Food was amazing!!! Came out quickly and we all loved what we ordered from the Orrecchiete Con Salsciccia to my 8 year old’s pizza.(Quatrro Formaggi) The drinks were perfect, the ambiance was cool and fun. We will be regulars. Parking across the street is free after 6pm. A definite must try in Roanoke.

This place is a must try. I’ve been going every few months since it has been open. The pizza crust is delicious and the ingredients are fresh. My son and I love olives and we always order the marinated olives which had a nice variety. The margherita, marinara, patate, and the vegano are delicious. The ambiance is very nice and the servers and staff are very nice as well. Nice dinner place that you can take the kids to.

The food was fantastic and service good, once we understood what was offered on the menu. The menu was difficult for us to understand due to use of Italian words. The server was most helpful to provide clarification. I had the margarita pizza and side salad. All of my friends and I agreed once we got over the initial awkwardness of finding our way around the menu, the food was fresh and tasty and definitely worth a trip back there.

Beautiful food, fantastic vegan options, excellent service, great drinks, nice atmosphere. So far, my favorite restaurant in Roanoke, hands down! I had bread/olive oil, olives/giardiniera, brussels sprouts salad, and the Vegano pizza alongside a nice Italian rose brut. I cannot believe I found a nice place that makes cashew ricotta to offer on the vegan pizza instead of the typical ‘processed fake cheese’. Beautiful, fresh ingredients! My only request would be for a vegan dessert, as most Italian restaurants offer sorbet on the menu. I can’t wait to go back!

Their lamb meatballs and their pizza were incredibly delicious. The atmosphere and the décor of the place is very nice. The location is also very accessible if you don’t mind parking on the street. The service is great and the prices were reasonable for the food however portion sizes were a bit small.

Cocktails and charcuterie are on point and the entrees are interesting and fresh. It’s a very enjoyable experience, though a bit pricy. The service is some of the best we’ve had in the valley and we truly enjoyed the evening from start to finish.

Wow, this place is awesome! We had a business dinner at Fortunato’s last night that included four Japanese, a Brazilian and two Americans. We were supposed to be twelve but several of the locals begged off at the last minute. That had me worried because I made the reservations for 12 and with only 7 arriving. If it worried the staff they did not show it. Just the opposite in fact, they seemed happy to have the space made available to their regulars. Service is spectacular. Scott, our waiter was supported by a cadre of help. We had servers hovering over ours and the other tables ready to take drink orders, keep glasses of water full and answer questions about the menu OMG the food is good. I started by ordering small plates of meatballs, mussels and cheese/meats. Those arrived shortly after drinks and quick awed the group. We were wondering if we even needed main course but my Japanese guests had all need flying for the last day and were famished I ordered the Pasta Al Nero DI Sepia, a past dish blackens with octopus ink and with squid, olives and tomatoes. Scott warned me that the dish was salty but had a fresh seafood taste. The chef nailed the right balance — this is a repeat dish for me. My neighbor ordered the Bronzino. This is a roasted whole fish plate. It looked spectacular and my neighbor said he enjoyed it thoroughly. Over all, this restaurant is a strange combination of pizza parlor and old world Tuscan ristorante. They pull it off fabulously!

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away and our server was wonderful. We started with 2 appetizers, olives/giardiniera and bread with olive oil. Both were very good, no herbs in the oil though so not very flavorful. There were 2 beers on draft which is slim pickins but better than none. My $ 10 glass of wine was served in what I’ll call a small juice glass. Very disappointing. I want my wine in a nice wine glass. That’s part of the enjoyment for me. We had the Vegano pizza and it was really good. So nice to have a vegan pizza made so well. Also note that there were quite a few unfamiliar ingredients in a lot of their menu items, including the cocktails. So… study ahead of time or be prepared to do research.

The Vegano! This is what a vegan pizza should taste like people. While Daiya is a suitable substitute most of the time, Fortunato’s cashew ricotta is on a whole other level. It is something I can actually crave rather than feel like I’m settling. I’d love to see a vegan friendly entre to go with the pizza. That is the only thing holding me back from giving them a fifth star. But if I was only rating that pizza, five stars.

This place is fantastic. Everyone raved about their dishes, but the stand out stars were the pizza Margherita and the Guanciale di Manzo. The pizza crust is light, pillowy and crispy, just how I’ve had it in Rome. Their marinara is fresh and fruity and was terrific on the pizza and the lamb meat balls. I liked the Porchetta, but it was not what I was expecting. The fennel gave it more of an Italian sausage flavor versus the Porchetta I’ve had in Italy. The Guanciale di Manzo is a must try. The slightly fatty shredded beef cheek went perfect with the slightly salty and cheesy risotto. The risotto that night was absolutely the best I’ve ever had, perfectly al dente and silky. The dish was so fantastic that I almost ordered a second for dessert. For dessert we ordered the zeppoles, but they were so good I didn’t even get a bite. We went on a Wednesday around 6:30 pm and the restaurant was empty except for 1 or 2 tables and the bar. This made for easy seating, but a place this good should have been packed. Next time I’m in town I’m definitely going back. PS. Good drinks too

Felt like dining at the bar. Jackie was quick to greet me and makes hands down the best Old fashioned I have ever had. The menu is a bit difficult to maneuver unless you are fluent in authentic Italian/Portuguese cuisine. With some recommendations I ordered an immensely enjoyed the Cacio E Pepe pasta entrée bit enjoyed the meat/cheese and olives appetizers. This place is a bit pricy but the food is well worth the price and the service is top notch. I also found out that they typically weren’t open on Mondays, so lucky me they decided to expand their business hours. If you like flavorful food give Fortunato a try, your palette won’t be disappointed. Also They make a post dinner limoncello that is worth the month and a half wait to prepare. Again, this place is a bit pricy but it’s also top notch quality. You definitely get what you pay for. I will be back.

NYE celebration here. We randomly stumbled here and the drinks are AWESOME. The drinks are so unique. Come here if you want to try something new. Their combination of liquids is unique definitive. Perfect. The bartenders are so incredibly nice(it’s almost overwhelming how nice they are). Awesome. Enough said.

Fortunato does not disappoint. From the greeting to the desert, the entire experience is fantastic. The gorgeous open gilded dining room sets the stage for this opulent local eatery. The dishes are authentic, the cocktails are original, the wine list is inspired, and the deserts are the perfect hint of sweet(as not to put you over the edge after a filling meal). With homemade pasta & bread and locally sourced ingredients, how can you go wrong? I can’t say enough positive things about this new downtown hot spot. My best advice? Go with friends and order with the intention of sharing so you can try a little bit of everything! …And don’t be afraid to sit at the family style tables and make some new friends!

Stopped in last night for a drink after dinner elsewhere. We didn’t have a reservation, and the place was full, but the hostess found a spot for our party of four and seated us quickly — she was very accommodating. Seating is a communal style — common tables with multiple parties, and I think it annoyed some guests because they thought they could commandeer an entire table, but a busy restaurant on a Saturday night? C’mon. Drink list was minimal, but very creative cocktails. Delicious, with good options — lack of an extensive list wasn’t a problem at all. Food looked really good, as well — based on the menu, appeared to be an Italian/Tuscan style. Can’t wait to go back and try it again. Sister restaurant to Lucky’s, around the corner.

I’ve been twice now and I think the restaurant has done a lot to improve some of the initial issues. They have definitely done something to address the noise. It’s a busy, bustling restaurant, but the noise level is no longer overwhelming. The portion sizes for the pastas have also increased. The first time we went I felt very rushed, dishes came out really quickly, server brought us our bill before we’d even finished eating, but the second time around I did not have that experience. I’ve tried two of the pizzas and they were both excellent. The meatballs are delicious, as is the gnocchi. The bread is also very good, I just wish there was a bit more of it especially with having to pay for it! The drinks are very well made(wouldn’t expect anything less from the owners of Lucky!) I do wish there was a few more small tables and less communal seating. The big communal tables are fun with a group but when you’re out on a much needed date night with the husband we prefer being alone. Oh and do not skip the doughnuts! They are fantastic!

We went early on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was already fairly busy. They sat us quickly, and our server was incredibly nice. The food came out quickly, and it was wonderfully seasoned and just plain olé delicious. The prices were extremely reasonable. And the pizzas were good sized(two of us shared one and walked out full). Honestly? Our only complaint was that the restaurant was really loud. I love the overall vibe, but at times it was hard to hear each other speak. Not that big of a deal, we were seated near the bar so it was to be expected. We will definitely be back, and can’t wait to see what they have on the menu next time!

We went on a Saturday night during their second week of opening. Pros: Sleek look to the restaurant with a nyc vibe Great service, friendly, knowledgable wait staff Fantastic selection of tasty cocktails Call ahead and fast seating right when we arrived Lamb Ricotta meatballs Cons: Super loud. We were a party of four and the entire time had to yell at each other to be heard. It was awful and by the time we left, my voice was actually going. Portions: they are all very small for the price Pastas: We all ordered a signature pasta dish and no one was really pleased. Mine smelled so strong of fish, I couldn’t even eat it and I love fish! The noodles were too crunchy and the shrimp tasted undercooked. Granted, they were slammed, and the dishes were all coming out super fast, so this could be the issue. Not sure, and we also didn’t send our dishes back. I know I would have if it would have been just my husband and I. So, all in all, we left spending $ 250+ and still hungry. At least we had several good cocktails! On another note, I hear the pizzas are the way to go, but we had pizza for lunch, so we didn’t order any. Will we give it another shot? Possibly. We would sit at the bar, order a drink and split a pizza, and that would be the way to go.
