The only place where you can see a good band and smell sweat, pomade and fart in the same whiff. The gas is the best

I came here a long time ago, remember there were live bands. I don’t know about this kicking everyone out for the cover charge but whatever, still like the selection in music though.

The kitchen is open And the food is delicious. Ask Dave for the fish tacos they are amazing… I’m not a fan of fish tacos normally but these are a serious game changer.

This place is dive bar perfection. I usually go on Mondays, when it’s empty as hell, but they do have their karaōke regulars, and when you pair that with two for one drinks, you’ll eventually have the mic in your hand too. Pool tables are very reasonably priced by the hour, so go at it. It’s also a venue for small shows, I’ve seen two ska shows here and it can get pretty packed, but it’s always good time.

Great drinks, friendly staff, and an all-around welcoming and unique venue. I went here this past weekend for the Lux for Life show and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will definitely be coming back.

Awful place. Security gave me and my band trouble for loading our gear up in our cars like we were doing something sketchy, while 10 feet away there were people drinking in the parking lot. This happened twice in 30 min. Then the bartenders completely ignored me until my girlfriend went to the bar for me, at which time she received instant service from the male bartender. I was told to go to different parts of the bar to order different drinks which was obnoxious. This place is a mess and I will never play/patron this poor excuse for a venue/bar ever again…

When I want to go to a dive bar and watch Rockabilly/Punk music this is one of my favorites. I’m not going to ramble on and name drop bands and people to sound like I’m a %&$# hipster, but I will tell you this little place has a lot of charisma, with a dash of charm. If you want service, food or anything else like that, this place isn’t for you. If you want beer, good music and questionable women, I highly recommend Spikes.

Granted this place has cool events, the bartenders are always rude and they have crappy alcohol/beer that is expensive. They need to remodel this place which frustrates me cuz there is an empty corner next to them and they should buy it and expand their business! It would be such an opportunity for them but naw they rather stay junky looking and small. Call bar rescue! Lol…

I’m sorry I don’t fit the description of your typical clientelle. However a typical client of yours brought me on Vday for some anniversary and it meant a lot to him so I said why not. Let me experience a new scene… tell me why the oldest bartender rudely waited on two ppl behind me before me. When she went for the third I basically ditched the bar. Said I wasn’t gonna drink here. Sorry but no. Whether Im part of the scene or not. I’m paying for my beer. So show some respect to paying customers, cuz I could have gotten bottle service at HERE on Saturday night.

A quick run down of the good, the bad & the tortabilly. Let’s talk shit first: It’s a pretty run down establishment. It can get pretty hot in there, good luck if you have fake eyebrows. Only 1 stall in the ladies room that happens to have a curtain rather than a door. The stench of the restrooms can sometimes float out. It’s the weekend & you’re a dive bar, how did you run out of the cheap beer already? The bartender doesn’t look like to sharpest tool in the shed so you resort to a simple beer order to make things easier on her. You might get asked by a group of girls to take a pic of them from the boobs & up. Now for the hype: They always have good bands playing. It seems like they go out of their way to showcase good music/talent. This place isn’t pretentious at all. You can come in your faded black hoody but is definitely chalk full of greaser boys in their Pendleton’s & rockabilly babes in their super tight pencil skirts. As a matter of fact, I actually like that the crowd is always chill. Cheers to everyone who frequents the place! Overall, a good place to hang out, drink & listen to good music. Your Homegirl, Violy

Im not from this area. Looked it up on Unilocal and this bar is awesome. The bartender is the damn best. Pours great and makes you feel at home. At first seems like no one is here and weird but once you walk in you wonder why you haven’t been here before

I used to live less than ten minutes away from Spikes and i was forever coming to Breakfast Club and shows here! My husband has played gigs here recently and soooo much has changed. Unfortunately, not for the better either! The staff is incredibly rude and the bathroom is a shit hole! Security guards have MAJOR power trips and they feel more like bullies! No wonder Spikes has been empty these last few times i’ve gone, no one wants to deal with the over priced watered down drinks and rude staff! I was blown away hearing that it’s $ 2.00 for tap water, shouldn’t it be free??? Needless to say, i could careless to come back here anymore.

This place is very dark and hidden from the naked eye from the streets. But once you step foot into this billiard/sports bar, you know for a fact that this place is a well-known spot for the locals and patrons. They have various themed events on the daily such as: 80s night, Karaōke night, Nu Wave night. I sat at the bar with my girlfriend and she got a recommended kamikaze and I got a Jamie-ginger. The bar tender was great, giving us samples of drinks and generous portions. I want to come back here on a Saturday night when they have 80’s night($ 5 cover). This place is a true man cave and I can’t wait to watch football here.

Make sure you get your free drink after you purchase one. Also, make sure to come with good company, today for 80’s was empty on a Saturday but if you need your 80’s fix come on Wednesday. On the upside the micheladas are $ 8 and that can last you for the night.

Boy o’ boy, where should I start… this is going to be LOOONG, but informative The entrance is in the alley, behind Garvey. Upon entering, you walk through a small, low, dim, uneven-crooked hallway, which sets the mood of the place right away. The layout is just what you’ll expect of a dingy, dim, themed dive bar. It’s a bit trashy, but trashy in a classy way, if that makes sense? It’s the type of place where the band The Cramps would frequent often, let’s put it that way, and if you don’t know who The Cramps are, shame on you and find out. It’s dim, which I like. A decent size dance floor, but it will fill up quick if a jam comes on. The pool tables I wouldn’t be able to tell you because I don’t play pool, so figure it out on your own. The smoking area is where the entrance is, which is cool because you can peep on who’s arriving. The bar is long, there is plenty of sitting and standing area, but when it comes around to their Wednesday Halloween night, you’ll be hard-pressed to find ANY room to hang. There are dead nights there, just like every other place, but nobody makes dead nights lively like Spikes. I only really go there for the Breakfast Klub nights every Wednesday. DJ Esser spins a lot of 80’s New Wave, Dark Wave, Elctro, Post Punk, Goth, Industrial, Alternative, and etc. You’ll here oldie-but-goodies, and something you never heard before. If you dig the music/scene, you’ll have a good time so put on your dancing boots! They also have an 80’s night every second Saturday of the month, where they’ll invite bands or special guess DJ’s, but they charge $ 8 to get in, so I’d rather go every Wednesday when it’s free and have drink specials. Plus it’s the same DJ and same crowd anyway. And to add, Siouxsie is queen there. I always look forward to Wednesdays, it makes the week enjoyable. Every Monday is Rhythm N’ Booze night, where there’s free pool, but what I go there for is to be around the people who are dedicated to the Rockabilly/Psychobilly, 50’s James Dean –Bettie Page, Pin-Up look and life style. You’ll see beautiful vintage cars parked outside, and beautiful girls, but they wouldn’t look at you twice if you’re not dressed for the night. Walking in there Monday nights is like stepping back in time, which is a really cool escape for a while; but in saying that, the mystique and appeal is broken when you see a guy dressed like Elvis or a girl dressed up like Bettie Page playing on their iPhone I’ve been going to Spike’s for a while consistently and there has never… never…NEVER…ever-ever been a fight or any altercations that I’ve seen and most importantly, been apart of, so that gives you a notion of the type of people that go there. Security isn’t too strict but they are firm. I always roll solo, and don’t really know anybody there, but so far, I haven’t had any issues; everybody seems friendly. As before mentioned, I only really go there Wednesdays, and at times every other Monday’s, and second-Saturdays of the month, in saying that, my review is solely based on those nights, I don’t go any other nights, so I would recommend going on Wednesday between 10 pm-11:30 pm. You don’t have to dress like Robert Smith or James Dean, but the beauty of it is that you can go there and be yourself!

I went here last night with my hubby and sister-in-law. My husband wanted to play a couple games of pool. First thing he did when we first got in was go to the bar and ask the bartender if he needed to pay for a table. He was told that all the tables were free. So since all tables were busy he asked around if he could have a chance to play. We ordered several drinks, pretty much spent $ 75 in alcohol. About 1 hour into playing pool some guy walked up to my husband and told him he needed to leave that table because he just paid for it. My husband said, «I was told you did not need to pay.» Still being courteous he asked the guy if he could at least finish the game. The guy said no because he was paying by the hour. At that point we got upset because we were given misinformation. A rude bartender, the same lady who told my husband the tables were free, came over and said she never said that. My husband got heated so I followed her to the bar. I asked who the manager was and she said it was her! Her name was TERRY btw. I told her, we just spent $ 75 in alcohol and you think we wouldn’t have paid for a table if only you would have given my husband the correct information. She said«it wasn’t me I got in at 9pm.» I said, «We got in at almost 10pm and yes it was you.» She didn’t try to make it better or apologize. Instead she basically denied the whole thing. I’m never coming here again!!! This place is a shit hole with expensive drinks and stupid old bartenders!!!

This place deserves 0 stars, female(owner, manager, whatever) was terribly rude. Had a very negative attitude, I don’t know what was her problem but obviously she needs to lighten up, especially due to the fact that this place was completely empty, no wonder. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Never felt such negative vibe as I did here. Also false advertising, not a free drink when you check in, it’s buy one get one.

I was most impressed with their drink ordering set up/system. It’s very efficient. They have PBR tall boys here. Sign of a good bar. Came here for the first time on Saturday for an 80’s party. The venue is essentially divided into three sections with the bar, dance floor in the middle, and 3 pool tables to the right. I think it’s a pretty cool set up. They have bar seats all around the dance floor, which allows people to watch other people dance.
