Just finished a long day of dirt biking with my family and we looked up Mexican food nearby. Don Sal’s came up. This place was sooooo good!!! The waiters were all super on top of everything and very nice. I ordered fajitas my boyfriend ordered the mole and his son ordered a burrito. Not a SINGLE complaint in regards to our visit here. We will without a doubt be back… and be telling our riding friends and family about this stop off on the way home to Redondo Beach. Ps they offer a 10% veteran/military discount which we took advantage of :) Thanks Don Sal!

Yesterday I ordered zapares to go. I really liked the food so I told about my fiancé about the place. Today I went back and ordered zapares for me and he wanted carnitas. His carnitas came with 3 flour tortillas. The first tortilla had mold. I called the restaurant and they didn’t even care about it. They asked me if I wanted to go back to get more tortillas!!! Yes, I want more of your mood tortillas. For the zapares I removed the tortillas. No mold there. But I couldn’t think about eating the food anymore. They didn’t offer a discount or a refund. They just didn’t care. Well, there was the last time I ate there. I’ll make sure to tell everyone about it.

Best Mexican food in the valley. I’ve tried many places and this was by far the best. Start with your chips and salsa AND beans(which are amazing) and then anything you order it will be delicious. I got the chili colorado burrito(my favorite Mexican burrito) and I was not disappointed. A little spicy but I loved it and wanted more.

I went here based on a friend’s recommendation. I was a little disappointed. The food was okay. The piña colada was okay. I was hoping for more authentic Mexican food. I was hoping for more based on all of the great reviews.

The staff is really helpful and they try their best to give you what you need even when its busy /you are part of a large party. They have mojitos here which are super tasty and their chicken tortilla soup is one of my faves. They have good portions considering some plates come with a side salad or soup option. Its a small restaurant but they do large party reservations if you call and ask. Sals is great bc it can accommodate large groups and also has smaller tables surrounding the bar for those just out on a date.

I’m from Los Angeles and love love love GOOD Mexican food. The one down the street is good. The one on the other side of town is ok. This one is AMAZING!!! Customer service is the best! Don’t let the packed parking lot deter you. Never waited more than 5 minutes including have 5 or more people! Our waitress is amazing. The owners and managers are family. Come out to greet us every time! Food is so full of flavor and love the beans and cheese with the chips and salsa. I seriously think my kids can eat here everyday! Their alcohol is priced greatly! No outrageous LA pricing here like other places. Deserts and food portions are wonderful. Expect to have leftovers! They also support our local community organizations! Go Local!!!

The food we ate was either bland or way too salty. I rarely give low Unilocal-star ratings for restaurants, but this was probably the worst Mexican food I have tasted in my life. I would rather eat at a chain restaurant, such as El Torito Grill than this. If you are a «food nerd» and have tasted highly regarded, top rated Mexican restaurants or street food in Los Angeles or in Mexico, I recommend packing a lunch if you are coming up this way. This area is not really a dining out destination. If this place has 4.5 stars on Unilocal, this is not a good indication of the food options in this area. It seems like the locals love this place. This again is one of those highly rated restaurants on Unilocal where people either don’t want to «break the chain» of 5-star reviews or haven’t had better Mexican food than this. Their handmade corn tortillas were horrible as well. I have had better Mexican food in many places in California, Texas, and Mexico to know that this place is not as good as some of the Mexican restaurants I’ve tried. The prices are really high for mediocre food and it seems as if they are taking advantage of the limited dining options and lack of competition out there by charging the exorbitant prices.

Went here on our way home from Mammoth based on all the Unilocal reviews and it certainly lived up to its hype! Everything was delicious, service was great, and we will definitely be back on our next trip to or from mammoth!

Delicious authentic Mexican food! We also had amazing service. Our waitress asked if we were military to apply their military discount. This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in Rosamond. I highly recommend this place!

I can’t remember a time where I had such delicious Mexican food outside of Los Angeles. First lets talk beans. If your not a refried beans lover at all, please give these a try. I hate beans with a bloody passion, but I tried these. Now they are the only beans I will eat. Save some salsa for your rice because you will not be disappointed. This last trip there I got the carne asada steak. I have never had a carne asada quite like this. It was literally a full fledged steak seasoned with the best carne asada seasoning I have ever had. This steak was so juicy and I wished it didn’t end. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla, and I wished I got something less cheesy. Don’t get me wrong I love cheese, but I might have went overboard when I at the whole thing. So far after even getting a taste of the fish tacos(amazing) and the carnitas tacos(also amazing), I am crowning the carne asada king. Lets not forget the quality service they offer on a daily basis. For those of us that work at Edwards or who are active duty military there is a 10% discount which is a great offer and deal after a couple beers and steak.

My favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere, and I tend to eat Mexican food 3x a week at least. I usually get the chicken fajitas with their home made corn tortillas. Their jalapeño ranch dressing is also really good. Service is also also top notch. You won’t be disappointed here. Well worth the trip to Rosamond.

This place is… how should I say it? Amazing! Ok, so it’s not often you see a five star Mexican restaurant on Unilocal.Five solid stars is hard to pull off, especially when it isn’t some crazy LA fusion style Mexican restaurant. When we moved to Tehachapi area we were wanting some great Mexican food and was not willing to go down to Bakersfield where we have ate at every one many times. We tried some of the places in Tehachapi and were very disappointed. Upon checking Unilocal or a place, and we were willing to venture a little further out, I saw a place with five solid stars called Sal’s. I was like no way? How can a Mexican food restaurant in Rosamond have such a great rating and lots of reviewers? I read the reviews skeptically, thinking it must be all their friends or something, but nope they were very genuine reviews. At this point we had no choice other then go to Sal’s, and we did. What a great experience from start to finish, and everything was just amazing. We have been back to Sal’s many times since, and it’s worth the 35 minute drive. The place isn’t all fancy inside, very typical décor and this didn’t bother us at all. The kids liked their food, and the staff is always super nice. I have had many dishes and have not been let down once. The portions are great, and we always have food to take home. One thing I really like is they bring you a small bowl of beans in addition to the salsa for your chips. Yum! The chicken tortilla soup is dynamite too! All I can say is you must try Sal’s, you will not be disappointed.

After receiving some great news, I told my hubs that we had to celebrate and since I had been craving good Mexican food and had read so many glowing reviews about S’s, we decided to make a short day trip out to Rosamond/Lancaster. This restaurant is located not too far from the14 freeway off exit 55 Rosamond. After making a right on Sierra hwy, the restaurant is located on the right side, right before you hit a small gas station. The exterior of the restaurant was surprisingly in great shape. I’m not sure how long the restaurants been here for, but I was expected more of a hole in the wall worn down joint. It is pretty noticeably and you definitely won’t miss it, especially in the day time. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess and asked if we preferred to sit in the dining area or bar. We originally chose the dining area, but after I realized there were a few big screen tvs, with a few different games on and the bball tournament, I asked a waiter if we could switch sides, which of course wasn’t an issue. We came around 1 and was expecting it to be busier but thankfully it didn’t get too busy until we left. The bar side was also noticeably less noisier, but probably because there were more people on the other side. Once we sat down, we were given a basket of chips, salsa and a bowl of beans with cheese on top. I was über excited to eat everything here and I definitely over hyped it. The chips had a great combination of crunch but not a hard crunch and lightness to them, but I couldn’t help but taste the grease on my lips and in my mouth after having one. But that didn’t stop me from having more. The salsa was definitely different from what I’m used to or have gotten. It’s more of a watery consistency and had an interested roasted chipotle flavor to it. My hubs said it was pretty spicy but I thought it was mild. The complimentary bean dip was okay and a bit bland to me, but after mixing the dip and salsa made it a better combo than alone. It took a little less than 30 min to get our meal, which we didn’t mind too much, since the game was on and realized sitting in the bar area probably doesn’t get served quite as quick as the dining room side. But we did get a second basket of chips and dip to munch on while waiting for our food. For our entrees, I ordered cheese enchiladas ranchers which came with the option of soup or salad and rice, beans, sour cream and guacamole. Since I don’t get the chance to get albondigas soup very often, I chose that and my hubs ordered a carnitas dish with a salad with blue cheese. At first glance, my soup looked delicious with chunks of carrots, celery, onions and a big meatball, but was so disappointed with how salty the soup was. The temperature of the soup was also uneven, so I’m gonna take a big leap and say it was microwaved? Which I realized wasn’t the only thing that was in our meal. I took a few bites to see if maybe it was just in one spot but after a couple spoonfuls and images of swallowing a spoon full of salt, I stopped. I was a little worried that it may even spoil the main dish and can’t say if it did or didn’t. My dish came out hot and the temp of everything was hot but not scalding hot. My cheese enchilada was ok but the sauce on the enchilada was pretty salty. The rice was pretty good and moist. And the beans were a bit bland. My hubs had pretty much the same sides but his dish came with two corn(or flour) tortillas that seems homemade by the different size/shape and a lettuce mixture and carnitas. I took a bite of his carnitas, which tasted microwaved and was pretty chewy. I wasn’t a fan, but he seemed to like it. I was really hoping to fall in love with this place, like many Unilocalers have but unfortunately, I wasn’t that big of a fan. But hey, it could’ve been a bad day. One big plus is their horchata has unlimited refills for only three bucks. It may be one of the best and heaviest horchata’s I’ve had. You can definitely taste hints of cinnamon and condensed milk, along with the rice milk. My hubs was a huge fan of the drink. The restaurant was pretty clean and all of the waiters and waitresses were friendly and attentive. I could tell that many of their patrons are military cause we were asked a couple of times if we were, so it’s great they make sure to give to those who serve our country!

So today we went in and had a new waitress serving us, Mariah, whose service was fabulous! We decided to try the Mexican shrimp cocktail, and once we added some ketchup to it and stirred that in, we found that this was a delightfully refreshing dish! We both agreed that we would definitely order this again and share it. By the way, honorable mention to bus-person Hector who did a very good job taking care of us. We both ordered a side salad, very generous sized servings, and I really appreciated the polite nicety in the fact that they actually serve this with a chilled fork. Extra points for that! Mr. Picky did his usual thing and ordered what he almost always orders in any Mexican restaurant, the Chili Relleno à la carte. Me, I decided to try a new dish, and ordered the Arroz con Pollo with extra cheese, delicious grilled chicken on a bed of rice with great seasoning … very flavorful. The restaurant that served my favorite version of this dish is now closed, but in memory of their serving it with pineapple rings, I asked for pineapple on the side and they very graciously brought that. We walked out with masses of food having been served, tasty, lots of leftovers and the bill when it arrived on the table was pre-tax only $ 31.

Unless you’re here for the track or are passing through, you really wouldn’t go to this area to find a decent meal. I didn’t expect much because of that and I was pleasantly surprised. My buddies and I were racing at Willow Springs International Raceway which is a few miles down the road from here. We were hungry and wanted to eat somewhere close(and didn’t want to eat at Jack-in-the-Box or McDonald’s) and one of my friends found this place on Unilocal.I was a little hesitant when we pulled up(the parking is a dirt lot and it’s right by the train tracks), but it was great. The servers were friendly and took our drink orders and gave us chips, beans and salsa right away. They kept refilling our drinks and chips. The salsa was fresh and the chips were good. I ordered the molcajete, which was massive! Basically, it’s a heated stone bowl with a bubbling sauce with pieces of beef, chicken, cheese, veggies and shrimp cooking in it. There was so much food. But, it had great flavor and my friends and I(I couldn’t finish it) really enjoyed it. The sauce, the meats, the tortillas and the presentation were great. Next time I go to Willow Springs, I am definitely coming back.
