I was there once a New Year’s Eve. It was terrible. I could not even get a drink. The people are rude as can be. Kept pushing themselves up to the bar. And the bartender would not even acknowledge that I was waiting to make a drink order. I have not been back since then.

Again, went to Metro the following month and the staff is still on! Jessica is supercharged, Taylor and Tyler are great bartenders and the cooking staff is in front of you(if you’re at the bar) setting the kitchen on fire(not literally) Chef Andy has a great command of the restaurant and his persona speaks to what a chef should be! If you’re in Roanoke, or strolling down the east coast, stop in and enjoy a moment at the Metro!

Metro! continues to impress. They have a fantastic sushi selection with many items that you just can’t get anywhere else in Roanoke, like the Japanese sweet fish. These are amazing! The bento boxes are probably the best«deal» for lunch at $ 10 and full of various combinations. I like creating my own with the a la carte skewers. Wagyu ribeye, duck breast, pork belly and different vegetables are my favs. The service is great and the atmosphere is hip. I prefer bourbon and scotch but the bar is cutting edge and on par with much larger cities, as is the wine list. Late night music is great.

They literally charged us for not drinking alcohol. Not going back. Sushi was not great.

Just had some skewers off the new konro grill. Amazing. The beer selection is fantastic, Taylor the bartender is taking care of us. Don’t miss out by going to a lesser place!

Metro! is(usually) one of my favorite restaurants in Roanoke! My most recent visit I was a little disappointed. We arrived close to 8:30. I love the she-crab soup; they were out! Very disappointing. Sushi was excellent per usual and service was fair. Maybe caught them at an off time of evening? Expected a little more for a Friday night.

Metro is a lovely restaurant with very good food that is very proud of their product. The only real gripe I have is that $ 124 for four people doing Sunday Brunch with only one Bloody Mary served is too expensive! Our reservation was at 1pm and only one other group of four in the house. Set up reservation through Unilocal, got confirm text, they had no record of it. Service was attentive but slow to deliver at times. We had a She-crab soup and a scallop appetizer, very nice. Coffee was cold and they had to brew a new pot. We ordered a ham, mushroom and cheese omelet; 2 eggs, sausage, hash browns; French Toast; Avocado Eggs Benedict. Omelet was good, not great, the Japanese bread toast is very soft and tasty. French Toast was excellent(would go back for that, delicious!) eggs were eggs, sausage was good, eggs Benedict came with a tomato slice(???) that was a bit off-putting. We had coffee, orange juice and one Bloody Mary. Everything on brunch menu was a-la-carte, and I thought their price point is too high for breakfast food. If we had drinks the bill would have been ridiculous. $ 5 for all ‘side’ items, $ 8 for coffee… pricing review for Brunch Menu please!

Ordered the dim sum sample platter and the crunchy beef sushi roll. While the food was unique and good, it was the quality you’d expect from a fusion food truck and not worth the money. Our server was wonderful but the service(even with a reservation & only two people on a Sunday night) was very slow. While we were immediately shown to our table, we sat for nearly 15 minutes before even be greeted at the table. Again our server was great and tried to make up for it with a desert on the house but overall not the experience I expect for the price.

We had lunch here today and it was excellent. Ordered the market salad, oysters, tempura cauliflower and fish tacos. The fish tacos were my least favorite, but still good. The oysters, cauliflower and market salad were fantastic.

Service was great… Friendly stuff on point … Food… different story… We ordered chef’s special sushi x2 $ 31 per serving which was far from what sushi is(since you don’t get to pick…“chefs special”)… 75% of it was deep fried crap… and the other stuff was far from yummy… May as well go to KFC for fraction of the price… and whatever you do… don’t drink to much… $ 6.25 Stella’s beers and $ 14 house wines… At the end for at best the mediocre dinner with a tip we spent $ 140 …look elsewhere… !!! You don’t get what you pay for in that joint…

Sushi was very meh. I wouldn’t order sushi from here again knowing how good I can get elsewhere. The serve was okay and the outdoor seating was a tad uncomfortable.

I was in town for one night. In checking out Unilocal,I saw this place, but honestly hesitated due to the mixed reviews. I went with my gut instinct and it was a score. I am an older lady and I hate dining alone. The maitre de seemed to pick up on that and sat me close to the front and hooked me up with James. The two of them were properly attentive(and sweet). The special was a crabcake and it was fantastic. I also had the Caesar salad which was done differently and was delicious. If I ever return to downtown Roanoke I would love to dine here again. Ask for James, he was perfect!

What a great place! I only wish I would have eaten dinner here sooner. I had the cod fritters and Kobe burger with kim-chee fries and a side of ghost pepper sauce. What an amazing meal! Had a couple Paloma’s as well — perfectly mixed. My wife had the sweet/sour fried chicken starter and the risotto, which were both delicious. The presentation of each plate was great and our server Mathew made the meal very enjoyable. I will definitely be back soon!

Over Parent’s Weekend late last year(I’m a student at Roanoke), I decided to try to really impress my father with the restaurant scene in downtown Roanoke. We made reservations for Metro, and we were genuinely excited when we got there; the atmosphere was nice, the bar looked promising, and the weather was nice enough to sit outside. The first thing that surprised me was the price of the sushi — steep. In my opinion, overpriced. I got a sashimi bowl with rice and my father got a few rolls, and they weren’t worth what we paid for them. The service was good, as was the wine, but aside from that, Metro didn’t seem to be anything special. We won’t be back.

A couple of friends and I wanted to celebrate our last day as roomies and decided to give Metro a try. The décor inside was nice and the drink prices were affordable. I ordered two different drinks to share, one had green tea in it and the other was the house sangria. When I saw the cocktail had green tea and grapefruit in it, I was excited to give a try hoping it would be a nice substitute to the delicious concoction in Manhattan, but unfortunately it didn’t even come close. On the other hand I do recommend getting the house sangria, it was both affordable and delicious. I’m not sure if they change it on a daily basis or not, but the one we got had watermelon in it and if you’re a watermelon fean like me, then this is the drink for you. The bartender/waitress was nice enough to let us sample the drink before ordering it. Lastly, I ordered a cheese plate that had 3 different types of cheese, some toasted bread and brandy infused pecans. I don’t remember this dish too well, but it did go well with the wine. The only reason I gave this place a 3-star is because when I looked at the reviews I expected a little bit more. On a side note: the menu does say they have half off sushi during the afternoon.

Metro! What an interesting name to call a place and I always wondered what was inside as I walked by the open kitchen window from the sidewalk in downtown Roanoke. Fast forward to Valentines day, reservations were made and we were seated overlooking the modern style décor of the bar area, kitchen, and fellow restaurant goers for that evening. It was a great view however there was a big ventilation pipe right above us that I could literally touch while sitting from my seat, I would have to be careful when getting up not to bump my head on it. The service was average, nothing special. I ordered a martini but was told they were out of certain ingredients, so I then ordered a beer, but it came out flat, so I then opted for a mixed drink that my date was drinking but it did not look anything like the one she drank, I get it, sometimes the bar is busy, no big deal, the fixed food courses were coming up and I was hungry. The charcuterie plate looked nice and the cheeses and meat were good, just a tad but salty after a few bites, it would have been nice to have a jam or chutney accompany it to extinguish the salt flavor on my tongue. The Caesar salad Napoleon style was very innovative and neat but it lacked that refreshing Caesar freshness I was looking for and just tasted like watered down dressing with a salty croûton crust. My final dish, the sea bass with risotto was filling and hearty but I could not find any identifiable flavors that made it great, just boring and normal. Maybe I did not order the right things, but everything seemed either too salty or too bland, I couldn’t find that happy medium. The dessert was a mixture of chocolate miniature treats and not being a big dessert goer, my chocolate lover girlfriend dug in but she thought it was a little too much. It would have been nice to have something fruity or cake like to balance this dessert out a little. Picking up the tab I realized this will be the second most I’ve ever spent on a dinner!(Minibar in DC being the most) I just didn’t really get that well fed fuzzy proud feeling by the end of everything that I get from other places at this price. Slightly disappointed we got up to leave, and my premonition came true as my girlfriend bumped her head into that ventilation pipe right above our table! Seriously don’t have a table there, it’s a hazard. I really wanted to like this place but in the end, things just didn’t go as well as I would have liked them to go. Metro! was just a little too much Meh…
