I go to this place because they have a variety of food. I can get Chinese style chicken with fries, or caribbean plantain. I use all those terms loosely. But they get 3 stars from me because they’re cash only AND no delivery AND horribly cheap with the duck sauce. Lol.

This is my go to when ever I’m in town honestly, I love the food here. I’ve been going here for years. If they started delivery that would’ve been amazing the time that I lived in Boston. #1 or a #6 know em by heart. The food is amazing.

So I ordered this food as take out. I ordered chicken wings, crabragoon(of course) and pork fried rice. Let me just say this they give you a lot of rice witch is a bonus, hello leftovers! They give you 2 chicken wings and 4 pieces of crabragoon!!! The crabragoon is good I wish it was more crab meat vs cream cheese tho I love cream cheese lol. The service was good. It is a cash only and no delivery Chinese food restaurant. I wouldn’t really eat in personally it’s more of a grab and go spot. When we left my friend forgot his phone we called them as soon as we noticed and thankfully they did have it for us, the mom had saw it and told her son. It was our lucky day I’m sure if someone walked in and noticed it before them it would of been gone. I like that they staple the styrofoam container incase you’re in a car it won’t open and spill. I just wished they put a menu in your bag invade you wanted to call in your order etc(I did pick one up off the strength)

I’ve been coming to this place since i was 11 years old back in 2001. Yup a little eleven year old kid riding his bike two blocks to the nearest chinese joint to order some fried plantains with chicken wings, and a large order of crab ragoon to ride back home with the bags on the handlebar… This place isnt like the regular chinese spots with the reddish color to it from the seasonings, nothing against that but i prefer a little mix and always look forward to the crispy, ginger seasoned chicken wings, with the crunchy fried plaintains that i can relate to from my Hispanic background. The pork fried rice is really good, its nicely blended with the right amount of veggies, meat, and herbs to make it very tasteful! I always get some small chicken fingers which are pretty good as well and some orange chicken for my mom which she loves! But my main choice is always the Crab Ragoon! It tastes very different from all other Crab Ragoons i have had in other spots and in the past, it has that very creamy, cheesy taste to it. Unlike other spots which it seems they just stick a chunk of frying cheese in there, a bit of diced seafood and call it a day. Really great place, try the Crab Ragoon for a win, Btw i don’t know whats up with the bad reviews nuttin bad at all about there food and there prices are pretty good, with the large bag i always leave with loaded up with 6 containers and one smaller one for about $ 40 bucks, you can bet ill go to any diner or fast food spot and get half the stuff for well over 40 $ P. S. You Funny, Buu eat you Last… Lmao

I don’t understand this cash only, no delivery chinese restaurant. The food is subpar, mostly bland and tasteless, and the service is just bleh. I live near this place and I always get American Chinese from somewhere else. They open late on Fridays and Saturdays so if you’re craving food late at night…

I’d really give this place a 3.5 instead of a 4 because of the cash only policy. Aside from that it’s actually pretty good food. I’m not from Boston, but most of the Chinese food I’ve had here isn’t good. This place is an exception. I got their 5 fried shrimp and fried rice. It was good, and the fried shrimp were HUGE so it was like eating 2 for each one. The plantains are great! They give you a lot for $ 3.75. Overall the food is good. I’d actually recommend it.

Dang! Anyone who knows me, knows I don’t usually do Chinese fast food, but after coming here to Mandarin, I’ll make an exception! They have all the same food as most other Chinese joints, but I don’t know what it is. Their food just tastes better and doesn’t make me feel sick after. The CHICKEN is great! As is their Crab Rangoon and scallion pancakes, and they actually use fresh vegetables in their vegetable dishes. Prices are typical of a Chinese fast food joint, but the portions are much larger. A small Crab Rangoon here at Mandarin is probably the same size as a large anywhere else. The place is shabby looking but don’t be fooled, they got some damn good food in there! Give it a try!

Not good. Had beef with broccoli and the beef was so funky that I only ate the broccoli. Texture was horrible, taste was bad, and service was the worst. And over priced. Not worth it… even if you need something fast.

This just might be the best chinese food I’ve had in Boston. Some friends and I ordered a whole mess of food from here on New Year’s Eve. There was your usual chinese food take out: lo mein, pork fried rice, pu pu platters, plantains, spare ribs, beef teriyaki. We had to wait a little longer than they said for our food, but given the time of year and the amount we ordered, it was understandable. I could go on by the food(seeing as it was all very good), but my goodness, the chicken wings were fantastic. I’d haul out from Eastie for those wings alone. Star off for cash only, but if you happen to be in the area, stop in and get some solid food. And don’t forget the wings.

This review is only for the chicken wings: they are fantastic. You get the whole wing(so, drumette and other piece attached) and they’re seasoned with a subtle hint of ginger that lingers while you’re licking your fingers. Cause you’re gonna lick your fingers. Use some hot sauce for a little something extra. It’s right on the corner, but you can pull into the lot next to the restaurant and run in. People and their complaints about dodgy locations kill me. It’s in an area where there are Black and brown folks. That does not necessarily make it feel like you’re going to get shot. If you can actually be open-minded and willing to take a trip, you won’t be disappointed. An order of wings will cost about $ 8. Take ‘em to a party – you’ll be a hit.

The food at Mandarin House is very good. Probably the best in the Roslindale/JP area. The General Gao’s is nice and crispy with a great taste. I love the fried shrimp as well. The prices are ok. Maybe just a tad high for the area. My major issue with this place though is I feel like I am going to be shot everytime I am in it. Seriously it feels like it belongs in Harlem. The cashier lady has a major attitude as well. Plus, cash only. But if your willing to risk life and limb I recommend the Mandarin House.
