Delicious food. Cheap prices. Friendly workers. Go To items: pork kidney & shrimp dry noodles and satay noodles! Delicious! It might not be the cleanest place, but perhaps that’s what gives it such a distinct taste?! Haha love it here!

My father passed away a year and a half ago. Today is his birthday. This place is near and dear to my heart because he loved coming here. My dad loved egg noodle, and I associate it with him because nothing was better as a child than when he wanted to treat the family out for«dan mein.» Not just this place, but any place that had egg noodles. We used to go to this one place that eventually became Phở Filet. After that he went to New Kim Bao back when it was located in the 99 Ranch Funland Plaza(now the Square). It closed down and then we hadn’t gone to eat egg noodles as often. Stopped by Kim Ky a few times. Driving home one day, I drove past what used to be Chamelli’s, an Indian Restaurant? And when I looked over, I saw that it said New Kim Bao Restaurant. I was happy to see that it was still in business. I was able to take my dad to eat there one time and he was as surprised as I was that it was in business at a new location. I have gotten take out a few times after at Kim Bao before he passed. He loved to get either #25 Egg noodles with Assorted meats and always ate it dry. Or he loved the Satay sauce Egg Noodles. He woukd get a couple you tiao(chinese donut/creuller) and dip it in ¾th hoisin and ¼th sriracha dipping sauce. I’ve grown up on the #25, Egg noodle with Assorted Meats(a couple shrimp, pork kidney, some ground pork, some pieces of shredded chicken, some pieces of shredded duck, fish balls[which always go into the soup on the side] and sometimes fish cake, though I don’t recall it the last few times I went). Dry. I prefer the thin noodles because that’s what I remember as a kid, but the wide egg noodles are just as good. This is how I always eat it because it is howmy dad taught me to eat it. Get the satay sauce or chili oil sauce in the table, two to three spoonfuls of it. Drizzle some red vinegar on it I’d say a couple of teaspoons, and about a tablespoon of hoisin sauce and mix. Use some soup to loosen the noodles if they are stuck and enjoy. The building is pretty big, but they split it into two areas. The restaurant area and the kid’s play area. You see the toys and everything in the other room because the doors are glass. It makes the place look tacky, but I can’t get mad that they are working and looking after their kids. The restaurant side is like any other restaurant. As long as they keep up with the good food, I have no complaints.

My dad and grandma seem to come here often because of the good price and the large portions of food. It’s worth it but it isn’t very sanitary. The table we sat on was pretty dirty and when I went to the restroom, there was a cockroach on the toilet flush! I felt bad not flushing so I kinda just used my foot to shoo the cockroach away. The service is pretty bad. They gave my dad attitude when he asked if the tea was free. Yes I know that is cheap of him for asking since tea is usually around 1 $ but he just wanted to know! I notice that the workers walk away before the customers finish their sentence. They did the same to my family too. I ordered the chow mein and there wasn’t enough sauce so I asked for some more. They gave me a bowl full of sauce and damn! They aren’t stingy about their sauce so that’s good. The only bad thing about this restaurant would be the cockroach experience I had and the rude workers. Food was good though & it’s a reasonable price

I really enjoy coming in and getting my noodle fixed here. Number 1 is really good since it has chicken, shrimp, pork kidney, pork, and fish ball. Dine in comes with a free drinks that includes milk tea, lemonade, and two other sour drinks. Some free drinks aren’t always available so you need top have another choice. Service is quick and the waitress are pretty nice. They always play some sort of Vietnamese tour video so you get to see Vietnamese foods and places.

I have been going to the other noodle place in Rosemead for years. Sadly it’s now overpriced and under-flavored. New Kim Bao Restaurant has decent price and great flavor. It is possibly family own so you see kids run around sometimes. I like their #1 noodle, any rice dishes, or porridge dishes. Definitely stop by here for a bowl of comforting noodle soup before going to work. It warms my stomach for the whole day! Did I forget to mention their Lemon Ice Tea, Lemon water, and Salty Plum water are all free? My favorite is the salty plum water!!!

Honestly I think that this is one of the most underrated noodle houses Rosemead. My family loves coming here because it is very simple but tastes home cooked. And most of all. It’s not that pricy.

Parking can be a mess here. Just avoid the lunch traffic and you are all set. If you do decide to go here for lunch, most likely you’ll be parking your car along muscatel ave. Service: Can be a hit or miss here. Been here a little over ten times. So I know how it is… Sometimes you’ll be sitting there for five minutes… at times you’ll be scratching your head when it’s my turn, and at times they are fast like grease lighting! Eventually, they’ll come to you. They use to have a lunch special where your meal comes with a tea, coffee, or soy milk. Teo Chow nooodles FTW! My fave place for my fix! I usually get one or two things and I never ever never ever never ever get tired of it it! 1) Satay beef nooodle– Get this bad boy with big fat white nooodles! It’s amazing with the satay sauce. I love satay and is spicy! 2) Fried rice cake– Consists of eggs and rice mixed into a cake form! It’s so yummmy! Make sure you put the vinegar sauce on it! or better yet… get a piece and dip and eat and repeat for the duration of the amazing eating experience John’s two thumb seal of approval! Go get some!

I love noodles and this place provides all kinds. I enjoy teo chow style noodles but it’s not my favorite. My favorite is phở, and nothing can beat that. This place does have phở though, but I come for the teo chow noodle soup. I usually get their house special but this time I got like fish balls and I can’t even name it cause I only know it in Chinese. But they’re like a piece of an organ and it is very… Crunchy? I don’t know how to use this word, but it’s very good. However if you don’t find the combination of stuff you want to have in your noodle soup you can just tell them what you do and don’t want in the soup. This is one of the only teo chow noodle places that has somewhat good air circulation cause a lot of th other ones go cheap and don’t and you’re like dying and eating soupy goodness. Oh yea get some fried doughnut long thingys and dump it into the soup. Soupy goodness for sure :)

This is one of my parents favorite bargain lunch places in the San Gabriel Valley.(Depending on their dining mood they also love to go to El Monte’s Phở Filet and dim sum at Monterey Park’s Lincoln Plaza Hotel restaurant) — Free Vietnamese ice coffee with meal purchase — Tasty food, cheap prices, good service for a Chinese restaurant — I usually get the $ 6.95 chow fun stir-fried noodles(either the house-special or seafood) and it’s an awesome meal for $ 7 with lots of meat.

I come here often with the BF’s family for our weekend brunch/lunch. We only order noodles here. The two specialties are the Dry noodles(Dry mien with shrimp, pork, and liver) with a side of chicken broth and the combo yellow and white noodle soup. The Dry noodle was okay but its a big portion and you have to load it with their special red sauce(available on the table). The combo yellow egg noodle and white noodle soup(pronounced my-wong in Chinese) comes loaded with shrimp, pork, and other goodies. It also comes with vinegar mixed with minced garlic if you want to add it to your soup for more flavoring. The Vietnamese coffee comes in a to-go cup and they always fill it up with ice. So wait for the ice to melt a little before drinking your coffee or else it’ll be all gone. Haha! Service is okay.

Noodles were cheap, quick, and came with free drinks. The thin egg noodles we ordered were cooked perfectly. The sate sauce was the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Food was delicious, but it was stuffy inside with fans everywhere because they were too cheap to turn on air conditioning.

I really enjoy eating their Teo Chew Noodles but they need to put more effort into their service for me to bump up another star for them. They have great food here because their soup tasted natural with minimal msg and it is tasty compared to the other noodle places in which I’ve tried. Favorites/Recommendations: Dry Noodles Teo Chew or Dry Noodles with Shrimp and Pork Kidney, Red Rice with Fried Beef, Beef Noodle Stew(Teo Chew Style). Service: Okay, but they can work on it more. Parking: Small Parking, if you go there during their high peak times then it might be hard to find parking. Price: Fair

This is actually my 2nd time here. The 1st time was a fail because we couldn’t find parking. But I came around 11:30am yesterday and found a spot right away. So, for the food, I ordered Satay Beef noodles and fried rice cake with eggs. The noodles came out first and it waste very tasteful. The broth is super thick, you couldn’t even tell there was beef inside because of the broth. I really liked the fried rice cake. I would’ve been able to kill 2 orders of that. The service was kinda bad. But this is San Gabriel valley. I doubt the $ 5.50 per dish doesn’t include good service. I probably won’t come back here to eat because of the lack of parking and bad service, but I’d order take out. There’s no where else I’ve been where the satay noodles were this good.

I would give my oh so beloved Satay place a 5, but I have to admit this place is quite dirty sometimes. So what’s so great about this Satay? Well it has a super good mix of veggies(well not really), Spicy Peanut Sauce w/Chinese style infusion and choice of noodle types and beef. Not to mention NOWHEREELSE have I eaten satay noodles that come even CLOSE to how good this place is. Best way to eat it in my opinion? Half Thick Rice Noodles, Half Thin Egg Noodles W/an order of Flour Sticks please. That one egg and rice paste dish thingy is also quite good to eat with Satay. So enough with the goodness of Satay and on to the obviously bad things about this place. As mentioned before sometimes STUFFISDIRTY. Answer? Ask for a cup of hot water for your utensils and your good to go! Service is kind of slow on some days(You’d think they would recognize me by now after all my Satay orders) I can’t say much else for this place other than those 3 items, simply because how far I have to go just to get satay. In my humble opinion it’s a complete waste to drive up here for anything but satay.

Was here a few days ago and I got to admit that their noodles were pretty good! Also, their rice cake w/eggs were alrite. ONe thing that irritated me most was their silverware!!! ITWASREALLYREALLYDIRTY!!! I CANFEELTHESTICKINESSONTHESPOON. ACTUALLY, I HADTOSEARCHFOR A DECENT/GOOD LOOKINGSPOONANDRINSEITWITHWATERBEFOREUSE. Service was not bad but it wasn’t great either. Parking… kinda small & tight. When it gets busy… you might have to park in the street or something. NOisy little kids running around but I guess it didn’t really mattered to them since it was 6 something n they were about to close n the place was pretty emptied.

I was referred to this place to have two particular dishes: fried rice cakes with eggs(chow kueh) and beef sate egg noodles. The fried rice cakes are excellent with the sweet/sour/salty dipping sauce, while the beef sate egg noodles have the perfect level of spice. I’ve had beef sate noodles only once prior(Phở Sate in VA) and this particular bowl was definitely far more superior. I have not tried anything else, but I would definitely return just for those same two dishes.

Everytime I eat here, they ALWAYS forget my order. I usually just order something like beef Hong Kong Pan Fried noodles(that’s not the exact name) but they always forget it. Everyone’s food will be out & then we’ll ask them & they go check the order & their like«oh sorry» then i have to wait another 10 minutes for my food. By then everyone is done & I feel like I’m holding them up. this place frustrates me. Luckily for them, the food is okay. Not great, but just okay. But I steer away from this place, especially since I can get the same kind of food somewhere else.

This restaurant is pretty solid. If you’re non-cantonese or vietnamese speaking though, you might get ignored or slower service. The food here is pretty cheap, and like all other restaurants of this type, the cleanliness is not a positive factor. But if that doesnt bug you, and speaking chinese or dealing with a heavily asian-speaking restaurant is also nbd, go ahead and try this restaurant. For breakfast, go ahead and get a bowl of noodles. Pretty unorthodox, but nice and hot. Lunch? I like to get the french style filet mignon fried rice. Brings back memories. Kind of heavier on noodles or rice vs meat portion, so if youre super hungry, you might need two orders. Free drinks also, but you probably need to ask.
