Wonton soup was mush, they only deliver now and you have to spend a minimum of 15. Not very good.

This place«re-opened» but they are really just using Tony Lin’s Kitchen kitchen space to make their food while they look for a new retail space to re-open in. We tried the place and found the General Tso’s to be inferior to that of Tony Lin’s, there was a weird taste, kind of similar to something you’d expect from old frozen food. They have brown rice like Tony Lin’s does(but they don’t mention it on the menu like Tony Lin does). The meat dumplings were average. Maybe we got a bad batch from what really is Tony Lin’s(that’s my hunch), I really doubt they keep their operation completely separate from Tony Lin’s.

We just ordered there for the first time tonight and we were blown away. We had some trouble finding a Chinese place that didn’t use MSG, but thankfully we found Wild Ginger. AWESOME doesn’t do it justice. I’ve never had Chinese that looked so freshly made and tasted so good. Wow! This is definitely my new favorite restaurant.

I ordered from Wild Ginger last Saturday night and it was a really pleasant surprise. Since arriving in North Bethesda 4ish months ago, I have been looking for a good Chinese Takeout place. Having struck out with the abomination of Seven Seas and settled for mediocre fare from Tony Lins, Mandarin Wok, and City Lights, I was glad that I happened upon Wild Ginger. Hot and Sour soup is pretty much a staple in my diet, and Wild Ginger’s did not disappoint. Ample tofu and egg whites, and without the abundance of nondescript mystery meat you find floating around in some restaurant’s versions. I got the large and it was as good reheating it the next day as the first portion was Saturday night. Sometimes Hot and Sour soups contain tons of corn starch turning the reheating process into a gloopy nightmare, but not Wild Ginger’s. My main course was Orange Shrimp, which although wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, wasn’t bad either. A lot of restaurants don’t offer this dish in the area, so I was pleased to find it. A recurrent problem I’ve seen with shrimp is it being a) mushy and b) tasting like it’s been sitting in wok oil remnants for the better part of the last week, and Wild Ginger didn’t fall victim to this. Overall, a solid 3.5. The Hot and Sour Soup was a 4, the entrée was a 3/3.5. I will definitely order from Wild Ginger again and see what their vegetarian dishes have to offer.

Wild Ginger did not close. They just moved to the industrial side of Parklawn. They still cover the same delivery area too. That being said, WG makes some tasty food at great prices! I order delivery from them at least once every two weeks. Every time I call they are super friendly. They are a family owned and care about the quality of the food.

This sux they are now closed… :(Just when you find something really good then it’s gone. It’ hard economic times and places are shutting doors left and right. But out of the old rises the new see my new review for the new place in this spot called«Lusitania» I hope not named after the ship that was sunk by the Germans in 1917 during WW I.

I’ve been curious about this place for a while, and reading Derryk’s positive review of Wild Ginger, my husband and I ordered a bunch of food for delivery. The lady who answered the phone was pleasant, brisk, and businesslike, which I really like. We ordered pan-fried meat dumplings for 6 ct /$ 4.75, which were tasty. The dough was just the right consistency – not too thick like some dumplings have been in the past at other establishments. There was a lot of meat in the dumpling too, which was awesome. The dipping sauce that accompanied the dumplings had a vinegary, sweet, almost spicy kick to it, which is another nice twist. For our entrees, hubs ordered the«Tinkling Bells Combo,» which was jumbo shrimp, chicken, pork, and vegetables(broccoli, mushrooms, sliced water chestnuts, snow peas, and baby corn) stir-fried in a brown sauce for $ 11.95. The dish was topped with bell-shaped, crispy fried won tons. I thought the dish was yummy – the vegetables were cooked nicely, and still crisp even after delivery. The shrimp and chicken were good and firm, but I didn’t try any pork because I didn’t see any. I think my husband ate most of it by the time I got around to sampling this dish. We shared a chicken fried rice, which was standard. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t dislike it. I suppose I was indifferent because it was alright. I don’t have much to say about it I guess, besides there was plenty of chicken in it, which is great. I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken(GTC) for $ 9.95. I know, I know, what a dull choice, but my litmus test for most Chinese places is the GTC or Sesame Chicken. The GTC was crispy, with a thick, sweet and spicy sauce, and some steamed broccoli. It was really good. The batter was relatively thin – I didn’t find chunks of chicken that were overwhelmed with thick, doughy, batter. Most of the battered pieces of chicken had a very thin layer of batter. It was a very meaty, satisfying dish. I definitely would order this again. I definitely have found a go-to Chinese place now. The prices are very reasonable, the people who work there are pleasant, the quality of the food is excellent, and the quantity of food they give you is extremely generous. I think I have enough GTC left to eat for two more meals, and that’s a lot, because I’m sitting here, stuffed. Even though I’m very full right now, next time I want to try their Crispy Beef, Walnut Shrimp, and Chicken with Cashew Nuts. I highly recommend this place for takeaway or delivery. It’s fantastic, so far!
