As of Friday, June 10th this place is closed. There’s a sign in the door claiming it’s «closed for renovations.»

Third time here… The place was empty, service was slow as if they were getting slammed, salsa definitely still out of a jar, overpriced even with a coupon. Plate presentation is great but tasteless. 3 strikes your out Cabos, I believe we gave you a fair shot, let’s see what occupies this location next… won’t be long.

This place has the best quesadilla I’ve ever had, I always order the steak and I love it. Their queso is pretty good as well. I mostly order to go and haven’t had any issues. I have eaten in a few times though and the service could be worked on but it’s not terrible.

Have been here on several occasions and never disappointed! Izzy at the bar is great and makes amazing margaritas! Great taco Tuesday and definitely worth the money. I have taken several friends who has all returned because of the good experiences we have had. Will definitely return when working in the area!

The place is real nice but the food is not to good. The avocado tasted rotten. The server was complete lost. She was very nice but didn’t have a clue about the food. To much money for the quality.

First time here, ordered a shrimp cabo platter with rice and beans. Everything was excellent! From the food to the drinks to the service. I’m definitely coming back on Thursdays for their sangria special! :-)

Love this place… Great food and atmosphere but their 2 for 1 margaritas last night for Cinco de Mayo were a rip… Paid $ 10 for 2 tiny plastic cup margaritas that were mostly ice and lemon juice when the normal margarita I get there is only $ 7 and is larger and nice and strong. Also they advertised 2 tequila shot specials… One for 3 and one for $ 5; when we attempted to order 2 of the $ 3 shots we were told no that was only if u added on to beer purchase and were not able to order even though we had an entire bucket of beer sitting on our table that we had already purchased at the bar prior to being seated. Food: Boyfriend got the #8 Chile Rellenos which was amazing. Enchilada which was good and pork tamale which sucked I got the #9 Beef Chimichanga which was amazing, chicken flauta which was just ok and again a pork tamale that was awful Have been here a couple other times as well and highly recommend the following : Beef Tacos, Shrimp Tacos, Beef Chimichanga, Chile Rellenos and their tableside guacamole.

Average Mexican food, with a little bit of a high price for what you get. The margaritas are nice and the atmosphere is solid with some cool decorations but other than that nothing too special. If the food was cheaper I would rate it higher, but you can find better Mexican food for a cheaper price around.

Ugh. Stay away. Went in with my three friends on a Saturday around noon when very few customers were present, and we all had a very disappointing experience. We universally found the food bland, poorly prepared, and not received as we had ordered them. One of the greatest complaints was that all of our food was lacking ANY seasoning at all. It looked rather nice on the plates as it came out… but had far less flavor than they appeared. My food was the worst, specifically because of two problems. You have to understand, I HATE mayonnaise and sour cream. I decided to try the Burrito Loco — the idea of a beer battered burrito sounded interesting. The waitress was even considerate when I asked if I could have it with a different protein as I didn’t feel like either ground beef or chicken, and I asked for shrimp but with no sour cream. When I got my food, I found this«chipotle sauce» was built off of a mayo base, and that they had included sour cream despite my request to the contrary. Even though there being few customers present, the food took quite some time to arrive so I decided to just eat my food. It was so bland, but the flavors of the sour cream and mayonnaise OVERWHELMED everything else. I couldn’t even finish it. Not only that, but the shrimp were under cooked — not raw, but definitely not that proper firmness that left them to detract from the overall texture. The server, while pleasant, didn’t double check on us after delivering the meal until we were two-thirds finished. They mostly seemed to spend their time congregating at the front counter with one another, even though it was nearly one party per server. Do yourself a favor… go anywhere else.

I would have to try this place again. The food was good, probably the best sit down Mexican in Brandon. However the service was not perfect. I’m giving the server a little leeway we had a part of 11 including 4 children. If you are hesitant because Luna’s was in this location, don’t be, this isn’t Luna’s. The food I’d much much better. I will reevaluate when I go back.

Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. It’s close to home which is nice. The atmosphere is very nice and very clean. The food was also very good. My husband ordered the carne asada and I had the grilled chicken with onions. We liked it and would definitely return. The only downside was the length of time to get our food. The place was only half full so I was surprised it took so long to get out food. And even when we were done eating, it took long before they picked up our plates and brought our check. Other than the slow service, I really liked this place.

Excellent. I had a great meal and dessert. Good atmosphere. Great service. Outstanding value for the price. I like the Latin American style. Highly recommended. February 2016 I had another wonderful dinner here recently. Since my first visit in January 2016, I have had several dinners at Cabos. All were consistently excellent with great service. Staff is great. Everything is upbeat, smiles, and hustle — everyone is paying attention to their tasks in this comfortable restaurant. Their background music — Mexican/Latin American — is some of the most interesting and enjoyable around.

An impromptu lunch stop here New Year’s Day turned out to be a great decision that will definitely be repeated. The interior is large with really high ceiling and interesting light fixtures — who knew upside down table lamps dangling overhead could be so cool? It was not very busy and we were seated right away and quickly had chips and chunky salsa delivered to our table. On request, some spicier sauce was served that could be enjoyed on its own or blended into the salsa to add some heat. There seemed to be a little confusion over what beers were available on draft but that was quickly remedied and it was time for the eating to commence. The menu offers lots to choose from including some veggie only options as well as beef, seafood and chicken selections. My group settled on a quesadilla, a soup and a tostado chicken salad. It took a little longer than expected for the food to arrive but it could be because of the holiday. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed or maybe, because we arrived after 1 p.m., there was an assumption that we were leisurely dining and did not need to watch the clock. But when the food came out, it proved to be worth the wait. Tasty, nicely portioned and all so appealing to look at that we each had to try the other’s dish. The drink menu looked awfully tempting and the tequila selection seems to be a strongpoint but that will have to wait until another time. Finding really tasty Mexican food that is well priced for the quality and quantity provided is always a plus. Loved the atmosphere and food, hope the service and food preparation picks up a little on future visits and glad to have discovered what could easily become an addition to my more frequented dining destinations.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon with my wife. The appetizers were on point. Table side Gaucamole and the Mexican corn on the cob were amazing. Good flavor on the my main, the chilequiles, was solid. Like many casual Mexican places, lots of stuff to choose from. My wife said here dinner, one of the platters, was really good. If you like the spicy, the Jalapeño-melon margarita was really balanced and tasty! The place was exceptionally clean, and the service was very attentive. Some reviews have complained about the prices, but you won’t leave hungry.

Awesome place… nice décor and very clean. The menu is nice and complete with options for those who don’t like Mexican style plates. The price is not a problem with me as I peeked into the kitchen and saw the cleanliness… I rather pay more for better food and super clean kitchen!

I decided to give this place another shot, since they had just opened the first time I visited. My second experience was much better than the first. The biggest improvement was the food. This time it was good. I won’t be shouting it from the rooftops, but much better than before. They have also changed the menu. In my opinion, a nice improvement. The décor is still nice, and the dining area is kept clean. Also, the service was good. It seems they still have some room for improvement. One thing that is a big negative for me is the pricing. It seems a little high in comparison to other similar quality restaurants. The high prices set higher expectations, wich weren’t fully met. I’ll give it some time and try it again. Hopefully, this place keeps improving.

Took my 5 year old grandson’s here for their birthday lunch since they like Mexican food. The place has been redone and has a name change(former Luna’s) not sure if it’s the same place with a new name or not. The restaurant seemed very clean and the service was very good. It was quite empty for a Friday lunch time. They had quite a few lunch specials so we chose from that menu. I got a chicken enchilada and a beef taco and it came with rice and beans. One boy got a cheese quesadilla and the other a taco with rice and beans and hubby got chicken fajitas. I found the food to be typical bland Mexican food that is the norm for this area. Nothing stood out to me. Not enough sauce on my enchilada, but I’m sure they would have brought more if I had asked. It was just ok. Can’t comment on the margeritas since I didn’t have one(which I usually do cuz I love them). The manager checked in with us a few times to see how things were and our waitress checked on us it seemed every five minutes. They seemed very anxious to please. Bill came to $ 36 for the four of us so I think that was reasonable(except for over $ 2 for a kid’s chocolate milk!) So like I said, just ok, nothing great, good service.

#275 This is a classic case of the need for half stars. Cabo’s is located in the location that Luna’s used to occupy. Still looks pretty similiar inside. We took the grandkids there for a late lunch. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We were seated and drink orders taken within minutes along with chips and salsa. The Manager, Joe, came by to ask if we liked the salsa. I warned him I was going to be brutally honest and he said«go for it». I told him it looked and tasted just like they poured it out of the jar. Thick, tomatoey, this salsa had Pace written all over it. He assured us it was made fresh in the restaurant. I also said that my personal preference for salsa was the fresher pico de gallo type you get in the produce section of the market. He said they were trying out new things so he brought us a bowl of the salsa base and and little portions of salsa verde, rojo, pico and chopped jalapeño. The idea was to customize your salsa right at your table. Nice idea. They had a lunch insert in the menu so we ordered from it. They also had kid meals. The boys got a quesadilla meal and a taco meal. With the rice and beans it was just right for them. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas, wife an enchilada and taco combo. The meals came in good time. I was knocked out at the size of my portion, it was huge. I asked just to make sure it was the lunch portion. All in all our meals were good, not knock your socks great but good. One thing I like was that my fajitas were served on a very hot platter, not the typical sizzling skillet. I find that those aesthetically pleasing skillets continue to cook the food to the point of burning it. The hot platter was just fine. Tons of peppers and onions and a good amount of chicken. I liked it a lot and was totally full. Wife’s enchilada was good enough where I would order that myself. The boys were good with theirs. Joe continually checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Better than 3 stars but not quite 4, sure wish I had a half star to use. Service was outstanding but it was not busy. Joe was a gem. If he treats all his patrons as good as he treated us, Cabo’s will be very busy. We will be back and hopefully will go to 4 stars.

Return to the scene of the crime, I say crime because it’s been a month since we been here. The only bad thing I have to say about Cabos is the food is just a bit on the salty side for me. However, I must admit about a year and 60+ pounds ago I was overly addicted to salt, and my beautiful wife finally broke me of salt, and I barely use it now. So it may be normal for normal people. Nevertheless, this is still the best Mexican food in Brandon and possibly Tampa.
