Food was good but they were out of several items. The waitress had to come back to the table several times to let us know that they were out of a food item, or that it would take a considerable amount of time to make it.

Tried to go here this morning at 9:45 and they were closed even though the hours on the door said they should be open. Very disappointing.

I’ve only been here once for lunch, and I ordered the quiche with sausage. It was delicious, in fact, and I’d like to go back to try the French press coffee. Other than the taste of the food, I was underwhelmed by the ambiance and service. The place was only 1⁄3 full when I went for lunch, but it still took about 5 minutes for anyone to notice me or take my order. This wouldn’t seem like a big deal, but two of the waitresses looked at me and walked past my table a few times before stopping to ask if I’d like anything to drink. Eating alone is bad enough, but being overlooked by your waitress makes it more awkward. I give this place three stars for the food, and I hope that one day I can give it more stars for better service!

We have been going to Friar Tucks for several years now and we absolutely love it! The staff are always friendly and very attentive; the pastries are fabulous and without all the heavy sugar that so many of ours have; the coffee is to die for… I am so addicted. The owner is usually present and greets us most of the time with her wonderful British accent. We recommend this family oriented and very peaceful coffee café without reservation. I forgot to mention that there is free wifi there as well. Bill and Audrey Simmons

My English husband and I love this place. After about a year in America he needed a little taste of home. They have HP brown sauce and real back bacon(sometimes) which he can’t get enough of. The scones are fresh, flavorful, and moist. My husband has tried the sausage roll, and the full english, and thinks both are authentic. I love the smoked salmon bagel, it comes with this sweet chipotle sauce that is just to die for. My husband says they have the best cup of tea this side of the ocean. I personally love the french press coffee, I try a different type each time I go. They have these little pots on each table of raw sugar cubes, which is better than having to use the little packets of sugar. Finally, the staff is super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They always have a suggestion for which coffee, or baked good to try. The atmosphere inside is what we like the most, its just a great place to sit and relax with a coffee in a laid back, quiet space.

They probably put crack in the Friar Tucks blend tea, because I am hooked! The pastries are wonderful. The salmon sandwich on french bread was awesome. Last time I went, between 3 adults and 2 kids, we had to get a second ‘6 pot’(That’s a teapot meant to pour 6 cups of tea) of the blend, plus a small pot of peach. The first time we went, I think it was the owner, this Brittish lady, who said she had kids and knew my boys would be a little messy, and not to worry about it, actually got some toys out for them and had them playing in a livingroom type area so we could finish some wedding planning after they were done with their snack. Just a lovely, family-friendly place with good eats, and addictive tea. I hope to become a regular.

I’m a big fan! The food is tasty, the coffee is tasty, the atmosphere is fun. Some people complain about the service, but I think it’s intentionally set up in the more European style of letting you enjoy your experience in peace unless you want something. Personally, I prefer that. Four stars instead of five because the food is a little pricey.

I have been getting breakfast here once a week for the past 3 – 4 months. They have a large selection of teas and a smaller selection of coffees, both of which are great. I’ve had almost all of their breakfast dishes and they have all been extremely tasty. The front third or so is setup coffee shop style with soft chairs and couches. A shelf with board games and other idle distractions separates this area from the table seating. The whole atmosphere is very chill and inviting. It’s easy to spend a couple hours here just hanging out. The ladies that run this place are very kind and very friendly. There is plenty of parking nearby — there is a free garage just around the corner if the spaces in front of the shop or in the middle of the street are taken. If I lived closer I’d be here way more often.

I likethis place because it is right down the street from the library, which I sometimes spend my weekend mornings. I like that it doesn’t feel like all the other chain restaurants that Round Rock has to offer. I had the quiche, and it was served with potato chips, which I found odd. There wasn’t anything about it that was fabulous, so 3 stars. I will go back for the french press coffee, and just the fact that it’s NOT a Starbucks. PS…I went by there today at 8:30, because it showed on Unilocal that it opened at 8 am but on Sunday they actually don’t open until 10am.

I’ve been here several times and while the food is great and the atmosphere is really interesting and relaxing I can’t in good conscience recommend it without a few warnings. I was going to a regular knitting group that met here but we consistently ran into problems. x They do not split bills. x One time they charged my friend’s card twice and it was difficult for her to fix that. x They seem to randomly change their hours at will. All of these things were cause to change our knitting group location. The upsides are + The food really is good — especially love the full english breakfast and the brie and bacon sandwich + The building and inside are really cool. Dark wood, original floors. Be sure to look up to see the tin tiles on the ceiling. + Very quiet, casual atmosphere. + Having your own teapot and/or coffee press at the table is nice. + I’ve never seen it too busy. There are plenty of tables. All in all it’s a good place for a brunch but have a second option because they may be closed or about to close or have just stopped serving whatever it is you wanted to eat. This has all happened to me on different visits at around the same time of day.

After coming so many times for breakfast, we finally managed to get here to try the lunch menu. We started off with a pot of one of our favorite teas here, the Friar Tucks Blend, which never leaves us disappointed. I ordered the Brie sandwich, where you get a choice of chicken or bacon on it. I chose the chicken. You also get a choice of bread, in which I highly recommend the Wheat-berry. And get it toasted… the brie gets all nice and ooey-gooey! It’s an interesting combination of flavors that go together nicely. It comes with a side of kettle chips and a salad. My sister ordered the Waldorf Chicken sandwich, which she said was wonderful. It must have been good, because she ate all of it without even offering me a bite! As always, I just love the atmosphere in there. It’s relaxing and slow paced. Perfect for chatting while sipping tea. The staff there is always friendly and not overbearing. And I never feel like I am being rushed through my meal.

I had read a few reviews about Friar’s before trying it for myself. They for the most part were vastly different from my experience. Upon entering the atmosphere was pleasant and refined, with a lot of vintage decore, came in and was directed to a seating area, then told they didnt have menus everything was on the Chalk board, «OK then tell me that before I sit down» First impressions people! When It comes to full breakfast, they have only one, the English Breakfast, their limited menu, muffins/scones, toast and side meats, lacked enough substance to make you feel you were anywhere that called themselves a breakfast place. The English breakfast itself, was tasty, but unflexible, One kind of toast(white) one kind of eggs(scrambled) fluffy but slightly dry and crumbly, and lacking mass, the scrambled egg was literally one small egg(very small) probably a third of a cup of scrambled eggs, 2 slices of very good thick cut smoked bacon(the one honorable mention of the entire breakfast) all together not worthy of the $ 11 price point, The service was friendly but slow had to ask for iced tea refills, and a breakfast for 3 with tea and coffee was $ 50+ including tip(15%) Not a real value for sure, and certainly not a Man’s breakfast place. If you want a touristy place to have a strong english coffee, an a muffin $ 8 total you got the right place, but for a hearty saturday breakfast look elsewhere for sure. Giving you the Honest scoop on good eats and great treats…

My new job affords me the ability to work from home. Which sounds awesome unless you have a self-diagnosed case of ADD and find a million distractions in your home(none of which involve cleaning). Hutto doesn’t even have it’s own grocery store, so I was hard pressed to find many places here with internet access. Before you recommend Starbuck’s I must tell you that(a) I DON’T DRINKCOFFEE and(b) their chai tea latte tastes like liquid ass. With foam. From the street, Friar Tuck’s looks like a pill box, but when you walk through the doors you experience how spacious it really is. I’ve been there 4 times and am served by the same person – I assume she is the owner. She’s always gracious and sweet and welcoming, even though I don’t think she recognizes me from time to time. As a tea whore, they have some of the most interesting flavors. My favorites so far was a lime ginger and tuscani mint. What keeps me coming back are the damn sugar cubes. Yes, sugar cubes. I’m addicted. I’m tempted to stick them in my purse as I’ve had a devil of a time finding them at either Randall’s, HEB or the Wal-Mart Supercenter(what? I live in HUTTO!). I primarily drink buckets of tea, though I have consumed a egg & bacon breakfast, a chicken sandwich, and gingerbread cookie with chocolate buttons. The food is a good compliment to the tea and, so far, haven’t had anything I’ve hated. It’s a great place to come to get work done as long as you are aware of two things: 1. Friar Tuck’s is very kid-friendly. The restrooms have changing tables, diapers, and wipes There is an area for children to play and I’ve seen mommy groups meet there, which is nothing an iPod won’t get you through. 2. If your pet peeve is people sitting RIGHTNEXTTOYOU when the place is not crowded, then beware. For some reason, the instance of balding business men who feel the need to set up shop in close proximity is high.

The whole experience was lovely. Starting with the service, which was fantastic. Our server was sweet, with the required fabulous accent and seemed genuinely invested in what we were going to order. Loved the menu. Having been in London, I’ve never been impressed with british food but this little spot does sandwiches and quiches that are quite delicious and unique in the sense that the whole thing is kind of an experience. And at the last, it’s all just quite charming. Stop in for a little bit of lunch and a nice relaxing chat with your friends or the great ladies that run the place.

I really like this place! I love the atmosphere, the location and the food. The only reason I cant give it a 5 star rating is the service. This is going to sound horribly picky I know(it already does, even to me) but I hate to sit through a meal with an empty drink glass. I don’t know, I think I get thirstier faster than your average Meerkat, and I tend to drink LOTS of ice tea with everything I eat. The ice tea glasses at Friar Tucks are very small and in the three times I’ve eaten here they have never been very prompt about refilling them. Usually I’m empty by the time my food gets to the table and nobody offers me a refill until I’m ready to leave. But having gotten that out of the way, let me tell you that the sandwiches are awesome! I get the vegetarian and the goat cheese on it is delicious, very moist and creamy with super flavor. The sandwich comes with a VERY small salad and a few chips(crisps). While a meal there doesn’t usually fill me up it certainly tastes fantastic! Plus the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. I’ll be returning often, refills or no refills.

What a neat place I stumbled upon. A friend and I were going to have lunch at Louisiana Longhorn for lunch, but unfortunately they are closed on Mondays. So what did we do? We went to the restaurant next door. I have no hangups about trying new restaurants, but this was a stretch for me. It’s a coffee and tea house. Their food menu is not very extensive. And I know nothing about tea. I merely asked my waitress for suggestions, and she hooked me up with the tropical green tea, and I ordered the quiche of the day as my meal. The quiche was made with ham, mushroom, and cheese. It was alright. I’d give the quiche 3 stars. It came with a side salad and kettle cooked chips. The salad was pretty neat because your meal is accompanied with a container of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salad cream.(weird, but good.) I thought it was pretty fun to drizzle my own olive oil and balsamic blend on the salad. The salad cream was pretty good, too. The tea that was suggested was excellent. Not your typical tea what so ever. Nice, sweet, fruity flavor. Very eclectic. I enjoyed myself immensely there. My friend had the chicken and avocado salad. He seemed to like it because all of it was gone. Definitely a neat experience and I would not mind coming here again.

I like tea. A lot. It’s the most popular drink in the world(after water). But since we insist on being special, here in America we drink coffee more. That means tea houses are somewhat rare. Clearly we need some kind of tea exchange program with England, because the British woman who owns this place gets it right. The layout here is great. The whole place is very open with lots of seating, making it a super relaxing and pleasant place to come with a small group of friends. The tea is excellent and each pot comes with extra hot water to brew a second pot, so it’s also a great value. Bonus style points for having sugar cubes instead of plain old granulated sugar! Everyone even gets a little shortbread cookie niblet. Don’t be put off by the tiny cookie, it packs a big flavor. I ended up taking a full-sized cookie home and I honestly think I may need some help eating it.

This little English tea and coffeehouse exudes classy old world charm. Brilliant! Let’s just say that I was gobsmacked to find such a cool, delicious, and lovingly real place in the formerly soulless heart of Round Rock. Denizens of the Northerly culinary wastelands, you need to check out Friar Tuck’s. To those fortunate souls in the heart of ATX, this place is worth a trip off the beaten path. Friar Tuck’s is at first glance a very good English tea house and gift shop. The historic building and cozy décor work perfectly, and there always seems to be a big crowd of ‘women of a certain age’ having an absolute blast here. I was surprised to also find the best coffee in Round Rock. Espresso drinks are perfectly executed and served in very high quality«china». The proprietor, an honest to goodness Brit, is so effusively friendly that you feel like an old friend. She even called me «love.» From the surprisingly interesting menu, I’ve only tried the breakfast. Folks, I have just two words for you: Bacon Sandwich. I can’t speak for the lunch menu, but the salad and sandwiches look very gourmet, unique, and classy. Adding to the authentic British experience is the array of imported products. Ranging from candy to meats like English bacon, there are goodies to appease any Anglophile. There’s even BP Brown Sauce, whatever that is. And, cor blimey, that’s not all! Friar Tuck’s bakes fresh scones and treacle tarts and things that I’ve only read about in Harry Potter. The blackcurrant scone goes great with a cappuccino. Overall, great cute little place for tea, coffee, English charm, and tasty food. Woohoo, indeed!

This used to be a tea house, but now looks like it’s got coffee and sandwiches. There’s also a small market where there are all sorts of British goodies that you wouldn’t normally find here – cookies and candies. My husband is a huge coffee fan so he was quite impressed when they served their coffees from a french press. I got a box of candy while my husband got a pastry. It’s a really cute place to just relax and hang out with a snack. And we’re always looking for new breakfast joints to try out so we’ll have to come for that!
