I’ve visited this shop a few times over the last 7 days I’ve been in Rochester. My parents are here regularly for health care needs, and they always stop in for gelato. They’ve become acquainted with Mark Green. I’m not sure if he is the owner or manager or both, but he’s wonderful and it’s great that he remembers his customers. The gelato and chocolates are great, and they have options for fancy boxed items or just by the pound. I brought my mom one of the new flavors for Valentine’s Day to her hospital room. She loved it and it was the only thing she wanted to eat, so I had to make another trip for more. I’m so glad they brightened her day!

Following a dinner nearby, we were attracted by what appeared to be gelato. While you see that name in the US quite often, it is normally nothing like the real stuff found in Italy. But, this was close, very close. Only had room for a small sample, but it was excellent. We were also attracted to the extensive display of european style chocolate in the shop. We purchased a sample for a friend. Really an unusual and welcome place for anyone with a yearning for Europe. Only issue is according to the owner, they are only as far southern Ohio.

The gelato is delicious. Circulating flavors year round. Affordable and they give a nice serving. The chocolate inside the shop is your usual flavors. Can’t get mad at that, its still chocolate.

As far as chocolate and gelato goes, chocolaterie stam knows what they’re doing. However, new to their selection are cupcakes, which are served frozen as they are pre-made at an undisclosed time — it could have been the morning of or many mornings ago. Either way, the taste of these cupcakes are comparable to grocery store foods — too much sugar in the frosting and the actual cupcake itself has very little taste. It was also very expensive: $ 3.50 for one. I would would not recommend the cupcakes. Stick to main sellers.

Stopped by here and saw the gelato. And it was as good as it looked! They have very creative flavors. I got the Gingerbread and Pumpkin Spice(which was better than the Pumpkin Pie). The prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Didn’t get a chance to sample the other stuff because with gelato this good, I could eat that all day.

Cute shop. Good chocolate with mild flavors. Negatives are that they are pretty spendy and the filling flavors are not as expected. Bought liquor filled and could hardly taste it. But, the chocolate covered cherries were pretty potent. Probably won’t be back.

I loved finding this Des Moines-based favorite here in Rochester. I can get my gelato need satisfied without ever braving the weather. Try a small two flavor combo like chocolate and berry.

After a poor experience trying to find a parking space to go to this store, I finally got a chance to try their candy. I tried several different kinds and my opinion is the chocolate is average… nothing spectacular. The gelato looked good and I would like to try it soon.

Amazing gelato! I had the lemon and it was so rich and creamy if I didn’t know better I would say it was not a sorbet. For the location, I would say the cost is average based on having it in other cities(Chicago, New York, Seattle) — remember folks, this ain’t the garbage they have at DQ. Friendly staff.

Not much is open after 6pm around here, but they were well open until 8:30pm on a Saturday night. They have mostly chocolates but also things like gummies, cupcakes, taffy, and other sweets. — Rum beans: they’re not kidding when they say there’s a ¼ oz of rum inside the dark chocolate shell(be careful when you bite into it). It had a weird coating of sugar on the inside, though — not sure if it’s just an effect of the liquor — Liqueur filled dark chocolates: also quite strong and generous on the filling — Toasted marzipan: I adore honey almost paste and prefer this to the fruit ones. Theirs is nutty and has the sweetness of honey but isn’t too sugary Prices are actually reasonable, and the people who work there are really nice. They also have a gelato stand out front that has lots of flavors.

Hot Stam! That’s good chocolate! Visiting a friend at the Mayo Clinic we decided to walk around a bit and check out some shops. She said that she had heard about this place and we needed to try it. Man, I am so glad we did! First of all the customer service is top notch. That is a big win for me. The girl behind the counter was super friendly and knew her stuff. Once you’re inside it is a feast for the eyes. However, you have to make it past the gelato stand. I decided on the Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Peanut Butter combination. Oh. My. Gah. So good. My friend tried the combination of Orange Cream and Root Beer Float. Amazing. Pretty sure there’s not a bad combination in the case. Speaking of case… head inside for the most delectable sight in Rochester. So many tiny treasures waiting to be devoured. Creamy Hazelnut was my absolute favorite. I’m a sucker for hazelnut so it was no contest. You need to go to Choclaterie Stam and you need to do it now!

So… I’ve been avoiding Chocolaterie Stam’s beautiful gelato for the past three years because I thought it looked too expensive. I caved the other day and I am so glad I did — no joke, this was some of the best gelato I’ve ever had in my life(and I’ve eaten gelato all throughout Italy). It is fantastic, and they have dairy-free sorbets you would never believe to be dairy free(i.e., they are absolutely delicious). Totally worth the money, they make the gelato right in the store at night. They also sell chocolate, but it is clearly upstaged by the fantastic gelato. If you need an adult dessert, don’t hesitate to check out Chocolaterie Stam!

This is in the Shops at University Square. It has the most amazing gelato I have every tasted. If you have not yet experienced gelato then now is the time! It is fabulous and you will not regret it! The flavors change daily. Sometimes the flavors are better than others. My personal favorites are the Raspberry-Chocolate and Chocolate-Amaretto. You can always make your own by getting half a fruity sorbet and half a regular chocolate. :-) There are often fun/wacky flavors too(Guinness and what not). They have a frequent shopper stamper so be sure to get one because I assure you, you will fill it up! This place is my saving grace here in Rochester. It is my little slice of heaven when I need to forget about being in such a closeted town. Absolutely love it!!! P. S. They have a ton of artisan chocolates inside. Cannot attest to their quality because I can never make it past the gelato. Mayo discount on box sets and if you order/pay inside you get a free chocolate. ;-)

After arriving at Mayo Clinic for my 2nd visit for 2010 on August 29th the hottest day of the year in IL and in MN with temps being over 100 and humidity very high nothing cools ME off like some ice cold Gelato(Italian Ice Cream)! There were so many choices I had a hard time making up my mind what flavor to choose. The guy at the counter could tell I was from out of town so he said, as many flavors as I want to try is fine with him! WOW, most place will let you try 1 or 2 but he said as many as I wanted too. Having battled for a while with Insulin Resistance I asked him which one had the least amount of sugar and he said it would be there Sorbetto’s. Peach is one of my favorite summer fruits so I chose the Peach Sorbetto and I was in «Love at Fist Bite» In addition to having the Gelato case in the front of the store as soon as you walk in, there are case after case of Chocolate as far as the eye can see, after all the name of the store is Chocolaterie Stam. This is not just any old standard chocolate this is Fine European Chocolate using the recipe directly from the Netherlands. This is a family business that started nearly 100 years ago. They have milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, filled chocolates, bonbons, truffles, chocolate bars, licorice, cookies & waffers as much more. As a person whose prior experience was limited to Ghiradelli, Cadbury, & Hershey’s this was AMAZING! When they say Chocolate makes you feel better, this surely did! I was back again the following week to buy a box to take home for my nieces, my sister and myself. There are none of these stores in Illinois. My sister is a Chocolate Snob and she & my youngest niece said this was the BEST they have ever had. Be sure to look at my amazing photos I took last year.

mmmmmm chocolate. More kinds of truffles than I could possibly have imagined and I can imagine a lot. Chocolaterie truffles were quite good. In some places, you buy a truffle or two and they taste old or have a chemical aftertaste. Not so here. From the first bit to the last, there’s nothing but creamy goodness in white, milk, or dark chocolate. Just be prepared: one truffle from this place will last you the entire day. Very rich and very creamy. Chocolaterie Stam also has some awesome gelato that they’ll let you sample before you buy. Not many places will give you a taste that’s more than a teaspoon or two, but not so here. The biggest problem you’ll have is deciding which flavor of gelato or truffle to get and when to stop coming by here every day for dessert. This is a guilty-pleasure stop.
