This place is a hidden gem! I went in to ask about a cake for my son’s first birthday. The reason I picked this place was because of the pictures that are on the windows outside the store. When I went in, I spoke to Carmen(the owner) and her husband(the baker). They spent so much time with me looking at pictures and discussing ideas. I then found out the pictures outside were NOT his work. I freaked. Carmen then Showed me pictures on her phone of his work and because they were so humble and kind I decided to use them. Which is weird of me because I’m neurotic. I did say this was my son’s first birthday party cake, right?! I had found pictures of cakes I liked but did not want to spend an arm and a leg for a cake. Of Course the cake I wanted was made of fondant and the price he gave me was excellent. But after talking to the baker, he said he could make the cake I wanted but with buttercream instead of fondant. I’m guessing he’s not that proficient in fondant. We decided in buttercream cake. Pound cake with dulce de leche and strawberries filling. The day of the party, my husband and I went to pick up the cake. It was NOT ready. I kept myself together. They said they would deliver the cake to the party. I was so worried because I didn’t think they would find us. We had the party at Forest park next to the carousel. It was about noon when«the Baker» showed up. It came in this white huge box. I opened the box and OMG! It was BEAUTIFUL! He did such a wonderful job! It came out better than I expected. And the cake was so delish! The business is new. They will do super because they are good, they have great service, and they care. I paid $ 38 dollars for my cake. I think that was a steal. I don’t think that those prices will last long. So my advise to you is get in while you can. All my family and friends will use him now. No one could believe what I paid for that cake. That’s the price you pay at BJ’s for a b. s cake.
