Good selection of veggies… nana cabbage wasn’t washed but everything else was good. Great flat bread as always!

All you can eat for $ 11, which is great. We even took out the stuff we could not eat there :)

Food is good, always leave there miserably full. My 5 year old is kinda picky, and even he approves. My only complaint is that is always cold in there.

I enjoyed this place and the variety of food, I would have given it a five star, but since it was my first time there, didn’t know it was a serve yourself for about 10 minutes after finding my table to sit at.

Welcome to leftover gallore but only IF you do it right. Start with the meat first to lay a flat even surface for your veggies. Keep in mind that the meat will shrink once cooked so add more than you think you’ll need. Layer the veggies with the slippery stuff first such as frozen carrots then stack the other stuff like broccoli and mushroom. When stacking the noodles make sure you start with as many of them as the tongs can hold and twist them into the bowl tornado style. This is specially important on the first attempt as it lays the foundation for the second or third round of noodles depending on your skill level. On your second attempt, again with as many as the tongs can hold, drill into the center before beginning the twisting motion so the noodles have most of their surface area on the ones there previously and therefore not slide off the plate. Most people stop here but I always go for the third stack since I don’t mind the noodles hanging off a bit. I can not emphasize enough that you MUST over do it on the sauces, do NOT follow their recipes as you’ll end up with a bland meal. Make sure and sauce the noodles separate from the meat and veggies as they will be added towards the end and that extra flavor will be much appreciated. I love this place, I’ve been going there since I was in high school and although it’s nothing fancy and the wait staff only check on you about once the entire time you’re there it is pretty straight forward and a great place to bring the family. They’re never too busy so you generally get to have your pick of seating but make sure and voice your opinion or they’ll just sit you somewhere random. The staff isn’t very engaging in that way but I kind of like that. Make sure you tip the cooks and enjoy your leftovers.

This place seems to inspire stronger feelings in others than it did me. The food isn’t amazing. But it’s not bad. The veggies are fresh. The frozen meat medallions don’t look pretty, but they taste just fine and they help you have some healthy portion control. The bread pockets are a little odd. Go heavy on the sauce. The recommended combos aren’t terrifically flavorful, but there is a lot to choose from if you’re willing to experiment! Verdict: I’d eat here again. It’s a healthier option than most of its neighbors and you should kinda know what you’re getting when you walk into a Mongolian Grill.

Great food! The service is quiet and pleasent. I went to lunch with some girl friends and I was so surprised how easy it was to figure out how things worked without having an over bearing server. We got there at a great time, got our food ready to be cooked and waited patiently to have it cooked. I loved watching the guy cook our food. Truly an amazing experience. Also crazy cheap! Love love loved it

Went there for lunch on December 13, around 12:30 — 1:00. Like people said in previous review there are chunks of frozen meat. My main problem with this place is a father with his little girl came in while we were eating and placed his child on top of the counter where people put there food waiting to be grilled. She walked back and forth on the counter while their food was being cooked. Apparently, Mongolian Grille do not care about sanitisation and will be looking into other places to eat at.

Most horrible Mongolian restaurant in the world. Don’t go to it. Go to only Genghis grill

I’ve always loved this place but this last time we went we had a family seated literally three feet away from us which we wouldn’t have even noticed but the restaurant was otherwise empty. Awkward! We were all there for my mom’s birthday so yea, it kinda messed it up. So the food. This is one of our usual spots when we eat out. My husband always goes straight for the meat then comes back for the veg. And he’s a noodle-less kind of guy. I’m more of a veg person so I love that they have a good selection of stuff I like to drown in their sauce. And of course I like that I can custom-make it with my favorite stuff. The sauces can be a bit daunting but my husband was doing this long before I came along and he’s a foodie(I guess a foodie is someone who is more obsessed with what they eat than I am). Anyway so he showed me the ropes and it’s always kinda funny/cool when there are newbies in line behind us. He’ll help them out too :) Which btw, I think you’re on your own with this. I’ve never seen anyone available to help. So bring your attention span, you’ll need to read the sauce menu and follow its directions. Standing and waiting for the cooks to finish flipping your food around on the big grill is kinda cool/fun at first. They know you’re eye-ballin them to make sure they don’t mix other people’s nasty things they like into yours. And of course you’re like, hey that’s MY water chestnut! Push it back over with MY pile! And I don’t know how they keep up with which bowl belongs to whom. I mean I’ve set my bowl up on the counter before when they weren’t paying any attention to me and then kinda wandered around but I’ll be danged if they don’t slide my bowl right down that counter right in front of me when it’s done. It just always seems so thoughtful. And makes them look smart :) I always bring home my leftovers and when I forget they’re in my fridge, my eyes light up with excitement when I’m scrounging for something to eat. Ahh, thank you Mongolian Grille :) Why only three stars? Because of the seating this last time but also because there’s never any personal connection. The wait staff, the cooks, nobody really acknowledges you. They don’t help make it an experience. And that’s just a lil weird to me.

This is the second time I’ve come to Mongolian Grille during their posted hours and they’re closed. Do not even bother. They were closed at 2PM once too. The times I’ve eaten here they’re more expensive than Ghengis Grille and not as good. You have to mix your own sauces and I fail every time. Also all the meat is frozen. Just don’t bother.

I’ve been coming here for close to 20 years, and I decided to finally write a review. First of all, I’d like to address the people who complain about the frozen meat and mention that other places have«fresh» meat. First of all, the fact that the meat is thawed is NO guarantee of freshness. It was probably frozen first anyway. I would prefer the meat to be frozen, because it will prevent bacterial growth when sitting out. My concerns about food safety are much lower when the meat slices are frozen rock solid. Furthermore, the fact that the meat has to first thaw means it won’t be so horribly overcooked. If the meat were thawed already, it would be completely overcooked by the time the vegetables are done. Several others have mentioned Genghis Grill. The food there is OK, but the small bowls are laughable. If you like cabbage, like me, then you can put just a small amount of cabbage in that cereal bowl they give you — and that cabbage will wilt to next to nothing once sauteed. I much prefer this place where you can load up on healthy vegetables. The food is always cooked well and tastes good, so I have no complaints. The place is a little dated on the inside, but it’s not something I care about. Overall, I much prefer this place to Genghis Grill.

Well had been to the one in Austin before, thought they were the same, nope. Food I will say was decent, but service sucked! Waitress asked how many was in my party said three including my son and table just had two waters. I asked nicely to receive a water for my son and she rolled her eyes at me that I inconvenienced her. I won’t be going back.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Mongolian grill of any kind, so I was somewhat excited when my partner noticed that there was one in La Frontera! How did we miss this on our many trips to Hobby Lobby and Lowe’s? We were both excited to try it out. Sadly, it wasn’t as amazing as I remember other Mongolian grill places. This was the epitome of a «meh» visit. Upon walking in for dinner on a Monday night, we were«greeted» by the cashier/waitress. I almost felt a little bad for her, she didn’t seem like she enjoyed being there. There were around 2 – 3 other families there during prime-time dinner time, which should’ve been a clue. There wasn’t any real signage as to where to start, and the waitress-cashier could tell that we were lost, so she pointed us to behind the wall at the edge of the restaurant. Of course! So obvious. Most of the veggies were labeled and looked kinda fresh, but I was hoping for some better ingredients. And then we got to the meat section… Frozen. I don’t ever recall using frozen meat at other Mongolian places(like Genghis). I was a little weirded out, especially because it was frozen in a giant clump so you had to chip off what you wanted. And the pork and the chicken that I got looked exactly the same. Obviously it wasn’t the same when it got cooked, but I could see those that are against pork-eating having a hard time making sure they’re getting the right meat. They did have a pretty large assortment of sauces, but I should’ve known better than to try and follow one of their«recipes». Bland, I’ll be making my own concoction next time. My partner agreed to this as well. Because it wasn’t busy, we didn’t have to wait very long for our food to cook, which was nice. But $ 10.99 for dinner? Wasn’t really worth it to me. Unfortunately we’ll probably be coming here more often, as my partner really seemed to enjoy it? Maybe I can convince him to drive a little further next time he’s craving a create-it-yourself meal. I’d rather go to a place that has fresher ingredients.

Very very very disappointed with this place. I’ve never had a bad experience at a Mongolian place like I did here. There meat is frozen, not fresh. YUCK! I expected better, and def. not coming back.

I love the fact that i decide what goes into my meal and just how much meal I will be getting. I love the idea of creating my own sauce and having the ability to tweak it as I see fit. The food is cooked quickly and the taste is great. Not much for ambiance, but I’m ok with that. I’ll go back! Tip: Make sure to pick up a frequent diner card and get it stamped every time you go. Your 10th meal is free.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet, if anything to get it on my AATX list! This is a great place to eat at if you’re on Atkins, especially if you have dogs. I’ll get to that later. Anyhow, the Atkins part is pretty obvious — because you basically build your own meal, you control exactly what goes in it and, more importantly, what carby stuff does not. I usually start with a few mushrooms along the bottom, then fast foward straight to the end of the line where I play 7th Wonder of the World by stacking the meat chips as high as possible. There are two secrets to getting a good stack: 1) Compression — As you lay down the foundation chips, don’t be afraid to smash those bad boys down as you do it. You’ll be able to stack more in the long run! 2) Moisture — The chips are freeze dried, so just like licking a new popsicle, a little moisture helps stick chips together. I don’t recommend licking the meat chips, mind you, but you can use the natural warmth of your hands to sculpt & stack new chips as you drop them on your pile. Gasp! But that’s not hygienic! Get over it, it all burns off on the grill anyways and if you’re really worried about it, don’t ever ask how chefs«dry age» those delicious steaks you enjoy. :) For Atkins, you just have to avoid the sauces that obviously contain sugar or molasses — even soy sauce has a few carbs — so if you’re pushing it on your 15 – 20 allotment for the day, be careful, but otherwise the little bit you will use shouldn’t be a problem. My favorite flavor is the Mandras Curry — it carries over well after the cooking. Also, not sure if all the places do it, but this one even lets you add up to 2 eggs to your dish — a nice bonus source of protein :) Another delicious addition is sesame seeds, which can be found in shakers towards the end of the counter, and are also very low in net carbs(0.2g per tbsp) When you get to your table, you’re going to be hit with temptation. They hit you up with a ball of white rice, a cup of soup, and two fried dumplings, and a stack of flat bread. If you’re not on Atkins, all of it is fine and dandy(soup is meh) but when you are, it’s just a giant serving of temptation(especially the dumplings which are awesome). This is where your dog(or roommates, or friends, or SO) comes into play. Soon as you sit down, ask the waiter for a box — toss the rice, flatbread, and dumplings inside and close it up. All set! Enjoy your Atkins friendly meal and bring home the extras!
