This is probably my «best-kept-secret» in Sacramento. While the selection can sometimes be hit or miss, depending on what you’re into in that moment, when you do find something, it is surely going to be in the«favorite’s» category of your wardrobe. If you are a «Juxtapoz”-readin’, Art –makin’, quirky-yet-stylish individual, it is defiantly worth the slummy walk up K Street.

Artifacts has actually been around quite some time, just under the Toy Room Gallery name before it switched to the current title. Along with the name change came an amazing new buildout and building façade, and a solid update of brands including G Star and Stussy Deluxe. One of the best merchandised stores I’ve been through in a long time, and a great mix of brands at all pricepoints. Even though the location maybe isn’t the best, the concept of the store is definitely worth a trip out. Buy something and keep good local businesses going strong.

I had no idea this place even existed! I came here to pick up some cans of Montana paint and caps for my roommate’s Christmas gifts and was shocked to discover this store tucked away downtown. Great urban art clothing store & gallery just a few blocks over from more well known Upper Playground. They had way too much clothing I couldn’t afford… but it’s nice to look at. They also carry Vice magazine here, which is a huge plus! highly recommended!

Probably the nicest looking boutique I’ve been to in Sacramento. As a vinyl toy addict, I was pleased to see that Artifacts carried Unipo figures, Pete Fowler vinyl, and your usual KidRobot fare. Vibe was pretty chill, and they have a really rounded out selection of clothing for both men and women. I left with a 10″ Pete Fowler figure for $ 40 off MSRP, and a good first impression of Artifacts.

I was hoping to walk in and be looked head to toe for approval to shop here. No luck. I was greeted by a couple of friendlies and made to feel comfortable. R.I.P Urban Art Snobs. This place is rad. Love you guys. Thanks for supporting the best in Sacramento Local Art as well. I love my New Sambas and all your smiles!

A. The new space is FANTASTIC. It’s a lounge /gallery /clothing store. HIP. HOT. B. Clothing /shoes/accessories are unique and not nauseatingly trendy. They have a huge selection of Tank Theory merch(HOT and made in USA) with better prices than you can find online. They also have big-time crap like RVCA if you’re into that sort of thing. Plus they usually send me away with a reusable signature canvas bag. C. You don’t have to drop hundreds of bucks for the staff to remember you and what you like to buy.

So I spoke to one of the owners on Saturday while visiting what used to be called«The Toyroom». There were 5 original owners. 2 left and it’s now called Artifacts. It’s the same basic store. Same brands. Same merch. Same art gallery soon to reopen in a couple months. It’s just a new name. Anyway, this store is really cool. They carry lesser known brands like Tank Theory, Upper Playground and Imaginary Foundation as well as more well know brands like Paper Denim and RVCA. They have clothes, books, toys, and a slew of other amazing things. I can get awesome shirts, erotic art books, spray paint, uglydolls, and local artwork all in the same store. How cool is that? The art gallery is also fantastic. Rotates with the 2nd saturday schedule and brings in local artists with a flare for politically charged work. Love their work, and love everything the local scene has to offer. A bit expensive, but keeps me looking fabulous when I want that«indie hipster» look and it is the best place to get new, individual birthday gifts. They get 5 stars even if I don’t look good in their skinny jeans.
