Found myself in Rockford one Sunday afternoon and rather than dine at one of the many fast food franchises available, I decided to give a local Chinese restaurant a try. It was not the hole in the wall I’m used to in the city. Lung Fung 2 had a pleasant interior with plenty of seating and friendly staff. Even more to my surprise, while talking to the owner — who I’m told is almost always present, I discovered that his family owned the famous Pekin House on Devon Avenue where my parents used to take us kids decades earlier. It was a cold day in Rockford, so we both loved the warming Egg Drop Soup. My wife and I found our entrees very tasty with good portions. I had the Cashew Chicken and she had the Vegetable Kow Stir Fry. We even took some left-overs home for our daughter, though I believe we snacked on it later that night and she never got to taste it. Personally, I thought the tea was a little weak, but then I’m used to drinking black tea at home which is considerably stronger. I hear they now have Bubble Tea, so I’m hoping to find myself back in Rockford in the summer to try that out. PS. The owner told me I could order the egg rolls online and have them shipped frozen in the mail. I might try that for my next party.

Disgusting. Waste of money. Meat is textureless and inedible. Garbage garbage garbage.

I am sad to say we decided not to order. It was bad enough experience just to try to order. The website offers 15% for the first order but did not provide the coupon code. I called the store for the coupon code, a young woman answered the phone and told me they do not honor that offer anymore. I stated that the website is displaying the offer. She said that they have been trying to get that taken off for a long time. Which to me is weird, it shouldn’t take«a long time» to take something off of a website. I then asked if they were just not going to honor it then? She said«I guess so.» I informed her that I would order from the other Lung Fung then. She told me to do that. Clearly they don’t care to gain any new business. What a shame.

I love this place. I ALWAYS get chicken chow mein with the fried noodles. However, one time they added a little too much thickening agent and it tasted like salty corn syrup. I called and the owner corrected the problem though.

I usually go to the old lung fung, but I was in the neighborhood, so I thought why not try this place out. The place is cozy and very clean. The staff is really nice and I loved everything I ordered. There aren’t many places that make good bubble tea, but my personal favorite is the mango bubble tea with tapioca from here!

I really enjoy the food and customer service here! Every time I eat here, I order something different whether it’s from the Orange chicken to the beef egg foo young, I always come back wanting more !

Service and food were alright. Okay, I lied the food was a little less than alright. The food honestly was bland, overdosed with soy sauce and if not that then it was very salty. Almost everything used a brown sauce. But it was edible. The tea wasn’t good at all. I would not come back to this place again unless I had to. If you like completely Americanized food this is the place.

All I have to say is this: if you want Asian men or women, giving you a theatrical version of cooking, with flames and sizzling meat and vegetables, and the food tasting worse than what you can do, then paying a ridiculous amount for an «experience», this is NOT the place!!! However, if you want mouth watering Asian cuisine, that can match their genius with the finest chefs in Hong Kong or in Asia, with a comfortable price, that will leave you with money for gas, then Lung Fung 2 on Perryvile is the place to go!

This place deserves a better rating. Yes it is typical Chinese fast food, but it was loads more legit then panda garbage chain restaurant. Our food was fresh, hot and delivered in less than 40 minutes on both occasions that I ordered. The Delivery guy and ladies that took the order were super nice and polite.

I really enjoyed their delivery service and their food was great! Not NYC Chinese food but definitely better than Tucson Chinese! I would definitely get it again. Next time I visit my father-in-law, I’ll have to actually go to the restaurant to see what its like inside but now I have a Chinese restaurant to go to!

Cookie-cutter, nothing special Chinese food. I enjoy Panda Express more than this place. This location is sub-par to the similarly named Lung Fung in downtown Rockford. I won’t ever be interested in eating here again.

My wife and I came here with a group of 11. For the most part the food was typical of any Chinese restaurant. Two members ordered the Lung Fung Chicken. One liked it and the other said it was dry and over cooked and looked so. Under the«Chef’s Recommendation» I found Salt & Pepper Smelt and thought I’d give it a try. Not available so I’ll try Salt & Pepper Squid. Not available. How about the Salt & Pepper Fish Filet. What a disappointment for $ 8.95. It was a very small portion of a tilapia filet cut in ½ pieces and stir fried with a handful of white onions and six red pepper pods. No pepper flavor at all. It included a bowl of white rice to share. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. Nothing special — just another Chinese restaurant.

So I hate your run of the mill, mall Chinese food — like Panda Express or some other random place that has a random name you probably can’t remember with a woman out front shoving a piece of grisly meat on a toothpick in your face — bleah, I’ll pass. Lung Fung 2 is a few steps up from that. Granted, it’s not JMK but if you’re looking to spend $ 6 – 9 on some good food, this is your place. The atmosphere is clean, quiet and generally isn’t too full of people. The staff is friendly and learn your face after a few visits. The menu has lots of options so everyone can usually find something they enjoy. In short, it’s a nice place that’s worth checking out.

Probably the best Chinese food locally. Great food variety at an affordable price range. The service is really good and the hostess and servers seem very friendly. I’d definitely recommend this place if trying to grab a bite while on the run or just trying to catch a good complete meal. I believe there is no MSG on the food they prepare as well which is something I can appreciate.

I’ve been going to Lung Fung in Belvidere for around 10 years, and it’s been my favorite restaurant for a long time. So when I heard they were making a Lung Fung 2, I knew I had to try it out. What’s interesting about Lung Fung 2 is that the menu and taste are very similar to Lung Fung 1, but Lung Fung 2 actually had more options on the menu. This included tofu and orange chicken and more. Now let me just say this: If you like Panda Express’s orange chicken, you’ll love this. The sauce has a taste of orange zest, there’s more vegetables with the chicken, and it’s a special. The awesome thing about Lung Fung 1&2’s specials are that they come with fried rice, crab ragoon or egg rolls, and egg drop(if you eat in the restaraunt). So let me tell you: The crab ragoon is the bomb diggity. The egg drop soup is yummy yummy yummy. And the specials are so cheap! Especially at lunch! So bottom line: If you want good, tasty, bang-for-your-buck, Chinese food, come here.

Since we have lived out in Rockford, this is the best Chinese food we have eaten out here. You have definitely eaten better Chinese before in your life, but if you are craving it and in the area this will get the job done.

I’m surprised by the 2 star rating on Unilocal. This is the best chinese good I’ve had here in rockford so far. I had the chicken chow fun and Singapore noodles. Both were really good. Just as good as the dishes I’ve had in «real» Chinese places. The chow fun had the wok hei that makes the noodles distinctive. I heard a woman in the restaurant complaining that the sweet and sour chicken wasn’t good and it was for Americanized palates and she wouldn’t be back. Well, why would you eat that if you were hoping for authentic chinese? Very odd. And rude, too. I recommend people leave their comfort zone and try some dishes that aren’t traditional Americanized stuff. You might like it! We will be back to try other dishes.

Very bland and very poor quality of ingredients. Beef was chewy and crab rangoon was basically all cream cheese and no crab. I can only assume other dishes are just as bad!
