I went to my first Chicago Bandits game last week, and had a really excellent time. Parking was easy, the ballpark was cool, and all the staff I encountered were very friendly. The stadium has the vibe of a Class A men’s minor league stadium. Also, the stands look out on the O’Hare flight path, so you get to see planes landing in the background which is actually pretty cool. I got 2 tickets right behind home plate, and after taxes and fees they were about $ 36 for both. I bought one 25oz. tallboy beer at the concession stand and it was $ 8.50, which also felt like a pretty good deal. The vibe of the place was really positive and laid-back and friendly. There were lots of families, big groups of intellectually disabled people with chaperones, and big groups of younger girls’ softball teams. Even though the Bandits lost, we had a really nice time. Why not 5 stars? I saw a couple of places with room for improvement. 1.) — You can buy Bandits merch from a trailer OUTSIDE of the stadium, but there’s no merch to buy once you’re INSIDE. And after the game, THETRAILERISCLOSED! Wut? Laaaame. I wanted to buy my lady-friend a Bandits hat, but I missed my chance. If you’re not going to sell Bandits merch inside your stadium(for some asinine legal reason?) at least put a sign on the trailer that warns«No Merch for Sale Inside Stadium.» 2.) — Maybe it was an unusually full night, but the lines for concessions were WAYTOOLONG and SLOW. I must have missed two innings just standing in line for a single beer. How about adding staff on busy nights or something?

Talk about a fantastic fan experience, we love the intensity of the athletes, the condition of the stadium and the musical accompaniment. I hope the owners in the league are smart and can keep it going!
