Absolutely terrible. Security has no common sense – two of my friends‘ over-21 birthdays have had at least one person in my friend group turned away. I advise security be trained with LOGIC. Until then, I can’t wait for this place to go out of business. Goodbye.

DONOTGOHERE. I am 22 years old and they would not let me in because of an out of state ID. Their staff is completely uneducated on ID policies and will not let you in for the stupidest reasons. It is a complete waste of time. I would recommend ANYWHERE else on Monroe, such as O’Callahans or Enrights.

This was the worst bar tending experience I’ve ever witnessed. Bartender called me a bitch for not tipping her more than 50%. Management did nothing. Horrible experience.

I will beg my friends not to have to walk into this place if they mention stopping here. Definitely the worst customer service you will find at a bar. It takes light years to get a drink and the bartenders are rude. The bouncers could care less about the safety of the customers seeing as bums stand right outside the door begging for money and cigarettes, making the paying customers feel unsafe. I have known a few different people who have been jumped right outside the bar and robbed of all of their belongings and no action was taken. As a female, I would recommend not stepping foot here if you care about your safety. It is all hammered 21 year old college kids running around sloppy drunk. The drink prices are outrageous for being a Monroe Ave bar which is also a big turn off. The last time I was there I was charged $ 28 dollars for two shots of fireball and two long islands. Unreal. If you want to be crammed in a corner and watch drunk slobs make fools of themselves while you eat some free peanuts everyone in the world has also touched, by all means, this is your spot.

I will NEVER go to this bar again. They allow bums to stand in front of the main entrance and harrass paying customers for money and cigarettes. Two of these bums attacked a customer last night for refusing to give them cigarettes right in front of me and Oxford’s useless sloth of a bouncer made the PAYING customer who was attacked unprovoked leave! When I politely tried to explain to the bouncer what I had just witnessed, he immediately screamed at me, «YOUWANNAGETINMYFACENOW!» That’s a pretty disgusting way to treat two paying customers. Never again. If you want good food and drinks in the Monroe area, you are much better off going to Scotch House. They treat their patrons like gold, have a roped off section in the front so you aren’t harassed by vagrants if you are outside, and phenomenal bouncers that actually do their job. I was approached by someone outside a few weeks ago there, and before I even had time to respond, the bouncer was outside making sure I felt safe and unaccosted. If I could give Oxford’s negative stars at this point, I would.

I have never been a huge fan of this place — the drinks are — meh, the prices are meh, the crowd is usually as bro-centric as you can get. They have cheap pitcher night, but that is obviously going to bring in a crowd that only wants cheap pitchers. It is so hard to get to the bar if it is at all full and good luck getting service. The TVs are tiny(with the exception of 1) so good luck watching a game there. I only drop in here on bar crawl nights normally.

Average bar with average drinks, poor tending service and a barrage of drunk early 20’s crowd. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the Long Islands. The female bartender made one of the best tasting LITs I’ve ever had. Also — they give free peanuts.

The bar itself is ok. It has a pool table, dart boards, some tvs(although relatively small), free peanuts(bonus!), and some high chairs. The clientele is mostly young 20s which is out of my age bracket so I don’t really go here much. That said, the food is great here and not many people know they even serve food. They make it next door at Lola and then send it over. The garlic Parmesan fries are absolutely amazing as are the chicken fingers. Do yourself a favor and get food here next time you are here.

This spot went downhill quickly! Spotty service, pushy people, not my choice on a night out. Kids these days are crazy!

I can’t believe this place has such a high overall rating. I get dragged here occasionally on the weekends, and it’s always awful. If you didn’t play football or cheerlead in high school, expect shitty service, because this place is all about cliques. There was one bartender in particular that had a stupid goatee and a backwards hat(that was probably pushing 40) that treated my friends and I like shit. I don’t know if the workers hate that the crowd gets so big on the weekends, but they can rest assured it’ll be one person smaller from now on.

I’ve got to concur with my Unilocal colleague Brian T on this one. This place turns from pleasant bar to «da club» scene on the weekends. Being able to chat with friends/the bartender turns into elbowing your way through a crowd of college kids and waiting fifteen minutes for a bevie. If you come before 10pm, they’ve got some food goin’ on. Super simple– burgers, wings, fries. But it does the trick. They do have a lot of specials which I’m into. I love drinking AND saving money. Drink specials are my jam.

JD Oxfords has been one of the few places on Monroe Ave in Rochester that hasn’t changed names or gone under in the past 10 – 15 years. Mainly because of they have a great selection of beers, fun and friendly atmosphere plus a convenient location. If you’re in the area be sure to stop in and grab a pint

I’ve been here several times over the past few years with varying degrees of satisfaction. During the week, Oxfords is a chill place to go and grab a pint after a rough day or catching up with friends. Gotta love the hidden shelled peanuts on a side wall that make your beer go down at a slightly faster pace. Beers selection is your main domestics, and a small mix of craft beers. Then comes the weekend big bar days of Thursday/Friday/Saturday. It becomes a mess of drunk youth in their 20s. I would basically call it a college bar in the city. Sausage fest city with their attention on the 4 girls that decided East & A was too far, and would just dance at Oxfords instead. It’s usually packed around 11pm and then empties out when people realize that they are at Oxfords, and move onto another Monroe Ave establishment. Have to enjoy that they consistently open at 3pm daily and never close… just in case the family is driving you crazy and you need a beer on xmas day!
