A great family run deli. Nice thick sandwiches. No need to ask where’s the beef. Very local feel. Good variety too.

This last Sunday(thanksgiving weekend) we placed an order for egg and cheese in whole wheat bagel. Instead of telling that they don’t keep whole wheat bagel they made sandwich in whole wheat bread. When my husband brought it home we were so upset. Called them back and they said they don’t keep whole wheat bagels. Then why the hell you didn’t tell us? Why cheating? My husband went again to get another order. He ordered one sandwich in sesame bagel and another one in everything bagel. So what they did was, bagel’s one side was sesame and other was everything. Both the sandwiches were messed up and the spoiled our breakfast. Make sure you always check your order while picking.

I made a Unilocal account just to comment on this place. It is literally THE worst. I ordered a chicken cordon bleu on a whole wheat wrap. Firstly, everything is already pre made and sitting there which I’m not a fan of. I should have left when I saw that. But the lady behind the counter said she could make my wrap with grilled chicken instead so I obliged. Especially since that meant my meal would be fresh. Boy was I wrong. It was repulsive. My wrap was soggy and disgusting and I didn’t even eat it. It was a waste of 7 bucks and needless to say it’s my first and last time coming here. Save your money.

Catered from Wilke’s again and still thrilled. Called 24 hours ahead and they still managed to accommodate my 15 person order. The meatballs were delicious, and the tortilini salad was rich and satisfying. I ordered a 3′ sub part turkey and part roastbeef, and it was once again one of the freshest deli sandwiches I’ve had. Employees and owners alike are all very friendly and professional. They helped me load up my car and equipped me with all the serving implements I would possibly need.

3 out of 5 times they forget an ingredient you asked for on your sandwich(i.e. Cheese) how hard is it to make a turkey and cheese sandwich? Also, I stopped getting their rolls because they are ALWAYS stale… prob because they leave them out uncovered all day. Meats are fresh and good In a pinch but not the best deli by any means. Service could be a little better too… in the summer it seems like they employ a lot of teenagers(which is great) but they need better training on customer service!

Ordered two Italian combos… Wanted to enjoy the afternoon outside with a sandwich, afternoon was beautiful, sandwich was terrible. Sandwiches were NOT made to order, they were pre-made? What type of deli can’t make a fresh sandwich? Bread was not fresh, deli meet was not fresh, barely any dressing at all. We will definitely not return and I don’t recommend Wilkes.

My family has been loyal to Wilkes for a long time. We use them for all of our catering events. Anything from 6′ sandwiches to corned beef. The service is top notch. I would recommend them to anyone!

Came by Wilkes for lunch based on some Unilocal reviews and wasn’t happy with the product. I ordered a simple wrap that ended up coming out with budget romaine, iceberg lettuce and low-par chicken. They were also extremely stingy with the dressing — practically none. There’s nothing really too good to say about Wilkes. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Hands down, THE best potato salad in Bergen County. I’ll go to Wilkes just for that alone! The sandwiches are also great, homemade daily selections are wonderful as well. Counter help is friendly. My favorite deli around!

My days in middle school and high school would honestly not be the same without Wilkes. This place is on the money. I highly recommend this deli location because the other one in ridgewood is extremely dissapointing. Their sandwiches are just to die for. I mean a juicy buffalo chicken sandwich that’s dripping in sauce with bleu cheese. How can you resist?! All for about 4.55 $. I’ve tried to mimic the sauce but it’s just not possible. I’m currently in Newark, because I go to college there and I miss buffchicks so much. If I had the time, I would drive there right now. For those buffalo chicken lovers– Buffalo chicken sandwich w/bleu cheese or ranch. Extra sauce. For those bacon lovers– Chicken chedder bacon w/buffalo sauce As a fellow buffalo chicken wings/sandwich fan, I’ve tried wings here and there in the NYC, NJ, CA, area. But this place just can’t compare to ANYWHERE. Also, if a sandwich is too salty for you, try some coleslaw on the side. I’m telling you, you won’t regret it.

This one is definitely not like the rest of them for some reason. I know that they have a chain going but this one definitely didn’t strike me as the same. The food was definitely the same, the prices were definitely the same and the selection was definitely the same. I just can’t put my finger on it for some reason. Well, other than that, like I said, it’s Wilkes!

The last few times I’ve gone here, the kids behind the counter couldn’t put together a decent sandwich.

Very cute and quaint. Had the Italian Hero which although was pre-made the bread tasted fresh. I had a couple of their homemade desserts which were ok.

What really counts in a great deli sandwich? The heavenly roll. If you don’t do the Keiser roll right, don’t bother putting anything tasty inside. Wilkies is #1 for the roll. When I was young and could eat white rolls with abandon, I used to go and order one with just butter. Heavenly. They also make the most amazing 6 food hero’s that have shown up at more than one party of mine to feed the family of carnivores I live with. It is lonely being the only vegetarian in a family of meat eaters but this crazy large hero satisfies them every time. They do excellent individual sandwich platters for parties too. Make sure you go to the right Wilkies — this one on glen ave is the original and is still in the Wilkies family. The quality of the other one is MUCH lower. You can taste the difference most acutely in the coleslaw. Wilkies on glen has outstanding coleslaw.

One of several family-owned delis in Ridgewood that offers Boars Head coldcuts and generously-sized sandwiches. The potato salad is also quite good. Consistently good food and nice staff.
