Sonny’s BBQ

Good all around. Service is slow and not exceptionally attentive, it leaves a little something to be desired but the BBQ itself is always fresh and delicious. I would forgo the dining out part and just get takeout here.

We come here all the time. Always get the salad bar with the meal. The wait staff is always very nice and accommodating. One thing I noticed they do differently is the plates now come with only one slice of garlic bread, not two. You can always ask for more though.

I’ve loved Sonny’s for as long as I can remember. I worked there through High School and I loved the people, the owner, the food. I’ve been married had children and now my baby is in college and I still get excited going there. My mouth is watering right now… I’ll be seeing you guys tomorrow. ;)
Love the chopped pork dinner plate and Salad bar… oh and the chargrilled chicken… or how about the chicken and ribs plate… mmmmmm, just too much goodness to choose from.

Sonny’s was very good. We came here @11am on Sunday. IHOP line was around the building and Sonny’s was just opening.
The waitress was great. Very attentive and engaging. Food was very good. Our group had a bunch of different things. Beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked wings, and the Pit master burger. The beans and Mac n chz were greats sides!!!

The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because we saw one waitress in there actually doing her job. Unfortunately, it was not ours. My husband waited 45 minutes for coffee and we hardly ever saw our waitress. When she finally showed back up with our food, my husband had to ask yet again for coffee and she said, «oh I forgot. I know it’s sitting back there…» When she brought it back, she told us she wouldn’t charge us for it because she knew it took too long. Good thing she didn’t because had she charged us for that, the manager would have been hearing it from me. As I said before we saw this one waitress busting her ass to get her tables taken care of and responded to everyone as sir or ma’am while ours never acknowledged us in any way other than to pop up twice.
When I got to the register to pay, then our waitress wanted to start talking about my fingernails and tried to start a conversation with me. I just demanded to know how much our check was, paid it and left a $.05 tip. Meanwhile the good waitress is walking around with a tip from us for doing absolutely nothing for us but for actually doing her damn job. Take a note from her, ladies!

This was good. I wasn’t blown away, but it wasn’t bad either. The best part of my meal was the cornbread. And our waitress was wonderful!
When looking for BBQ here in the south, I’ll probably look for a small family restaurant next time, but this worked in a pinch.

Best damn BBQ in the world, hands down. I have tried many chains and holes in the wall thorughout the US and Sonny’s offers the best pork in my opinion.

The food and service were alright. All the barbeque sauces were sweet, ironically the sweet sauce was the least sweet. I just had a pulled pork sandwich and fries. My wife fried a specialty sandwich that had pork and sausage. They were both pretty good. I like City Barbeque better.

I would not recommend this place. I had the all you can eat ribs. They were dry and not good. The prices are reasonable but the food is not good. My friend had the brisket and said he did not like it either.

OMG I love their BBQ chicken anf if God makes french fries himself, then Sonny’s BBQ is where He serves them! Yes, I think they have gotten quite expesive and I only go there now with coupons in hand or if they have good specials, but the food and service is as good, if not better than any restaurant you could visit! Oh yeah I forgot the sweet tea!!! WHAT!!! That stuff is the proverbial «nectar of the gods»!!! No wonder it costs 2.50 a glass!!! I kill ‘em on the refills though! HA! They do have an affordable lunch specials and a «Big Meal Deal» that includes a drink! Sonny’s I love ya, just be careful with those prices!!!
P. S.- PLEASE give us an all you can eat french fries. I’d eat there everyday!!!

Sonnys food is garbage! Anyone who recommends this place should be shot

The food is exactly what you’d expect from a BBQ joint. The wet ribs and pulled pork are my favorites when I go there. The salad bar is a nice touch… and has an array of things to mix in. I’ve never been disappointed by the food here. The waitresses will keep your drinks full and make sure you are satisfied with what you ordered.
Reasonable in price and little to no wait to be served.
You won’t walk away saying they were the best ribs you ever ate… but you won’t be complaining either. A good solid BBQ joint.

Good Ribs. Middle of the road in every sense. I was lured in by the promise of BBQ during the drive from Charlotte to Columbia. I’m sure there are better BBQ places around, but if you don’t know where they are this is not bad.
