I went here on a field trip in second grade. I was already upset because the teacher had embarrassed me in front of the whole class because I didn’t like Chinese food. Therefore, the only thing I ate there was a cookie (Which was dry) and water. Looking back, I am really glad I didn’t eat because almost everyone in the class got horrible food poisoning from the food. 3 kids threw up right on the bus, another 2 threw up at school, and 6 more went home early. All of them were gone the next day. They came back pale and tired looking, which leads me to believe that it was either the norovirus or E.coli. If I could give zero stars I would. 0⁄10 would not recommend to women, children, the elderly, or anyone currently breathing.

It’s a Chinese buffet. Needing a place to eat at on Christmas Day, of course the Chinese buffet was open. Standard fare American Chinese food. Service is good and the prices are decent.

In town on business and staying at the hotel across the street. I had the buffet and was a little disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options but there were a few. The food was good but cold and it wasn’t until I started writing this review that I began to wonder what the health department might have to say about food temperatures! The service was nonexistent; I did not see my waiter until I went up to the receptionist to ask for my check… then he came running! He never came by to take my order, clear a dirty plate or check on anything; I didn’t know who my waiter was until I was leaving. At least he saved me a few bucks on the tip! I will not return nor would I recommend this restaurant.

This place is totally ridiculous. Its very small so there’s not much to chose from. We went around dinner time and most of the food was cold or tasted old. We winded up spending $ 33 on our family meal was it worth it HELLNO. will we be going back HELLNONOTNEVER.

The best Chinese food buffet in southwest Virginia. Yes, not all dishes there are a hit but they always have lots of meats. The honey chicken is the best. I love the staff and environment there.

Staying at a hotel across the street and decided to come in. It’s worth it. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Good food. Nice selection. Quiet. And I’m eating by myself and don’t feel weird about it. Definitely recommend! !

Arrived for lunch, lots of chicken dishes the normal Chinese chicken dishes, but nothing tasted like chicken. Is it really chicken? Lots of choices, but the flavor is off from the normal.

My husband and I tried this restaurant today. This is your typical American Chinese fast food buffet. The food was okay though I believe this place has a lot of potential. I think they need to have more food choices. The restaurant is a pretty good size, so they have plenty of room to expand their buffet. The waiter was very nice and kept coming to check if we needed more drinks. The food was fresh and hot.

I’m here now and I’m very disappointed. The fried rice was cold along with the chicken on the stick. The General’s chicken was probably the worst I’ve ever had. The honey chicken on the other hand was a delightful improvement. Even though the wait staff was on the ball and very friendly I would not recommend coming here.

Perhaps one of the best buffet American Chinese Food! The food does NOT have that«canned massed produced» taste! They also have a huge selection on their buffet that has distinctly different taste! The Hot & Spur soup is perhaps the best ever tasted! I have tasted plenty of variation if this soup! Most Hot & Sour Soup is a variation of soy sauce mixed with a a few vegetables & a few slices of meat BUT at Red Palace this soup is jammed packed with«stuff» with Tina of meat! Needless to say all the food has ample portions of everything! They don’t seem to cut corners or short any meats & vegetables etc. The wait staff here is very attentive to the Restaurant Patron’s needs! I highly recommend this place!

I am always a little scared of buffett but this place is awesome! The service is friendly, quick, organized. The food is FRESH and there is a lot of variety. A really good place to go for a date or family outing. Price is reasonable too.

Pretty bland stuff here. Good variety and nice service but don’t expect much other than to get your fill of Americanized Chinese

Of course the food here isn’t authentic Chinese but what you’ll find is a nice variety of buffet choices paired with exemplary service. The food is slightly above average – for a buffet and wins in the presentation department. All the food seems to have been thoughtfully prepared and placed. Above all, the selection is quite large. There is also a fairly large offering of deserts and fresh fruits. Many of the servers are from Indonesia and are more than happy to go above and beyond to make your experience a pleasant one. Cleanliness is not an issue as the staff are very attentive and constantly standing by to wipe any stray noodles up! Highly recommended for a relaxing and easygoing meal!

I come here more often than I should admit. Starting a new diet tomorrow, so my friend and I chose this place as our Last Chance Meal. As always, friendly hostess greeter. Exceptional service. Very nice waiters. I would give this a 5 star, except it’s Americanized Chinese food. I’m pretty sure Americanized Chinese food only goes up to 4. Extensive Buffet. Name something you’ll find in any Chinese restaurant in the midwest, and they likely have it on the buffet. I like the fried area — good spring rolls, and crab wontons. But, the General Tso’s, the sweet and sour, the moo goo gai pain — it’s ALL there. At night, the dessert selection is pretty darn good, and they also have Breyer’s ice cream you can scoop yourself. Real ice cream, not that fountain stuff. I haven’t found better in Roanoke. Not to say I’ve spent much time looking, but this is the go-to Chinese place for me and my friends.

The food seemed fairly fresh and there were a ton of options on the large buffet which most everybody seems to eat from — unfortunately there was an astounding lack of flavor in everything I tried. Only one item really had enough flavor that I enjoyed it, therefore I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place despite the fairly packed parking lot which made me walk in to start with.

Dead allergic to MSG so I steer clear of the buffet which is the prime time here. They allow me to order from 5 or so select items off the«Healthy» menu, so I always end up with the chicken and fresh vegetables. The chicken and veggies are steamed and sauceless, so its not very exciting, but everything is nicely cooked. I drown it in soy sauce just so I can compete with the colorful plates my dinner buddies have in front of them, and it tastes just fine. Nothing to write home about, but I give them an extra star for the Hershey’s ice cream on the buffet. Everyone loves ice cream, and its MSG free!

The Red Palace is a stand-alone Americanized Chinese restaurant with its own parking lot, located next to Valley View Mall. This place is nuts! They have 5 huge buffet tables filled with anything you could ever want — rice, lo meins, poultry, fish, soup, desserts, pork, red meat and salads,. All of their food is fresh and delicious. A notable point about The Red Palace is that they are constantly refreshing and restocking and refilling the buffet. You’ll rarely find a half full or worse yet — empty tray. The waitresses all wear somewhat«traditional» Chinese dresses, but more importantly — they’re extremely friendly and efficient. My water glass was never even close to empty, and they always make sure to take away dirty plates as soon as they see you get up for another helping. They also have a full bar and a pretty extensive and creative cocktail list. I didn’t get to try any of the booze, but plan on it the next time I’m in town. I came here twice during my trip — both times for lunch. The first time was with my dad — he enjoyed flirting with all of the waitresses. The second time was with my mom and step dad. On both occasions, a manager(or owner?) was walking around saying hello to his customers and making sure the buffet stayed in tip-top shape. However, the worst part of the Red Palace is the restroom. It was so gross I literally started dry heaving while in there(my mother, who was also in there with me — thought this to be hilarious and deemed laughter as an appropriate reaction!) Aside from the restrooms, this is the best Chinese Buffet in town!
