I took two elderly ladies to this restaurant for lunch today as I had heard such great things about the place. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The place is clean and nicely arranged and decorated but we had three different sandwiches. Mine was a Ruben and it was overly cooked to the point of being nearly burned and so dry I could scarcely eat it. The bread was dry, the cheese scarce and the rest of the inside of the sandwich just not pleasant. The poppy seed house dressing on the salad was overly sweet and just not something I would ever ask for. Potatoes were included and they were not crispy at all for any of us although all three of us requested that they be crisped. The other diners were equally disappointed with their sandwiches. Maybe the breakfast is better? I won’t find out as I will not be back. Sad!

Love that they leave you a pitcher of water and a carafe of coffee at your table so you don’t have to wait for refills. The healthy chicken sausage scrambler was tasty and filling, better with some salsa and spicy Cholula though! The staff was very polite and nice!

Wow! Fantastic. Tried them out for breakfast on a Sunday because they have a dedicated gluten free menu. Had a brief wait(given a pager but waited only a couple minutes). Our food came out CRAZYFAST and piping hot. My food was served on red plates dedicated to GF food. I had a frittata, coffee, and s GF cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll is a generous muffin-size roll, served warm and gooey. Yum! All ingredients tasted fresh and NOT greasy. Husband had skillet. Service was on-point. They leave a pitcher of water and a carafe of coffee at your table but the server checked back and couple times and offered extra napkins. At the end of our meal, while dropping off check he offered a To-Go coffee to each of us! Amazing, fresh, fast, tasty food and lots of GF choices. Will be back!

I was really excited to go here as I’ve heard a lot of good things from people who’ve been here. Unfortunately I have to say I was disappointed. The décor makes it appear as a quaint, one of a kind restaurant so I was expecting their food to be made fresh to order. I got a simple breakfast, scrambled eggs, English muffin and potatoes and it was not fresh at all. Most of the food was lukewarm and not special at all. The scrambled eggs were average eggs I could have made at home. The English muffin was hard, cold and dripping with unnecessary butter. Fortunately the potatoes had some flavor however they were topped with a load of unnecessary green onions. To top it all off, the prices were over priced. I don’t plan on coming back.

I’ve only been a few times, but each experience was awesome. The wait staff are always bright-eyed and bushy tailed, and the food is amazing. They never fail to offer me a to-go cup with lid and a fresh refill on my coffee before I get up to pay the check! Who does that?! Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots. Awesome corned beef.

Came here at 6:40AM and they were already ready to go. Starting off on a great foot! They serve Intelligentsia coffee, and have a rotating flavor of the day. When I told the waiter I was gluten-sensitive, he gave me a menu specific for gluten-free! That is an amazing accommodation. I ordered the veggie power skillet minus eggs, and subbed a bowl of fresh fruit instead of a muffin. The skillet was delicious. Zucchini, avocado, black beans, sweet potato… this is the only way I’ll eat veggies in the morning. It was so filling, I could only finish half of it if I didn’t want to go into a food coma! The price ranges are a moderate, with most dishes ranging from $ 9 onwards. The food tastes and looks pretty fresh too!

I can’t believe all these positive reviews. The food was ok at best, small portions and kind of bland. My son and I HAD skillits. Both with eggs over medium. My eggs were overdone, while his were undercooked and runny. This is a breakfast place ! Waitress screwed up 2 orders and forgot the free pancake we were supposed to get from the website. The winter in Italy french toast was nothing like the pictures on the menue and Web site. Out of the six of us the only person satisfied with their meal got oatmeal NEVER going back! She also Insulted another member of our party.

Don’t know where to start. This place tries to make breakfast Foo fooey acting like they are master chefs or something brining out the smallest portion I ever saw. Potatoes were like 7 or 8 little dice squares that were over salted. Asked for crispy bacon could have been confused with trident gum. Two tiny little eggs and they put a little green non-edible plant on the plate just as space filler since there was hardly anything on the plate to begin with. Place was too quiet like a coffee shop or bookstore. No waitresses, all guys that talked like a girl. They must only hire you if your query here. Shouldn’t have to feel like you need to wear a tux to go for breakfast. Prices were high for very little poorly cooked food . Nuff said

What a discovery. If you are a fan of French Toast look no further. The Winter in Italy French Toast has warmed Italian cheese between slices of French Toast infused with Grilled fuji apple slices, Raisin and walnuts drizzled in carmel sauce. Outstanding. The service today and the last time I was here is very professional. The wait staff can actually carry on a full conversation. The décor is warm and cozy. This could be better than a breakfast restaurant actually located in Door County.

This is my second visit, and this time I brought my three young children, including one who is gluten free. They loved it! Even my 12yo son who thinks he’s too big for a kid’s menu was full with the meal he chose on the 12-and-under menu. We will definitely come again and look for this in the other locations as we travel!

I’ve eaten here numerous times during my lunch break from work and it is alright alright alright. Always fast, friendly service and the food is darn tasty. Always amazed at how fast the food comes out. Definitely try the Door County chicken salad sandwich with potato pancakes. One of my favorites. The egg salad is also fantastic. Never had a bad meal here.

Interior quite nice. Last visit very busy, and very loud, but service was excellent and efficient. Really enjoyed the food, but their coffee was exceptional and the fresh squeezed orange juice was great. This is definitely not the usual greasy spoon breakfast joint.

I thought this place was just okay. I had a salad and wasn’t really wow’d by it. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing here and should give it another try next time I’m in town.

Absolutely amazing! My family and I stopped by on our way home to Indianapolis. I choose this place because of the amazing reviews and everyone was correct. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. The waitress went out of her way too make our 3yr old feel special. She gave him stickers and made sure his pancake was shaped like Mickey mouse. I had the lemon poppy seed pancakes with bacon and eggs. It was just devine. My husband had the fried tomatoes skillet, it was so yummy that he ate it so fast that I couldn’t take a picture. Wish we had a place like this in Indianapolis.

Wow! Extremely fast service, great coffee — pancakes are a must. My husband had the skillet and I had the special, a Spanish-style omelet. Everything was fantastic except the English muffin, which was hard as a rock. When we go again, I’ll probably ask for toast instead of the English muffin. If I could give it 4.7 stars, I would. Nice country décor, clean and extremely good service — our server was Taylor; she was one of the best servers we’ve had in a while in any restaurant. We will be back!

This was my first time visiting this place and it won’t be the last. Their service was pretty fast and excellent. I had a pretty good experience there and so did my wife. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

A visit with my grandma always ends with breakfast at Egg Harbor. Today was no different. I was able to introduce my friend Tara to the tastiness they serve up. Grandma had her usual crepes, Tara enjoyed the reliable omelette and I went crazy and tried the quinoa breakfast bowl. I was very pleased with my choice. The warm almond milk was perfect for the blend of chia, sunflower seeds and quinoa mix. The plain greek yogurt and honey on the side were quite yummy and I just stirred everything up together. We started the meal by sharing a cinnamon roll. It was warm and had a nice flavor but was a bit dry on the inside. Our server Dominic was fantastic as were the other employees with whom we interacted.

My daughter and I had a getaway weekend planned for Chicago in February, and I was in charge of picking places to eat. We wanted to stop somewhere halfway on the drive from Madison to have brunch, and based on positive Unilocal reviews and the impressive amount of gluten free and fruit and veggie filled offerings on the menu, I chose Egg Harbor Café. So, before I go on… how do you feel about chickens? Every inch of this place is inundated with chickens. Chicken paintings. Chicken statues. Wrought iron chickens. Bathroom counter chickens. Chickens everywhere you look. It’s a bit egg-cessive, really, but very charming nonetheless. The place was hopping on a Saturday morning, and it was a very nice, cheery place to be. Nothing to get your feathers ruffled over. The enticing offering of fresh squeezed orange juice and other juice blends was a huge deciding factor in selecting this restaurant, as was the bottomless cup of Intelligensia coffee. Our server, a high school aged young man I’m guessing, did an absolutely egg-cellent job. We were very well taken care of, and our special requests were brought instantly.(More butter, please?) No problem. He brought eggs-tra napkins without even being asked. The menu was eggs-tensive, and it took us a long time to decide what to order… and we ended up ordering an entrée each and splitting another one, because it all sounded so good! My daughter got gluten free Boston cream pancakes. She was eggs-tremely pleased with them. I had the Swedish pancakes and the half order of Barrington eggs benedict, and it was fine. Fairly bland. Food wise, everything was just… fine. Nothing life-changingly awesome, but nothing bad, either. I definitely plan to come back on future drives into Chicago, and check out more of their menu. — — — Just one eggs-tra thing about our visit… the wooden booth seat had an unseen jagged little piece of wood sticking out that jabbed me in my calf right through my jeans as I slid out of the booth. Nothing dramatic, just a scratch/poke that barely bled. I mentioned it to the manager, Jim, just so they could make sure to take a look at it before someone else got stuck by it. His reaction was so impressive and professional and caring. He immediately closed down that booth, he comped our *entire* brunch tab, *and* he asked me to buy a new pair of jeans and send him the receipt and he would reimburse me for them. Quite amazing, and completely un-eggs-peck-ted, but appreciated. I didn’t bother getting the jeans reimbursed because they were fine, but what a class act to respond in such a way. Much respect!
