I’ve been to this location a few times now and I have yet to have a negative experience. The stuff here are very knowledgeable about the games that are currently out as well as the games that are coming out. The store is also very clean and well organized which some game stops have an issue with. I’ve also had some occurrences where above and beyond support was needed for some issues with purchases and the staff have Risen to the occasion every time to make sure that I was happy as a customer. All in all I would say if you’re looking for a new game that maybe out or maybe even a game that is coming out you should stop by this game stop and go ahead and preorder the game or see if they have a preowned copy of something that is already out.

I come here to pick-up any pre-orders, but have been shopping here less since they rarely offer any pre-order bonuses. That may not be their fault but when Best Buy, Wal-Mart or even Target is offering a pre-order bonus, why would I come to GameStop? oh well, GameStop is here when I need them, so there’s that!

The best Gamestop in the area. Very laid back environment without the annoying pressure at locations like Montgomery Mall. Seth was great and very helpful. Cares about customers’ happiness and satisfaction. Good selection as well !

This is my GameStop of choice. This GameStop team completely nerfs all of the other«gamer stores» in the area. The staff here are well trained, knowledgeable, and are incredible at multi-tasking. For a 1-up experience, visit the GameStop at Rockville Federal Plaza.

There’s very little reason to ever buy video games from a brick and mortar store anymore. Therefore, it’s a testament to the quality of the staff that I continue to spend money here even in 2013. You could save a few dollars and buy from Amazon but you also lose something that is a big part of the gaming experience: talking with fellow gamers. Modern consumers have turned into sharks about prices. It is so important that we pay the cheapest price possible that we turn ourselves into antisocial price-checking robots. Well, I work hard so I don’t have to be a penny pinching robot and that’s why I buy most of my games locally. I don’t know how I feel about GameStop as a corporate entity, but I do know that the people who work in their stores are awesome and make the gaming world a better place. Suffice to say that this is my favorite GameStop location and I try to avoid ever making returns at this location(sorry GameStop at the mall).

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Honestly, I’m not a fan of GameStop in general. I think their customer service is awful. But this location in particular really has gone out of their way to annoy me. I reserved a game for my son and paid the $ 5 fee which would then be deducted from the cost of the game. On the day of the release, I went in to pick it up and they didn’t have our reservation. And, there were none in stock. I had my receipt showing that I’d reserved and paid and they basically just shrugged AND would not refund my $ 5. Something about it being against company policy and that if I came back the next day, they’d have it for me. I left. Called White Flint and they were as nice as could be. Kept the store open a few minutes late so that I could get there. I told them the story and they basically told me that the other guy was FOS. I get that mistakes happen, but they just didn’t care. And, I’m still out my $ 5. So I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Ostensibly, Gamestop presents itself as «just some place to pick up games.» What if I were to offer for consideration the notion that a Gamestop could slowly inform your notion of what good customer service can be? Admittedly, gamers(or those that can’t stand them) will invariably have strong feelings on the topic. Allow me, for a moment, to set aside the validity or social relevance of gaming. In it’s place, consider simply what constitutes good service(regardless of forum or intent). First a caveat: I am hard-nosed when it comes to good service. I crave it wherever I can find it… to the point I do my best to act in kind(ever heard the old axiom: reap what you sow?) No matter if I am browsing ties at an Hermès boutique, trolling for produce at an outdoor farmer’s market, or shuffling about in an airport lounge; I strive for situational awareness, decency, and low impact. «So where are you going with this, Jason?» My point is that I consider good service to be a reflection of my default shopping posture. I expect shop keepers to be situationally aware. That is not to say I want them hunched over expecting inbound mortal attacks; no. I hope that they recognize patrons entering or leaving their establishment, that they offer some semblance of social decorum in the form of a «welcome to…» or «thanks for shopping with us…» and that they pick up on the(often unspoken) physical queues that indicate assistance is needed or desired. At my local Gamestop, I am often surprised how well this is achieved. Sure, I tend to frequent the store later in the evenings and even then — I can almost guarantee a reasonable acknowledgement of my presence. With respect to decency, this gets a little more challenging. I guess I am fortunate that I have never really experienced a problem shopping at this establishment. I trade games in somewhat infrequently, and when I do — there have been no major impediments to the transaction. Further, I have come to appreciate that the employees working in the store have come to recognize my interests, likes, and dislikes. They know I will not want some kinds of games coming into my household and I can pretty reliably expect to get a sufficient pause when I present an option for purchase that may be inconsistent with my prior shopping habits. I don’t shop at Gamestop every weekend so the fact that people there have come to recognize me and my shopping habits(thank you CRM) is both welcome and surprising. In cases where I could not secure my preferred choice, I was always welcomed with a studious and prompt attempt to resolve my dilemma satisfactorily or offered a heart-felt apology. There are also times when one is lucky enough to garner a cleverly thought through set of alternate approaches — some, which worked out rather well. The final element I consider in good service is low impact. I want to have a shopping experience that is informed to minimize the unpleasantness of whatever business processes or internal up-sell campaigns may apply. I don’t mind a gentle attempt at an up-sell, and I WOULD come to resent an aggressive pitch or any look of dejection when I invariably decline. This is not to say that I object to probing questions with an intent to better serve my interests. On the contrary, what I have come to enjoy most is the passion that employees at this store have for games and helping patrons find selections that will bring them satisfaction. While I greatly miss the old shop(and more specifically, the people) that used to be located in the White Flint Plaza Shopping Center, the store at Federal Plaza is becoming a welcome place to shop. Game well, my friends.

What happens when you combine Comic-Con, a Saturday, and 4:20 pm? A really poor experience at GameStop. That is what. I went the weekend Comic-Con was going on and seriously, no one was at Gamestop except for one worker. And the moment the clock hit 4:20pm, he went to the backroom and didn’t come out the entire 15 minutes I was there. I could have walked out of there with so many«free» games. The store itself is nice. They have tons of used games… I guess the recession must be hitting the gamers just as hard. There is a $ 9.99 and under section that you can spend a good time browsing for games. Their used games are from all sorts of consoles: Wii, Xbox360, PS3, etc. Actually, there were a lot of discount bins($ 20 and under, 50% off some used games). Oddly enough, they have a family section where they display family friendly games. I was curious to see what they had and half of the section was filled with the game«Divas on Ice». Sounds like a nice family evening… I’ll remember to rent that game when my sport-loving, machismo-having brothers are in town.
