The seaweed salad was perfectly prepared and fresh. We would recommend the alaska roll, vegas roll and red snapper.

I just ordered pick up tonight for some sushi. It was good. All was good no complaints. Very reasonable in price. I got around 36 pieces for 30 bucks everything included. 4.50 a roll of 6. I will be coming back for sure

The sushi was good, I got the California roll, shrimp tempura roll and crunchy shrimp roll. The reason why I gave a 4 star was because of the delivery, took some time. But overall I would come back & order.

This place has excellent sushi at a price that is very good for sushi. The lunch special that they have on some days is an especially great deal. The fried rice is good too. The restaurant has a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. A great place to get lunch with friends.

Old Kimura is my go-to sushi place; my boyfriend and I LOVE it. The happy salmon roll is one of our favorites. The fish always tastes fresh and they are generous with their portions. As an added bonus, delivery doesn’t take long and is free, and the lunch special is a bargain. I would not recommend coming here if you are more interested in ramen or udon; there are plenty of places that specialize in just noodle dishes and probably do them better than Old Kimura does. But for casual sushi in Rockville, Old Kimura can’t be beat.

Our first visit to Old Kimura. Service by our server Tenk was excellent. All the makis were superb, particularly the spicy crunchy California roll. The pan fried dumplings or gyoza were also first class. Outstanding! We will be back!

I do not want to call it Japanese food. At least the restaurant was clean. Use your hard earned money to some other restaurants.

The pictures of the Volcano Roll enticed me to give this place a try. Today, I stopped by… it’s located in a shopping center off Rockville Pike. The curbside appeal is nothing to write home about, and neither is the interior. When I went inside, I was greeted by a waitress. There was only one other family inside. The waitress promptly took my order. I ordered the Volcano Roll, and my daughter order the California Roll and Shrimp Fried Rice. The Volcano Roll was tasty, and had a mild kick to it. My daughter said, «PF Chang’s California Roll is better,» so take what you will from that. We both agreed that the Shrimp Fried Rice was HORRIBLE. To quote my daughter again, «It’s plain; they didn’t season it.» Needless to say, we do not recommend the rice. If you’re in the vicinity, I would recommend trying the sushi. Other than that, this is not a restaurant that left a lasting impression. I don’t think I’ll be a repeat customer.

The food is excellent for the price. I had the sashimi dinner and the fish was very fresh and seemed to melt in my mouth. My friends got the chicken donburi(chicken over rice) and some of the roll sushi. They also said everything was great. One star off for slow service even though the place only had three tables filled. They also can’t serve alcohol yet as they are still getting their license. However, we will be coming back for the great food and hopefully after work drinks!

Good sushi, nice place. The sushi is fresh with a great flavor and nice presentation. The decoration and music make your experience more pleasure. The service is excellent.

The second time around was worse to my hunger surprise. I understand the weather can be inclement on various levels, but if you can’t handle the weather don’t open your restaurant. I literally re-ordered my previous order with adding another item. Due to the weather I made sure to be extra giving in tipping. My order was incomplete by two items, the Smoked Salmon Fried Rice was undercooked regular salmon(I rarely eat fried rice yet this was steamed brown rice) & my Spring Rolls were cold & soggy. Again, if you can’t stand the cold elements, keep your kitchen closed.

I came here on a Saturday with the GF and some friends. Walked in and we were literally the only people in. Kinda got me worried me, but I saw the reviews on Unilocal and still wanted to try the place out… I ordered the Dancing Eel/Rainbow Roll and the chicken udon noodle soup… what can I say? I was starving haha… I originally wanted the ramen but the waitress said they don’t have it… Not sure if they are no longer serving it or just for that night… My GF ordered the shrimp tempura udon noodle soup For the food itself, it was really good… No complaints here. I would definitely come back again to try many other items from the menu The place itself is not too big and only will fit a few people… They do accept credit cards and there is a private parking lot… Definitely worth coming too again!

Here’s why I’ve stopped coming: Salmon sashimi seems less than fresh the past several times I’ve ordered it… I don’t care how cheap the rolls are if they are OK with serving raw fish that is past it’s prime. If there are three or more tables seated, the service is slow because the waitress is usually overwhelmed. They charge for terrible green tea and the miso soup is mediocre. In the past I put up with this in the name of cheap rolls, but at Sushi House the tea is complimentary and the miso soup is much better.

I really wanted to love this place. It looks like a Mom and Pop place with their young adult kids helping to run it… my favorite kind of place to frequent. Let’s start with the good. One type of ramen and it tasted fine. It was $ 11 which I thought was kind of pricey for a bowl of noodles, fish cakes, pickled ginger, scallions and a hard boiled egg. Then I tasted the pork. Oh my!!! It was marinated and perfectly cooked. It was fatty but not too fatty. I could seriously eat a plate of just the pork. There were 4 generous pieces. Oh so good. I am not a ramen expert and everything else was just«ok». The best things are the sushi rolls. Maki. The simple ones were only $ 4. Salmon roll, $ 4. Tuna roll, $ 4. I ordered an eel and avocado roll. Guess how much! Nope. Not $ 4. It was $ 4.25. Seriously? I saw they had a lunch special of 2 rolls for $ 6.25. I would definitely come back then or at dinner because $ 8 for two rolls is inexpensive. The two things to avoid: Green salad with fuji apple dressing($ 4) and spring rolls($ 2.50). The dressing is really delicious but a bowl of romaine lettuce and a few carrot shavings is not worth $ 4. I think it was exactly one head of baby romaine. I know this has to be a big money maker, but either add some tomatoes and cucumber or drop the price to $ 2. The two spring rolls looked delicious! I was told they had pork inside, but I did not see any. I took a bite and they were perfectly crispy on the outside but so mushy on the inside. I think it was frozen and just wasn’t cooked long enough. Honestly, I cannot think of any other reason how the middle could be so mushy. Seriously pass this up and order another maki roll. I would come back but only for the maki sushi rolls.

This restaurant has gotten better. Had the tempura udon and I really enjoyed the tempura. They don’t put it in the soup but on a plate. I think it’s better this way so the pieces won’t get soggy from the soup. Will they finally replace the Oseyo sign in front of the restaurant– sheesh. It’s been almost two years already.

I’m only giving a 1-Star rating based on the Tonkotsu Ramen I ordered. It. Is. Bad. The broth was like water, but white-ish. There was zero flavor in the broth. I didn’t think broth could be so flavorless. No seasoning. The pork was bland. The noodles were mushy. The egg sucked. Man, there is nothing good about this ramen. They should take it off the menu, for seriously really. Take it off. Any off the shelf packaged ramen is a billion times better than this. Don’t get it. Really, please don’t waste your money on it. It’s not proper ramen nor proper anything. it really really really shouldn’t be served.

Three and a half stars. Oseyo /Old Kimura is a charming hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant with plenty of parking in the shared strip lot. Service is friendly, easily flagged down, and asked us for feedback on their newest special: kara age. The early batch we tried tasted like like an evening’s worth of tempura, and could have been battered more thickly with smaller pieces. Meat was tender, so I look forward to seeing improvement on the dish. Sushi rolls were fresh and tasty, well-shaped and prettily presented; volcano maki impressed me over the spicy crunchy shrimp roll. While the former looked overdressed, its flavors worked well without making everything soggy… and the lack of tails in the latter was a touch disappointing to me. Tonkotsu ramen offered pork slices more tender than Temari’s, decently chewy noodles, and a fair amount of goodies. Soft-boiled soy egg, fish cakes, reasonably tasty broth, bamboo, shredded nori, chopped scallion, sesame seeds; no bean sprouts in our orders. So far my favorite MoCo ramen spot!

My ultimate search for authentic ramen lead me to this place in rockville. The trip was long and hazardous due to the holiday rush with half craze shoppers and zombie like drivers occupying the roads. The place was empty when we got there. The restaurant is run by chinese and not japanese so my hopes in having a good bowl of ramen was immediately dashed. The steaming hot bowl of tonaktsu ramen came and it looked promising until I tasted the broth. It is tasteless lacking the flavors which you normally find in a decent bowl of ramen. The pork was rubbery. So that being said skip the ramen on the menu. The sushi rolls on the other hand were a treat. It was decent and tasted ok.
