Stingrays Bar and Grill was very close to where we were staying. I don’t know if that’s the reason we have to returning there, but I don’t think so. This is obviously a mobile hotspot and it is very contagious. The staff is very friendly, the locals are willing to tell you about the town and what to do when C, the drinks are inviting as is the food. If you sit in the dining room you can watch The Sound area and see people kiteboarding and enjoying themselves, it’s a very exciting view. They have a large bar and a karaōke or band stage which was opened one of the nights we were there in a few people decided to get up in the test of vocal cords I don’t know if that was such a good idea but it wasn’t me, haha. The food is wonderful! I got a pound of jumbo shrimp that tasted like it was right off the boat that day for a mere $ 10, you can even buy it in the grocery store for that amount. We all love the ambiance and overall fun, laid back attitude of this establishment. We also loved all the food we tried here as it was always spot on. I would highly recommend that you go here for lunch or dinner when you find yourself in the OBX area. On my next visit it will definitely be on my list of places to go and things to do. What’s a girl to do? When you find a place that feels like home and you’re comfortable, he just kind of want to go back and chillax.

We were looking for some seafood and we were told to check them out. It was off season(November) and we arrived an hour before they were closing, so we knew that they may be out of something. They actually had everything, so we diced on the Shrimp Dinner which was made of jumbo shrimp grilled that was served with coleslaw and another side. We all selected the mash potatoes. Everything was great. Shrimp was cooked perfect and the mashed potatoes were amazing. I wasn’t expecting such great potatoes! I ordered takeout for my wife before I left, but forgot to order her a sweet tea. The waitress was so friendly, she gave us two glasses since they were ready to close. Great food and definitely great friendly service.

Granted it is getting close to the end of the season here in the Outer Banks but this place was still open and had a good recommendation from a friend. We go in and get seated and order our drinks. The waitress tells us right away that they are out of tuna, and we were disappointed because that was one of the things we were looking forward to. So we order some shrimp, calamari and a few of us order fish and chips. I ordered a beer to go with my fish and chips. The waitress comes back a few minutes later and says I’m sorry we are out of fish and chips and basically most of our baskets except for chicken strips. Really? Chicken strips are just why I came to the Outer Banks. We were terribly disappointed but we decided to order a crab cake sandwich that claimed to be lump crab. We get the sandwich and let me tell you there were no lumps of any kind to be found. I could have definitely made better myself with some frozen crab cakes. I definitely will not be back here. It is one thing to be out of something, but what you have left on the menu better be good!!!

Wednesday night you must be here for Karaōke. We happened to be in from out of town and staying close but, we have never heard such an amazing group of singers. This place has an amazing dive feeling and makes you forget everything and just have a good time. Amazing voices, great people, and reasonably priced drinks. Don’t miss it!

We came to StingWrays for lunch yesterday. The first week of off season, the place was fairly empty. The bartender was great; she was the only one on the floor serving both dining room and bar. I can’t remember her name but she was sweet and attentive despite being the only one there. The food service was good, we didn’t have a long wait even though there was about four other tables besides us. I had the sesame/wasabi tuna appetizer, rare, and it was awesome! I had it as a meal since I wasn’t very hungry. It could definitely be a meal for someone if you order it with a side. I was very impressed with the wasabi dressing and the overall taste of the tuna. Other people in my group had the Caesar salad and the crab quesadilla. My friend really liked the salad but my stepmom didn’t care for the crab quesadilla. We live very close to the Chesapeake so she had said that the ones she’s had at home have tasted better and that this one tasted like the meat was either old or was canned crab. Four stars for the service and tuna. I will definitely be back next year!

Really Poor Service, and unfriendly staff. We’re asked to hurry and place our order as they were closing within the hour. Food is pricey as well

Went for dinner on last night of vacation because we kept eating at the same place over and over and felt we should try something new. Service was really slow even though it was not packed but they were friendly. Bartender was a little too friendly actually. Food was decent. I had a chicken sandwich that I very much enjoyed but everyone else got various fried food/fish baskets and they were not overly thrilled with their meals. We also got a few pitchers of beer, good selection.

Food was decent. Can’t complain about fried fish. It also isn’t too hard to mess up. I got the same dish twice in the same week(Sting Wray Basket). The service the first night was good. The waiter was friendly, attentive and informative. The second time we went there, the young girl seemed bothered that we were sitting outside, effectively creating more work for her because she had to walk further than normal. The good things about this place is the outdoor area, view of the sunset, horse shoes and corn hole. The negatives were the witness in the second night and the foul odor emanating from the breather pipe for the cesspool which happened to be under a table that another couple was sitting at.

Awesome cocktails! Not too sweet or overly strong, the fruit juices were very fresh. Everyone was very friendly and the food was great! We would definitely go back!

Reasonably priced and great food! Under trying conditions with a full house, they rocked tonight.

We stopped in for dinner and drinks while on vacation. We had great service, and the food was good. We tried a few different items on the menu, and nothing was disappointing. We were a little annoyed by several flies buzzing around, but other than that it was a good experience. Great views of the wind surfers!

Went here for dinner on the other night, four in our party, Service was very good, sat outside on the deck. Seats could be a little more soft. We threw horseshoes and played some cornhole after dinner. Nice to hang out afterwards and have some drinks waiting for the sunset. Unfortunately clouds did roll in and prevented getting the best picture. Food was excellent, one of our party remarked that his cheese steak was the best he had since Philly. Seafood was cooked to perfection. Very very pleased.

We were here visiting family and decided to stop in. We heard it was under new management, wanted to give it a try. We decided to eat on the deck because of how nice it was to overlook the sound and watch the windsurfers. Such a chill spot. Ordered some wings and started to play corn hole game outback. It was fun to play the game while we waited for the food. The wings were amazing, crispy with good flavor and there was plenty of meat on the wings unlike some places. We wanted some fresh fish so we ordered the tuna burrito and the tuna dinner. We are both very happy with what we got. Good-sized portion of fresh local fish. Can’t beat that local fresh catch. We had salad, fries, and rice that all equalled the same quality as the fish. Staff were all very welcoming and checked on us a number of times making sure we were taking care of. They even kept coming out and checking on us outside on the grass while we played the corn hole game. Even though we had fun playing while waiting for our food, we needed the food to be great for us to come back– and it was. We’ll definitely come back again.

This was down the street from our campground so we decided to check it out. We got the StingWray Basket, which has fish, shrimp, and oysters, all fried and served with cocktail and tartar sauce. Was pretty good, and very filling to split between two people. We got a pitcher of the Carolina Blonde, which was also pretty good. Overall a pretty so-so place, great if you’re in the area with nothing else to do. The bartender was friendly and gave us a rundown on the area and places to go.

Food was good. We ordered seared scallops with a honey ginger dressing they were excellent. The wasabi does not have as much of a bite as traditional wasabi. We also shared the grilled tuna sandwich. The flavors were great, grilled exactly as ordered, not overdone. Asked for cucumber wasabi on the side, this added a good element. The service is SLOW! Don’t go if you’re in a rush because you’ll be there for at least an hour. Nice views of kite boarders doing their thing, this helped the time to pass. Overall we’d visit again.

First time here… Best fresh tuna we have had in a long time. Graham, our waiter, was knowledgable, caring and made great recommendations. How we missed this place in the last 12 years is our loss. Don’t miss out go for lunch or dinner. Great food and atmosphere!

StingWray’s is okay by me. While they do fry seafood, they flash fry properly so everything retains its juices and flavor and isn’t all dried out. The service is friendly and(when not overwhelmed by indecisive tourists) fairly fast. They even have a respectable, though not vast, beer selection with the fantastic Black Radish on tap. Good for a place to just hang out or to have a not-too-expensive supper. The only real problem is that it can get a little too loud on karaōke nights, but I just choose to avoid those.

Stumbled across this place during our vacation last week, and I was very hesitant. Definitely don’t judge a book by its cover — lesson learned! We ordered the fried clams basket and the combo basket that had fish, fried oysters(holy delicious!!! And I don’t even like oysters!), and shrimp. Both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered a drink(can’t remember what it’s called — it was a coconut flavored drink) that was made perfectly. Pricing is great, service is great, food is delicious. They have the hook game(ring on a string and have to toss it on a hook), corn hole, and horse shoes out back. We sat out back on the patio with beautiful view of the sound. Will definitely return.

We came here in April so for us Californians it was a touch too cold to sit outside on the deck. OBX was going through an unexpected cold snap(weird weather) so we sat inside. I agree with another reviewer it can be a bit bright inside. They have a good selection of beers and the atmosphere is friendly and casual. I had the chicken fingers which were heavily breaded and the fries. Both were cooked well and the service was solid.
