This is a fantastic place to go! If you get a chance to eat here, the fried green tomatoes are a must-have as they have a classic and tasty southern flare complete with heated pimento cheese and mushroom grits on top… The service was phenomenal! Heather T you are an amazing lady!!! Thank you so much for an awesome lunch!

The food was great and so was the local beer that our server Jeremy recommended. The desserts were also very good. We were just passing through, but would definitely stop here again. Jeremy was very friendly and so was the rest of the staff, even though it was close to closing time we were not rushed.

Another great lunch stop on our trip from Asheville to Maryland. We are 6 and were seated immediately which was great because we were all hungry. We all left happy and full. The hands down best part of Hollywood’s was the fresh baked bread(OMG!) and the waitstaff. There was something on the menu for everyone ages 10 – 84. Salads were very fresh. Pulled pork and roast beef delish, fries hot and crispy. We bought dinner rolls and dessert to take home. You can eat quick and get back on the road or you can take your time. If you are local, this should be your place. If you are traveling 81 stop here for a meal.

Fantastic burger, service, and pastries. My gps had trouble finding them. Call in advance to get directions.

I had such high hopes based on the reviews but they fell way short of the mark. I cannot see what the fuss was all about. Mrs Batman was cold and asked for a table away from the ac. It appears all the tables are near the ac. Waitress was quick to ask for our order. That’s the only reason why there is one star. The«hot» roast beef sandwich was not hot, not lukewarm. The potato’s were cold as well and the green beans would have been better raw. If you think about getting the crab cake, PASS. Mrs Paul’s in the frozen food section at Piggly Wiggly is better. The music must have been good as the waitress couldn’t stop singing along. Except when she was over by the kitchen window, EATING, waiting for the orders to come out. We could not leave fast enough and will never be returning.

hollywood’s is like going to your grandmother’s house to eat. Fresh, delicious comfort food and friendly service that treats you like family. This place is a hidden gem and I tell everyone who will listen to try Hollywood’s! The dragon’s tooth sandwich is so unique and delicious and the soups are always impeccable, especially loaded potato. Quick enough to go during the day on a lunch hour– can’t go wrong! I’ve never had anything on the menu I didn’t like.

I’ve only eaten dinner here a couple of times and have been super pleased. I believe I got the quesadilla both times which was great… But I always come here for the bakery items. They have the very best! I stop by here on Fridays or Saturday’s for a treat for my husband and I after dinner. The mint brownie is to die for. I put it in the microwave when I get home and it’s so good and gooey. The cheesecake and the pecan bar are also delicious. The cakes look amazing. When I have friends in town for the weekend, I stop by and get several desserts and I cut them up for my friends and I to share. Yum! Thanks Hollywood for being a great option for delicious bakery items in Roanoke. I don’t know where else I would go!

So I’m giving this place a 4 due to the service, atmosphere and future visits!!! I love great local places and this fits the bill!!! My first stop here and I had the Rueben sandwich with pasta salad. Nothing phenomenal, but not bad. The bread was fresh, which I always love! The corn beef was just ok, but the kraut and cheese were also great!!! The pasta salad was decent also. I need to come back and try their specialties!!!

I love this place! They have great salads(try the tomato dill dressing!!) and their chicken sandwiches are all really good as well. My husband swears by the shrimp and grits. The only thing I’ve had that I didn’t love was the meatloaf and my friends have said to steer clear of the grilled cheese. The service is always super friendly!

A great find in Roanoke. Thank you to the staff at the Fairfield Inn for the tip! Great menu with plenty of choices and a lot of good, Southern comfort food. The food we ate was fresh and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Hollywood’s is a must-stop for a meal when you’re in town.

March 30, 2016 — Just finished a dinner that couldn’t be beat. I had the fried oyster dinner which included 2 sides — garden salad and sweet potato fries. The 10 large, lightly breaded(flour + corn meal) oysters were delicious and the tomato picante and horseradish sauce was perfect. The salad(with warm dinner rolls) was fresh and cool and(my wife said) that the sweet potato fries were wonderful. My wife had the pecan-apple salad which she said was very nice. The service was professional as usual and especially fast tonight. The price for the two of us was under $ 26(we drank ice water, no dessert but we were tempted by the awesome dessert menu). 5 stars for Hollywood’s!

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday around 11:45 and it was just starting to get crowded. So glad we tried this place, great experience! Our waitress was hurried but friendly and the manager(owner?) stopped by our table to ask how everything was. My husband had the open-faces roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and green beans. He said it was very good and his only complaint was that the beef could have been a bit more tender. I had the Dragon’s Tooth vegetarian sandwich. It was outstanding. Very creative combination. Would definitely go back when I’m in the area again.

I had always heard Hollywood’s was good, but as long as I have lived in the Roanoke area, I had never been there. I went today for lunch and got the Corned Beef and Cabbage. I can’t think of anything good to say except the staff was nice enough … I don’t know if they have this dish on their menu regularly, but it was pretty bad. The beef was like shoe leather, the cabbage wasn’t seasoned, the best thing on the plate was a boiled red potato… and that wasnt salted at all. I may be spoiled by my wife’s Guinness flavored version of the dish, but I was pretty disappointed. No need to try there a 2nd time.

Fabulous waitress really made this night awesome. The food was good. We bought extra rolls to eat in our hotel room. The dessert portions were huge, and delicious. Be aware that it is a busy place, and not a lot of room to wait inside if it’s cold out!

Had a day of driving and when arrived in Roanoke the hotel manager recommended Hollywood. Went and had a delicious Chef Salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The place was clean and our waitress was fantastic. She was attentive, quick, and delightful. Would definitely recommend this place to other visitors of Roanoke.

4.5! The fries alone should rate a 5! We found Hollywood’s after an excruciatingly long trip to the DMV for an unpleasant task. Our late lunch was very good: mom had the famous crab cake, slaw and fries, I had the black bean wrap and a fresh green salad. Full and happy, we ordered a cream puff and coconut cake to go — looking forward to desert. I wish we were on this side of town more often. Maybe without the DMV appetizer I would have rated it a 5 stars.

This place came highly recommended, so we tried it out on our way through. Such a disappointment. I’m not sure what previous food experiences all of these high ratings reviewers have, but the food here wasn’t very good. It wasn’t bad either, exactly, it was… uninspired. It was also moronically expensive. Two kids meals(my kids were called them cow meat sandwiches since they came on bread rather than a bun), a burger(which was actually pretty good) and fish tacos(aka cardboard tacos), 3 soft drinks, a cup of horribly bland white chili and a slice of(I think it was supposed to be) cake… $ 60. This is actually the second time we’ve eaten here, and it will most certainly be the last as the first try was just as disappointing. The carpet padding artwork was certainly… Interesting… As well(see photos). All that said, the wait staff was very good — attentive and very nice. It’s not their fault the food isn’t any good, so I added one star for that.

Looking for a quality stop not too far off 81 during a day of driving, Unilocal led us here, and I’m glad it did. As others note, the service was very friendly. The menu had plenty of options for everyone, including my small kids. They ordered the buttered pasta and cheese to share which was served already split in two bowls. Of the a adults, we ordered the fried green tomato BLT, the salmon salad, and a starter of the coconut shrimp with a side salad. Everyone enjoyed the food, which was clearly made with quality ingredients. We all enjoyed sharing a slice of coconut cake which was delicious; moist and tasted of a hint of pineapple that helped make it. I’m not sure when I’ll be near Roanoke again, but I would recommend Hollywood’s to any travelers who wish to have a quality meal without having to venture far from their route while avoiding any«downtown» traffic.

So — prior to eating lunch here with my mom last Friday I had eaten here MANY years ago with my ex-husband before we moved away from the area to Virginia Beach. I’ve always remembered it fondly. I showed my mom their menu online and she wanted to try it out because she saw the tomato appetizer and BLT sandwich… she’s a huge tomato fan. We stopped in around 2−3pm for lunch and there were only about 2 other customers. Our waitress was moderately friendly and she was prompt and competent — but she rubbed me the wrong way with a little bit of attitude she threw my way when I asked her how big the cup of soup was. She snidely said, «Well, it’s a cup. Of soup… so…» Um, excuse me, I’ve had cups of soups at loads of places and one man’s cup is not the same as another so I was asking because I hate to waste food, so… That wasn’t appreciated. But the rest of the service was fine. I wanted their white chicken chili nachos because I remember they were amazing but I opted for a little healthier this time since I’d had a milkshake earlier elsewhere and went with a veggie wrap called the Sunshine wrap which had a black bean mix with corn, cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream rolled in a sun-dried tomato tortilla with a side salad. I asked for the salsa and sour cream on the side. It was pretty good but the salad should not be served on the same plate as the wrap bc once you add dressing it’s going to get on your wrap and make it soggy… My mom ordered the fried green tomato BLT and it was disgusting. It was so greasy with the pimento cheese and the small little fried green tomato was like a little token in the middle of the bread… she didn’t like it at all and I took a bite and was really grossed out by all the grease from the cheese… ugh. Good concept — bad execution. Overall — it wasn’t as great as I remember… the food wasn’t all terrible and they have some good sounding items on their menu. But what we got — wasn’t spectacular and it was just sort’of underwhelming so my review has to reflect that.
