Great service with reasonable price. One of the best authentic spicy hot pot place located in Los Angeles/San Gabriel area. Their 9-square style hot pot is very unique and the food quality is superb. Highly recommended for family gatherings.

I was exciting to try this hot pot place but it was disappointing because I’ve seriously had better. The spicy soup was so spicy we had to scoop all the spices out and it was still really bad. I saw someone at another table bring a bottle of pepto bismo now I know why LOL! When our bill came it was over $ 100. I’m like WTH did we get ourselves into? Never coming back again.

This joint is both temperature hot and spicy hot. This place uses real fire to cook the hot pot. They are known for having 9 sections to cook the hot pot, but we got half and half. Half spicy and half regular(YinYang pot). The spicy section was pretty spicy, I can only imagine what the 9 other section of spicy level would be like as I heard they have higher options. The sauce is also free and it is not like other hot pot places where they are stingy about it, huge plus for that and having a lot of selections. This place red everywhere, prepare to get warm when entering. The music plays half Chinese and American music, so you kinda get that Asian American vibe, but serving legit hot pot from mainland China. Overall if you love spicy food, you won’t be disappointed with the amount of spicy chili they put in.

Best Hot Pot place ever! Told my cousin I will be visiting L.A. and that we will be L.A. tourist for a weekend. She told me that she wanted some Chinese Hot Pot and I found this place on Unilocal. Got there and the place was filled with people. Had to wait about 30 mins to get our table. This place isn’t too big and will take a little longer than other restaurants because after all it is a hot pot place and you cook your own food. During the wait for our table, they gave us a form to pick out our broth and what we want. We decide to go with the half/half broth(spicy broth and non-spicy)… for the spicy side we got mild and the more you eat… the spicier it gets. I am glad we got mild. Once we got seated, the broth came out… along with all the dishes we picked. Yay… its time to eat. You can also make your dipping sauce on the side of the wall where they set out all the sauce. Tasted the broth and it was delicious! The non-spicy one was full of flavors… you can even drink it and its not too salty. with the broth being like that, I thought you will need dipping sauce, but I was wrong. I hardly use my dipping sauce because everything that we cooked in both broth came out very flavorful. The veggies we ordered were fresh. The Udon came out frozen in a block. and the beef were pretty good. I was craving for this the next night too. Definitely a must try place if you are in the L.A. area. Will come back here too if I’m visiting SoCal.

Unless you want diarrhea too, don’t bother coming here. That’s pretty much the summary of my experience at this place. Tastes are just mediocre, at best otherwise. And I left hungry still despite shelling out over $ 50 for two people. BUT, did you know? If you write a good Unilocal review then you’ll get a free drink? If you’re wondering how this place is sitting at 4.5 ratings and stroll through many of the reviews here you’ll find most of the reviewers have less than 5 reviews. because they’re cashing in on their free drink. So I wouldn’t necessarily rely on just looking at the overall rating. Little Sheep in Pasadena. Boiling Point. Shinsengumi Yakitori & Shabu Shabu. Go there for better cleanliness.

*reservations can only be made with a party of 7 – 9 people. You will be given a room and a $ 200 minimum. *parking is horribly horrible in that plaza. And street parking is a bit far. Not a bad hot pot place but the whole restaurant is kind of small. I made a reservation about 4 days in advance and it was fairly easy. Fitting 7 people at the table in the room is actually a bit difficult. It’s a lot smaller than I thought. One of my friends had to sit in the corner. The waiter was happy to switch rooms for us because we wanted to use both grills and one of them didn’t work where we sat. We got the 9 grid plus a normal broth for non spicy eaters(which includes me). We went for medium on the 9 grid. Omg that thing is so spicy. One bite and I was done with that pot. A big reason I like this place is all the offals it has. Little sheep where I live took off their kidney and intestine. but this place has brain and duck tongue and everything in between. The broth is not bad. Pretty flavorful. Ordering extra food and such is easy because there are buttons you can push for service. Paying took a while though because they accidentally swiped the wrong amount on my card. But other than that it was a good experience. They give you dessert after too!

Can I say this is the worst hotpot place I have been to compared to boiling point, little sheep, jackpot and other Japanese shabu places? It’s mediocre in tasting, way over priced and mediocre in service. Overpriced: We walked in with excitement but quickly came to dissapointmment. We ordered a large plate of lamb, and it was so small. I would hate to see what their small plate looks like. Soon, I overheard my neighbor table saying the same. «That’s it?» They said in Chinese. Mediocre Tasting: Okay, maybe they are just that good. I eagerly took a sip of the none spicy half of the Ying yang pot. And I quickly found myself at the sauce bar because it was very bland. The spicy side of the Ying yang pot was much better seasoned, so we stuck with that side of the pot. But it was still mediocrity at best. Mediocre Service: We were one of the three tables, yet we received little attention and had to chase the waiter down for water. Overall: We spent $ 66, and walked out of the place both feeling still hungry and a bit disappointed. My bf and I were baffled about how this place have such good reviews on Unilocal, yet failed to deliver. Then I remembered the banner on the wall said in chinese that they would reward you with a free drink if you write them a GOOD review. That explains a lot.

Decent hotpot restaurant. The plaza and the restaurant itself are nothing fancy — typical of San Gabriel/Rosemead Chinese restaurant environment. Wait is ok — gets busy during dinner time around 6:30−7pm. Call ahead to assess the wait time ;) Service is not attentive — but if you call the waiters you can expect to be serviced right away. Food is good — lots of choices for meat, seafood and vegetables. You get 3 choices for soup base: 9 kinds of spicy, half spicy and half bone soup, and full bone soup. The spicy ones are great(especially the mala) reminiscent of the ones served in China. Only down side is that this is NOT an all you can eat restaurant. You pay by what and how much you order. I would recommend skipping out on items like rice and focus on getting toppings for the hotpot.

BATTLINGTHEREDSEA!!! LOCATION: front corner of the complex PARKING: free at the complex. The complex was very crowded at night. I was finally parking on the street across the complex after making several attempts to score parking. SERVICE: friendly, fast and efficient(typical Chinese restaurant). I could see that they really tried their best to understand and accommodate our needs although most of them don’t really speak good command of English. Hotpot comes into 2 options: ####OPTION1: 9-box hotpot(they just separate 1 big box hotpot into 9 individual boxes: 1 broth option only) or ####OPTION2: separate boxes hotpot(mild and mala(spicy) broths) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – MEATS: premium meat, pork belly, lamb VEGETABLES: spinach, cabbage, bean curd stick, soft tofu, enoki mushroom, eggs, sweet corn Love the options of ordering half portion! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – They also have free SAUCEBAR: sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, chicken powder, etc LIFESAVERS(must order): $ 1 white rice! Udon noodle! PLUMJUICE: this has similar effect like milk to suppress the burning sensation in your mouth — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — –
The mala(spicy) pot has a very authentic Sichuan taste, very VERYSPICY! Oily! It will numb your tongue in seconds! Luckily, we ordered OPTION2 which was the best decision ever because after battling with the mala broth for a while, most of us finally opting to the mild broth. I was feeling like a dragon on fire, flying across the red sea(various spices simmered with oil, Sichuan peppercorn, chili pepper only on sight) with my only weapon which was chopsticks, ready to score any meats I could find. The whole table looked like we just finish exercise somewhere: runny nose, Asian glow, heavy breathing and sweating. We felt more energize after meal. We finished STRONG! What a night to remember! This place is very good for anyone who has strong stomach or HIGH curiosity for authentic spicy foods. INSTANTDETOX!!!

I was fooled into coming here thinking that there are 9 different flavor soups with the 9 slots pot they offer. Instead, there are holes all over that allow all the soup of mix so even though there are 9 slots, the soup tastes the same. Regardless of the disappointment, I still really like this hot pot joint. The soup is flavorful and I like the selections. They also have half orders for most items so that allowed us to order a larger variety of things. The best part about Jiouding is the chili oil and dry chili they have for dipping. You can purchase it at $ 1 each and it’s big enough for 2 people to share. They also have a good sauce bar that you can make your own sauce at for free but trust me, the chili oil and dry chili is worth every penny. Make sure you get that. The service is not great but it’s a Chinese restaurant so I wasn’t expecting much. They have a parking lot but it was full so I had to circle for a long time before finding a spot. There are also some street parking but that requires a little bit of walking to the restaurant.
