I know NOTHING about plants. Went to the GBG and told them what I needed and they were so helpful. Explained exactly what I needed to do, where to plant, when to plant and how to keep them alive! So far… so good!!!

Selection? Terrific. Location? Great. Pricey? Yes. Customer service? Meh. Employees were watering plants and walking around — not near me, where I spent a lot of time checking out azaleas and camellias with an empty cart. I called someone from the camellias with questions — they are very nice on the phone with general information but didn’t offer to come help. I left a message to see about getting more expensive plants — no return call. The checkout girl was very nice though.

I’ve been going here for years. And will continue to do so. Yes, they have a fantastic variety of plants…
…but the staff aren’t very friendly. Sometimes it seems like asking them a question is a great offense. If you’re going to work somewhere where you have to deal with the public, you should enjoy your job, or at least pretend you do. Just some real feedback here.

I have found that The Great Big Greenhouse & Nursery has a wide variety of plants that meet most of my needs and, if I happen to want to order a particular plant, they are happy to do that, too! I am very impressed every time I go there by the friendly, helpful staff. Customer service is always a big plus!!!

My experience at the Big Green has always met or exceeded my expectations.
I sometime just like to browse through the inventory to observe the variety of blooms or inhale the sweet scent of Jasmine.
The floor sales staff has always been friendly and well informed to improve your chances of success at your home. If there is an issue I have never had any issues returning poor quality products.
The Big Green continues to support my passion for plants and hope someday during my twilight years I might work with the kids at our local store.

although it is a longer drive for me from Hanover, Great Big Greenhouse is my Go To place for anything landscaping. Best part is their friendly help, expertise on endless questions and concerns. Love the farmers market on Wednesdays too. Nice bonus.

This year we bought a house. We bought a house with a yard that needed to be 100% redone, and found ourselves at Great Big Greenhouse multiple times. Actually, I was just here last weekend. The people that work here I’ve found to be very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. And their selection is fantastic, all sorts of locally grown plants, and native species to choose from. The VIP customer emails are not flooding my inbox, but there is always great sales and information in them.

Great Big Greenhouse has always been a reputable and satisfying shopping experience. Owned as part of a small business, they offer a wide selection of locally grown plants, as well as affordable landscaping accessories. Staff are courteous, helpful, and diverse. Look out for frequent shopping discounts and sales, as you will find great bargains. They are also dog friendly for those who like to shop with their pets. On Thursdays there is a wonderful farmer’s market in the parking lot, adding to the already positive mission and atmosphere of Great Big Greenhouse.

Always have great advice from the growers as what to put what and troubleshooting any problems. Also have a great selection of exotic plants and many herbs and variety orchids that you just can’t find at other places.

This place is huge. I’ve landscaped two homes here. I won’t buy at the big box stores anymore because I’ve gotten plants home only to find they were treated with neonicotinoids, which are fatal to pollinators. The staff is knowledgeable, and the prices are good.

Update: The owner of Meadows Farms was sincerely interested in making things right for me. I am very pleased that he made time for me. I have been happy with all of my plant purchases for my yard for the past six years, including since the new ownership has taken charge. Believe me, I understand that plants aren’t perfect all the time– that’s probably why they allow returns on perennials within a year. I was not satisfied with the policy of undecorating and returning a 10 foot tree to the store on my own car, and I believe that can be handled differently on a case-​by-​case basis. Jay Meadows was very understanding of that, and I now cheerfully look forward to coupons in my inbox, and my usual spring purchases at the Great Big Greenhouse.

I didn’t have low expectations, but I very much underestimated how great and big this greenhouse is. It was really great and really big. They had stuff I’ve been looking for, and their houseplant selection was amazing and fairly priced (cheaper and much nicer-​looking than houseplants at Home Depot, for example).
Specific sections had free information sheets (like Cacti or Orchids) and I can never resist free literature. I need everyone to buy me gift certificates to this place for my birthday.

Huge greenhouse with a great selection. Every plant was on sale when we went so it was considerably cheaper than we expected. We didn’t need any help but there were many people who asked if we did and seemed knowledgable (based on their conversations with other customers). They have a selection of pots and containers, and garden knicknackery but most of the space was dedicated to plants!
