Hunan Garden

I am literally right down the road from this place. but rarely do i order from it because the food just isnt that good… Until 2 days ago. WOW did they get a new chef? Their hot n spicy beef was SO GOOD. Ive ordered it in the past and it was pretty gross… But this time, wow… It taste like mom made it… If she was asian… and cooked.
I also ordered the roast pork lo-​mein …AS GOOD AS IT GETS! Their Eggrolls are still the best ive had in rochester since 2002. Their fried rice is very good too.

My husband had the Bourbon Chicken and said the chicken was tough and didn’t taste like any Bourbon Chicken he has ever had (not in a good way). The shrimp Toast was good as were the Fried Wontons.
I had the Spicy Shrimp — it wasn’t Spicy. It was too tangy for my taste as was the Tom Yum with shrimp which is funny because there wasn’t a single shrimp. It was very red and not enough lemongrass.

Hunan Garden was an average experience. Just about what you would expect from your average Chinese Restaurant. I was surprised there was also a Thai Menu. My order consisted of Ma Po Tofu and Fried Squid; pleasing but not the best. All-​in-​all the order was prepared within 15 mins, earning Hunan 3.7÷5!

best Chinese in area. It’s my favorite, and the prices are great too! Great customer service and always wonderful. Love their lo mein and crab ragoons as well as their coconut chicken and orange chicken yum :)

Worst customer service EVER!!! After being excited to order from here and new to the area we ordered delivery. My order had vegtables in I didn’t order (I requested only carrots and water chestnuts as I’m a allergic to a few other veggies) and they forgot the drinks. When I called to inform them not only was the man rude but argued with me that he only put a «few other veggies in» and said nothing about the missing drinks, I was very polite I didn’t call with a specific request but to notify them of the situation. He then went on to tell me they weren’t coming back, I could come pick up a refund and not order or come in again!!! I was utterly shocked I even repeated back what he said thinking I must of heard him wrong, I asked for the manager he said I’m the owner I told him he had the worst customer service I’d ever received and hung up. Needless to say we threw the food in the garbage and will never go to this place again they can keep their $ too. Can’t even believe it.

My parents love this place often commenting on how it’s one of the best Chinese takeout places that they hever had. I thought nothing of it at first as I am not a huge fan of Chinese food but I decided to see how «extravagant» this establishment was.
It’s in a strip-​mall like white building next to a misfortuned Pontillo’s but ta the moment, they are fixing the parking lot so parking may be a slight issue but this is only temporary. It has a decent interior, well kept and clean and smells of «takeout» as soon as you walk in the door. I have never experienced the delivery as I simply drove to the business but everytime i arrive, it’s ready for me instantly… expect for a few times where I had to wait a minute or two but not a big deal.
Now it’s time for the exciting part, the food itself! I had ordered stuffed crab with a side of miso soup for dipping. I’m not a fan of crab, but it tasted pretty damn good, even better with the soup. In traditional Chinese fashion, they package fortune cookies with the meal which is the first thing I go for when I arrive home… sometimes forgetting to take out the fortune in them.
Service is friendly and quick and it has earned a spot in my book as «My Favorite Chinese Takeout Place» in the entire world, so far… but I am up to the challenge for another restaruant to challenge what Hunan Garden offers.

We have lived in the area for 8 yrs. none of the other Chinese food places in the area compare. The gen tsos is crispy. The food has never been greasy. Delivery is quick. They have that tofu crap your mother in law likes :) I’ve ordered from them often when we’ve had company and never had a complaint.
