday lunch. There’s plenty of tables & people leave pretty quickly so if you do wait it won’t be too long.

First off parking is horrendous here but I knew about that for quite some time now and if you’re ever in the area, you know too. I came through about 8pm and was hunting for parking for a good 10 – 15 minutes. Once we were able to sit down at BCD we glanced at the menu and the spicy pork bulgogi was my choice along with the Kimchi Soon Tofu soup. The spicy pork bulgogi caught my eyes and when it came out it was quite mesmerizing. To be honest I thought it was a solid 4 in terms of taste. It wasn’t as spicy as I had anticipated but definitely enough to give off great flavor. The meat was nice too but not as good as I would like. What I truly came for was the soup and usually I’m left quite unsatisfied at BCD but on this particular day everything was solid. The soup was super flavorful. I don’t like it to be overbearing with kimchi flavor. It was well balanced flavor wise that day. The tofu is extremely soft here which is a plus for me. Overall it was a good meal. The ambiance is bright and loud. It was a bit packed when we went. The service was just ok, very typical of any BCD’s. I would definitely return if I’m in the area, but only if I have limited options or really craving it. PS side dishes ftw PPS not open 24/7…I thought it was but nope

It’s been a little while since I wrote a review and I decided I should write about BCD Tofu House in Rowland Heights. This BCD is located in the shopping plaza called«YES Plaza» *interesting name*. Parking is big and there are always spots unless you are going on a weekend then maybe it might be a little bit harder. I like this BCD because they give you an option of choosing either white or purple rice. I always choose the purple one because it looks more appealing to me and it also has little beans in it which to me is pretty cute. Most of the times that I have been here is with either my friends or family and we always share the food because honestly Korean places hook it up with the sides. This one also gives you fish for every order that you have. It’s not big but hey its something. We pretty much order a seafood tofu and a beef rib thing which can feed about three to four people. If you don’t like sharing you can always order some more dishes. Oh and if you check in on Unilocal there is a free drink you can get. I love the tofu here it is pretty soft and even till the end you will have a nice soupy broth waiting for you to slurp up. It’s never a dull moment in here thats for sure.
