Food is not great, atmosphere.meh. I walked in, asked if they could accommodate ten, four of whom were children. The man at the counter made a face and then said, ‘I think we can do that.’ We should have left, our fault. We love local spots, veggie options, healthy choices, but their food just wasn’t all good. The crabcake was good as was the sauce but the bean-corn etc. mix was without flavor and the broccoli was too flavored(give me good old steamed broccoli, thanks.) The children’s menu grilled cheese was done on thick focaccia. None of our three who ordered it liked it and their tastes vary. Our waitress did a good job, not easy with a large party, but honestly, not one of the staff made us feel welcome. I don’t remember a single smile. In fact, quite the reverse. I was even made to feel bad because I was in the women’s restroom to long with a seven year old. I guess we tied it up too long.

I love Wildflour! Always good food and good service. I almost always get the crab cake and gormet salad with ranch dressing with the iced tea flavor of the day. Mmm. All of the ingredients taste fresh and delicious every time. The bread on the side is delicious too! The portion size of this entrée is just enough for me. The atmosphere is artsy and fun but also casual. You have the choice to sit at a booth or table. Definitely check this place out if you like delicious food!

Stopped here on my way to Pennsylvania. Everything was delicious. I Had the Smoked Turkey Rueban with Pasta Salad and Better than Sex cake. I will be back when I travel to Roanoke again.

Great quality. Quality food, quality recipes, quality staff. I left feeling nourished with my tastebuds more than satisfied. A great place for both the ‘health conscious’ and the ‘taste conscious’. Terrific(local) wine selection. Fantastic bakery(imported oven from Italy, every detail counts). Great service. Not much to say for or against the atmosphere. Will go back.

Very helpful staff. Delicious white chicken chili. The slightest amount of heat with an authentic chili flavor. Tasted homemade. I don’t remember the name of the meatloaf sandwich but it was delicious two slices of meatloaf on a herb type of bread, lettuce, tomato and banana peppers. Good flavor.

Nestled in downtown Roanoke amongst some unique houses, Wildflour can be a tricky place to find! As you walk in, you feel right at home in this specious and casual café. Wildflour has a nice menu that uses fresh, local ingredients. Since we came in around 3, we did not have access to the dinner menu, but the lunch menu had plenty of options and daily specials. My mother ordered the Summer Salad, which was a daily special: spinach topped with strawberries, pineapple, goat cheese, and toasted almonds. She also added chicken for protein, and all salads are served with Wildflour’s house baked bread. Although it was hard to decide, I went with the Doctor’s Mac & Cheese: delicious Mac & cheese«doctored» up with tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. It was amazing and had a great, smoky flavor! The dish is served with a nice side salad & your choice of dressing-all dressings are made in house and are fantastic! You cannot leave here without cake, and I stress this! We chose the«Better than Sex» cake(not too fond of the name) and the Carrot Cake. Cakes are easy to mess up: they are often too dry and too sweet, but that is not the case for Wildflour’s-these were possibly some of the best cakes I’ve ever had! Perfectly balanced in texture, sweetness, and flavor! Wildflour is a great little café that’s inexpensive & casual, yet provides amazing and fresh food & desserts!

We went to this place for lunch because we’re vegan and they had a few dishes that we could work with. We were seated right away and the service was prompt and courteous but not really warm and friendly. I had a hummus wrap(without feta) that was very good, but not anything special. I basically make the same thing at home including the homemade hummus and all. However, the table next to us had a cream puff that looked enormous and wonderful. I am grateful for the vegetarian items on the menu though.

Called them as I needed a couple custom cakes made for my wife’s 30th birthday. She’s a huge Legend of Zelda fan. Had no idea what to expect but was shocked when I picked the cakes up. Perfectly executed and made my wife cry when she saw Majora’s Mask sitting there staring at her in real life. Awesome!

**Update** When brought to the attention the owner, she was profusely and sincerely sorry for our experience. She apologized and explained why some of the problems occurred and that they would not occur normally. She is even refunding the cost of our meal, which is above and beyond what we were expecting. We look forward to giving them another try when they are operating under normal circumstances. Great management and customer service when they were made aware of the issues.**Update** Wildflour really dropped the ball. My fiancé and I came for a special Valentine’s brunch. Arrived at about 12:30(1.5 hours after opening) was sat immediately and eagerly looked over their special menu. When our waiter came to talk to us he told us that they were already out of several items: grits, home fries, and biscuits and gravy. He told us there was several pieces of the two quiche options and since that is what we wanted we hurriedly put in our order instead of taking our time pursuing the offerings and my fiancé ordered a special Valentine’s martini. The martini was the one redeeming quality of our whole visit; it came out without too much of a wait and was delicious and that’s about the last good thing I can say about our experience. After waiting about 20 minutes, our server returned and told me that they were sold out of the quiche I had ordered(keep in mind that during this time I watched a table of 4 place their orders and receive their food before I was informed they were sold out of mine). Honestly, if my fiancé hadn’t been so excited about the idea of his food I might have just decided to leave then because so much more stuff was sold out but he wanted to stay because he had previously had good experiences at this restaurant. So I picked something from the even fewer offerings than when we had arrived. We waited a significantly longer time and finally received our food. My boyfriend’s looked like a partial piece of quiche and my omelet was overly stuffed with pimento cheese(a little goes a long way) to I assume hide the fact of how little bacon was in it. To give our waiter some credit he seemed to sense our dissatisfaction with the whole experience and offered a complimentary slice of cake to try and save the day. The lemon chiffon cake we received was dry and the icing was hard and(hopefully only because it was hard and cold) was flavorless. The lemon curd on top was the only part of the cake that had flavor. Never once were we asked how the food was, how the experience was, nor how the service was. I would have to say the food was disappointing, the service was painfully slow(we didn’t get to leave until 2:20pm – almost two hours after we arrived) and the experience was probably one of the worst I’ve had in a long time, a terrible way to waste two hours of our Valentine’s Day.

I got a salad and one cup of coffee and the bill was $ 15. But the worst part is the waiter was surly and all of us felt like we were bothering him by being there. I did not leave a tip for this reason and HEFOLLOWEDMEOUTTOMYCAR to tell me I was robbing him of his livelihood. I will not go back.

Found this sweet spot via Unilocal.Had the Italian salad with fresh mozzarella — generous portion and very good! My daughter had the mushroom bisque and a turkey sandwich with great fresh bread. We had shortcake cookies for dessert. Highly recommended!

It was SONICE to find REALFOOD on the road. Wildflour is in a nice neighborhood, 7 minutes from I-81. Our GPS brought us straight there with no issues. Lovely spacious French-country-café feel. Server was friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate our daughter’s life-threatening food allergy with no issue… server was very familiar with ingredients and made safe suggestions, and understood the concept of cross contamination. The meals are healthy… soups, salads, sandwiches. Huge portions. It was all obviously fresh-made, nothing from a can or freezer. Extensive menu with lots of options. Breads all baked fresh here. Tomato cheese soup was really great. They have that every day, in addition to a couple daily special soups. Their salsa is to die for. I had extra salsa on the Bozeman salad as my dressing as recommended by server, and that was perfect… like a taco chip salad with delicious cooked red beans. Hubby had the Italian sandwich, packed full of meats, cheese, peppers, on fresh bread made there. Kid One had peanut butter sandwich which had a LOT of peanut butter on it(an inch?) and came with a nice simple kid-friendly fruit salad(apples & strawberries). Kid Two enjoyed the quesadilla. The kids were happy to choose iced factory-made cookies for dessert, but the adults bought baked-there goods. I can’t have chocolate, and usually find that at most places, the desserts are not worth ordering if you don’t order chocolate… I was very pleasantly surprised by the HEAVENLY butterscotch blondies. Crumbly and chewy and buttery at the same time. Really perfect… I am so happy right now. It was so good that we also bought a coconut cake on the way out for our New Year’s Day party at home. Hubby bought a chocolate something brownie that smells amazing. If you enjoy great food made fresh, definitely pull off in Roanoke and head here.

Great service and tastier food! The menus extensive from filet to wraps, veggie dishes, seafood, and a large selection of desserts. My personal favorite is the coconut cake. Entertainment tonight is incredible. Elizabeth is playing her guitar and singing like a Taylor Swift!

Fantastic restaurant! Especially if you’re vegetarian. My husband had the millet burger and I had the 4th Street quesidilla. Absolutely delicious! But nothing could prepare us for how amazing the cake would be. It’s called Better Than Sex for a reason!

Great menu full of interesting twists on old favorites– feeling of fresh on all of it. And of course it is a bakery so no one leaves hungry unless they choose to go do. The location is historic too. First timers should think about Evie’s red beads and rice if you can get all the other things out of your imagination.

OMG, if I still lived in Roanoke I would eat here a lot. While visiting my sister she recommended this cute little neighborhood gem. It is housed in a building that used to be the neighborhood little grocery store when I was a small child living in Old Southwest. Let me start by saying that we arrived about 30 minutes before closing, and they were so gracious and welcoming! Our server, Sarah, was charming and very accommodating, and made us feel right at home. We asked her to take our picture and she took many. As neither of us are very photogenic, we really appreciated this! She guided us through the wine list and menu like a pro. We had the fried green tomatoes on a previous visit for wine and a snack, and they were delicious, with just the right amount of crunch! On this visit I had the spinach ricotta pie and it was to die for, cheesy yet fluffy with a flaky homemade crust. My sister had the 4th Street Quesadilla, with spinach, artichokes, and cream cheese and it was yummy! They have great vegetarian selections and a very good, affordable wine list. For dessert we shared the Better than Sex Cake and some kind of yummy bar(I can’t remember) and they were both amazing, especially the cake. Honestly, I can’t wait to go see my sister again, because, hey, she is my sister and I love her, and I can’t wait to go back to the Wildflour Restaurant and try many more dishes!

I went here with my boyfriend for a quck bite to eat. It’s always busy from my understanding. It’s in a neighborhood. I thought I was lost, but then saw the restaurant. They have plenty of options to choose from. I didn’t care for my dessert, but the waitress was kind enough to bring me a sample of something else that I might like and it was delicious.

I get the impression that this place WAS amazing but that they’ve become complacent with continuing success. Yes, the idea of the Dragon’s Tooth sandwich was mouthwatering but in reality, the eggplant medallions just tasted like nondescript ‘fry.’ The toppings were good(roasted pepper and onions, etc.) but didn’t make up for the lack of substantive eggplant and overall blandness. At least the pasta salad was tangy and flavorful. My German chocolate cake was disappointing. It was on the dry side, lacked flavor, and the buttercream was bland. The coconut/nut mixture was good but overall, I was unimpressed given the rave reviews that preceded my visit. My friend loved her ‘Better than Sex’ cake and while it was rich and chocolatey and nicely decorated, I found it to be not much better than a boxed cake.

Thank you Unilocal for saving the day with this one! We were driving through VA and this was a charming place. it’s very cute outside and inside has a lot of artwork. I got a sandwich that had turkey and pesto inside it was just amazing. their pasta salad was pretty tasty as well. It was even better than the Dragons Tooth sandwich that they’re famous for. their service was good. We ended up getting a dessert which was a bar of fudge with some raspberry and it looked like it was a day old wrapped in Saran wrap.

Recommended to us by a local B&B owner, we found it to be perfect for what we wanted. First I should note we loved the name. The setting is open and very casual. The menu was extensive and varied with appetizers, sandwiches and wraps, assorted entrées and an entire page of veggie meals. Two of our party had the Dragon’s Tooth sandwich, one the Spinach Ricotta pie and the fourth good old Mac n’ Cheese. Two came with a small pasta salad and two with a nice garden salad. All of the food was delicious and quite filling. The desserts, all made on the premises, were numerous and delicious. While we were already stuffed we simply had to try the Italian Cream Cake, which was like a carrot cake with the carrots and the Raspberry-filled Chocolate Mousse Cake. OUTSTANDING! Good service always contributes to a meal and our server, Sarah, certainly helped make our dining experience a pleasure.
