This was the first Dairy Queen in the state of Minnesota, and one of the first in the world. It’s still owned and operated by the same family, who is now on their 4th generation to work at the DQ. It’s an old school walk up establishment, a throwback to pre-drive thru times. Prices here are a bit lower than some others in the area, plus they put a heaping scoop of topping on your blizzard. Stop by and check this gem out. It’s a popular summer hang out spot, but it’s totally worth the wait.

The Smores blizzard was very good. The service wasn’t.

This is *the* spot to grab ice cream, people watch, and laugh at the people cruising Broadway in their loud, showy cars. This Dairy Queen is really unique — it’s been in the same location for 65 years, and is really kitschy/cute. It’s just a summertime ice cream shack, and they serve you soft serve through the window. The place is filled with young, earnest high schoolers who happily make your dip cone. This DQ is quintessentially Rochester, and if you’re here in the summer, I recommend stopping by for a feel of what life in town is really all about.
