we were hoping the location near us was the only one that has gone in the dumper… nope. First two things we order were out. Got our orders mixed up. In order to fix them they nuked our stew so bad we couldn’t eat it before we left because they were late and 300 degrees. The St Louis ribs were terribly fatty and full of those annoying little bones. Yeah, I get it, they can be like that but when you come for ribs and the baby backs are out you hold out hope for the backups. We used to love this chain but now knowing that multiple locations are awful we are DONE with Smokey Bones. We tried, they stink. Now that we have had some time to think… we realize we feel gross. We sooooo regret eating here. GROSS.

First let me say the staff are great and food quality is good. The problem is the consistent lack of available items, e.g. Fried pickles, French fries, tortilla chips, ranch dressing. What level of management genius does it take to maintain such levels or «perishable» ingredients?

Carry out, smoked wings. Count was short, discovered upon arrival at home. A phone call resolved the discrepancy– manager was very apologetic and offered options, reorder or gift certificate(mailed). BTW? Smoked wings are sensational. Large, glazed and seasoned. Yes. And another beer please…

Smokey Bones has the NFL Sunday Ticket, which is why we came. There are many more TVs in the bar area than I expected. Every game is on. This is a great alternative to Buffalo Wild Wings on gameday — more subdued crowd, easy to get a seat. Our service was great. The food isn’t fantastic, but I will be back next time the Panthers aren’t on local TV.

Terrible service, bartenders rush to place my food order. They never serve with a smile, the day I go back to this establishment will be when he## freezes over. Poor service, food is marginal, at best and bad attitudes.

I originally thought the business photos looked too pretty… BUT…when the food came… dang if it didn’t look just that good. One if the best burgers I’ve ever had. Service was great. Good lunch menu. Atmosphere much nicer than most Barbeque joints. Nice to eat off a real plate. Looks like they could seat large groups pretty easily. Well worth the money honey.

Well if you want a cold beer, burger, and dozens of big screen tv’s you’ll love Smpkey Bones. If youre going for good bbq… well not so much. First off you will notice the place lacks that wood fired smell of a typical bbq. Then one glance at the menu and you can tell this is a chain restaurant trying to pretend its a Memphis bbq joint. Its clearly a sports bar and if thats what you want you’ll be fine with it. But I went for bbq and was disappointed. First red flag was no corn bread, second flag no collards. Who serves cheap garlic bread with bbq!!! What the… I had the pulled pork and sausage with baked beans and mashed potatoes. The pork was very uninspired with a hint of smoke, a bit dry and served luke warm. The sausage was grilled before serving and if it was smoked I couldnt taste it at all. Worse was the quality of the sausage. A mid range quality with rubbery casing and fillers. I would change the name from Smokey Bones to Lazy Bones. They obviously do not put forth the effort of a real bbq joint. Sorry guys just being honest.

Decided to eat here while doing some training in Roanoke with a coworker. It was around 1:45 pm when we entered. We were greeted by a young hostess that asked if we were going to carry out. I told her no and greeted her with a smile as I asked her how she was doing. She did respond friendly after I greeted her. We were seated and our waitress greeted us with s friendly smile. I ordered the 1⁄3 rack of ribs, pulled pork, beans, and garden salad. My coworker ordered ribs, wings, and fire roasted corn. The ribs were served hot with a glazed sauce on them. They were tender and the meat pulled off the bone with ease but had the flavor of chili powder. Yes, chili powder! If I wanted the flavor of chili powder I would have ordered a chili dog! The pulled pork had a cooler taste to it. Kinda like it was pulled yesterday, shoved in a cooler, and warmed up today just for me. The beans were hot and good. My salad had several of brown tips and leafs telling me it to had sat in a cooler longer than it should have(see attached picture). It was not the freshest salad I have been ever served but It was mediocre. The dressing was awful. My coworker felt the same way about the ribs. His wings were bland until he added some less than sauce and he said the corn was good(kind of hard to screw up corn) Our waitress did a good job and I liked the fact I could pay with my credit card table side. I wish I had Unilocaled this place before dining here. I guess I should have realized when I saw no one was there, it wasn’t going to be good. So if your in the mood for good bar-b-q this is NOT the place. You can get better ribs and pulled pork in the freezer section of Your local super market.

Worst Smokey Bones experience EVER… Told there would be a 20 to 30 minute wait to be seated with 28 open tables in the dinning room, when pressured a little bit the hostess admitted the kitchen told her not to seat anyone because they couldn’t keep up. I couldn’t stand it… I had to turn around and leave… Before I really made an «**s of my self» as my wife would put it. I can understand a little slow service or even bad service… But this kind of service results in the loss of serious revenue. I have eaten at several Smokey Bones and actually really enjoy the food and service, however this location has a problem that is costing someone lots of $$$ in lost revenue.

I’ve been to many smokey bones, and this is one of the better ones. The service is pretty good, and the food has been consistently good. Everyone in our party tonight left satisfied with their dinner. Ribs, brisket, and chicken were all great.

Holy cow the food here was outstanding! Cool place and excellent service(our server was Cati — you can really tell she genuinely loves her job and had lots of great info/recommendations on what items were available) We are looking forward to coming back! :D

I’m not a big meat eater but went here with my girlfriend and an acquaintance who lives near by. I got hooked, they have great combos with nice and — if wanted — healthy and tasty sides. A nice and welcoming waiting staff(attentive but not hovering and very funny), food was great the portions are a little more normal than in many places and it certainly looks like the cooks even tried to make it look nice, too. If I would live closer by I would be here every week!

We stopped in to watch NFL football on September 29 for they have hung a huge sign advertising they have NFL Sunday Ticket. It was our second time there overall. We’ll be back because this is a place where all the games were on without the craziness of the patrons at Buffalo Wild Wings(we like that place too). The service was great both times we visited too.

I have lived in San Antonio for the last six years so I try to be careful about comparing any chain store BBQ to anything there. The brisket was actually cooked perfectly and the extra sauce choices were great. I was very surprised. Brisket can be a pain to get right. However, it was balanced out by some average ribs that were over cooked on 50 percent of the slab. Just guessing from prior grill experience that these were on way to long and too close to the BBQ chicken that lives to fuel the fire. Service was great Andrew and the beer was cold. Roanoke’s own Track One!

To start with, the food is way overpriced for what you get. My fish pieces were small and the macaroni(up-charge!) was the worst macaroni & cheese I’ve ever had at a restaurant. They are not using real cheese. It looks great but it tastes mushy and powdery. I was really disappointed. My sister ordered a bbq burger which was really well seasoned(and is the reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1). Also their loaded fries are pretty good but they skimped on all of the toppings, including the cheese. The small plate I received was NOT worth $ 8. Maybe it’s just this location, but I definitely got a «We’re cheap» vibe. I will not be returning. I wish I had eaten somewhere else and saved my money.

The food was terrible. I’ve had better barbeque at fast food joints at a fraction of the price. My husband and I ate here on our way down I-81, he suggested it because he had heard good things. I’m not sure if our experience is reflective of all Smokey Bones or just the one in Roanoke. I order beef briquette and it was very chewy and very fatty– I had to cut huge chunks of fat of and even then it was still chewy and not very good. My husband who is from NC and a big BBQ fan agreed that it was terrible. I also paid the $ 2 up charge to get the macaroni and cheese(big mistake). The macaroni was gushy(very over cooked) and the cheese part was watery and tasted like the kind of cheese you’d use for nachos. Very gross. My husband did slightly better– he had a pulled pork sandwich but said that it was boring and tasteless. For a $ 40 meal, you expect something decent, not over cooked slimy food. Our server was nice… I just wish the food had been nice too. This was our first and only time eating at Smokey Bones.

After my first long night of work away from home on this business trip, I came here with my co-workers to get our BBQ on. I needed protein STAT. After a very long and hard decision, I settled on the Smokehouse chicken sandwich. When it came to the table with my sweat tea, I experimented with the 4 – 5 bbq sauces in squirt bottles on the table to get my sodium level up just right. Chicken was splendid! This is like Famous Daves but for cooler people. Its all a blur, but I’m glad I rented a suburban because I drove home with my gut laid out in front of me. Oh and the waitresses are cute here!
