Sorry– been here twice and both times the food was marginal. Staff is friendly and prompt but doesn’t make up for the lack of quality.

So glad I took a chance on this place. I was in town for business, super hungry and decided to take a chance. Extremely inexpensive. I had the spring rolls and the chicken phở. I shouldn’t have ordered both, the portions are huge so either would have been fine alone. The spring rolls were fine, I’m not sure what they’re supposed to taste like but I enjoyed the shrimp and the dipping sauce. The chicken phở was yummy and comforting. highly recommend this place

This place is amazing! I had the chicken banh mi, the chicken spring rolls, the wonton soup and the dumplings. I also tried my friend’s beef phở. I would recommend literally everything. The banh mi was incredible. The spring rolls were great and the sauce that came with them was some of the best peanut sauce I’ve ever had. The dumplings and soup were good too. My friend’s phở was some of the best phở I’ve ever had.

Business travel brought me back to good olé Richmond. I’ve been wanting to try this place based on Unilocal reviews and am glad I finally made it. Ordered take out and got two shrimp spring rolls, tofu delite with steamed rice, and egg drop soup. Everything was packages nicely and ready for me when I get there. The food was delicious! The tofu delite was definitely my favorite. That sauce was incredible. Definitely a must try.

If you are looking for something other than the chain restaurants that line Main Street in this quaint town, hit this place up! We stopped here at 8:30 pm on a Monday night, only one other table was occupied. We ordered the tofu delight and crispy chow mein vegetables. Large portions of fresh vegetables and delicious sauces was just what we needed to fill our bellies after a long drive and less-than-exciting car snacks. Very impressed by this humble establishment and look forward to stopping again if our travels bring us here. My husband says that it’s evident that they take pride in their cooking if they come out of the kitchen to ask how everything tastes. So pleased with every bite!

A modest venue and name for this establishment does not do justice to it’s magnificent cuisine. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly and presented beautifully as a heaping portion still makes a yummy impression in my belly hours later. I had the crispy chow mein and would have it again in a heart beat. The staff was super friendly and one of the chefs passed through the dining room to ask how his food was being enjoyed; I appreciate that.

I was in Richmond for a day trip and was surprised to drive by Sub N Roll and see Banh Mi as a feature. I pulled in excitedly and ordered the Chicken Banh Mi. The sandwich was amazing. Large, almost a foot long, toasted just right, fresh veggies and herbs and a wonderful sauce that pulled it all together. What a surprise. Living in Indianapolis, we have many choices for Banh Mi, but this little shop in Richmond beats any I have tried yet. Way to go, keep them coming and I may make the 87 mile trip just to get one in the future!

Finally back in Richmond for the day, and the guys at the shop wanted to know what’s for lunch. SUBNROLL without a doubt. The Chinese and Vitimese food is solo much better than what’s available in Oxford. Please open a location in Oxford :)

The only restaurant I could find in Richmond that provides noodle with soup. I like the noodle in the special Phở, but the beef is too thick and not pre-processed. Not as good as what I had in VA.

I was in town doing some work and very hungry. We saw the restaurant as we went into downtown — I enjoyed a chicken phở and pot stickers — they were very crispy hot and good and the phở was yummy and hot on an April day so cold my fingers had turned purple. The broth was warm and tasty and the lady was like a kind mother — she showed me how to add sprouts and sauces — very clean place — including restrooms will go back if have a chance — Richmond in general impressed me

The food there is good and cheap… I like the phở, especially the soup… It’s just really nice that Richmond has this little nice Asian restaurant, which tastes authentic:)

Love this place! Everything here is good! The name requires some work and doesn’t really give out a Vietnamese vibe :(

Yummy Yummy This place is amazing. I live in NY and was visiting Richmond and came across this amazing place. OMG So good, even better than some of the shops in NYC! I would happily come here again. Everything we ordered was super. I love vietnamese food so this place is a super treat. I am not crazy about the décor and design as it looks like a fast food place but other than that woo hooo. yummy!

WOW! 10 minutes from the highway and well worth it. This is super high quality phở — the kind you’d find in NYC or San Fran. A real Vietnamese family who give it their all Allan is the head chef and he puts his heart into every second of the 9 hours it takes to make the best phở. Fresh veggies and great service. Heck, I’d drive an hour out of my way to come back. Thank you Allan!

Giddy. 100% giddy. Phở in Richmond, Indiana? Say it isn’t so! First a Thai place– now a Vietnamese joint? It’s like… like a real city. With fun and ethnic offerings in the midst of rural Indiana. The clouds have opened and horizons are about to be broadened. The uphill battle for this business? An unsuspecting building off the beaten path. But, anyone who’s smart will go out of their way to find it. My highlights/recommendations: –The cheapest spring rolls I’ve ever encountered. 4 full size rolls for around $ 3 — such a steal. I opted for the veggie tofu — spot on!(Let’s just say I eat these rice paper treats on the weekly) –delicious chicken phở with great broth(as you may know, the broth is the key to a winning bowl of phở). For those new to phở– it is like the Vietnamese version of chicken noodle soup(variety of meat options available) with rice noodles, jalapeños, line wedges, Thai basil and bean sprouts. If you like an extra kick– Siracha. Extra flavor– hoisin sauce. Lastly, the owners are super sweet and trying to get the word out. So please do this new local business a favor(however, it’s more of a favor to yourself) and pay a visit ASAP.

The Banh Mi sub was absolutely divine, and I am getting two every time in the future so I can have one for work the next day. The variety on the menu is astounding and the prices on most items are very reasonable. Their General Tso’s is better than the actual Chinese restaurants in town. My 6-year-old daughter got the fries because she wasn’t that hungry, and they were seriously some of the best fries I have ever had. They are just regular fries not the hand-cut ones like Five Guys or Penn Station, but they were delicious nonetheless. We will be going back for sure, but it’s location isn’t as convenient for us as the places on the far east or west side.

I still eat the phở at least once a week for lunch. I’ve started ordering the chicken phở and taking the chicken out. Weird, I know, but I’m on a healthier eating kick, and though the soup is delicious, the chicken is not at all impressive, so I figure why waste foodspace with something I don’t really like. *shrug* The beef phở is better, but the chicken phở is a-ok, too. I also finally had the spring rolls. They were very good– fresh and crispy green and delightful. I didn’t like the dipping sauce at all; I just dip mine in sriracha. I will certainly be adding them to my chickenless phở lunches. ^_^

What a great surprise! Sub n roll has some pretty authentic Vietnamese flavors in an unexpected environment. I don’t like the menu — at all — but I understand where the owners are coming from in trying to dumb it down for folks maybe not accustomed to this kind of cuisine. It’s a shame they feel it’s necessary, as it’s probably not. I was there for lunch on a Thursday and it was bumping. At least they’re not dumbing down the flavors! I had a relatively authentic chicken banh mi. It was flavorful and delicious, and the bread was soft buy chewy. Really fresh and good. Egg rolls are filled with a mix of pork, shrimp, maybe chicken? Tasty! The building is a little strange, clearly still set up from its previous life, but the new owners are making good use of the space. I heard an older lady ask for a carryout menu, and the gentleman working the counter told her it was at , which isn’t quite right — but close. It would probably be even better if they invested a few bucks in having a carryout menu printed. There’s little chance that lady’s going to facebook for the menu — she just won’t order instead. Hope these guys stick around — it’s quite good.

It’s a most interesting place. Of course, having a VietNamese restaurant in such a town is a surprise, unlike nail salons. I arrived with memories of Red Barn since Red Barn was in this building before McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s were in town. I was surprised to see a menu with simple choices. Maybe, it’s a better way to introduce VietNamese food to Richmond. They serve Banh Mi but call them subs. They have fried rice, spring rolls, and egg rolls. The chicken noodle soup is made like Phở but had Japanese Udon noodles instead of the vermicelli you would normally get.(This will change back to the rice vermicelli.) To top it off, they have many lovely baked items, coffee, and smoothies. I got the Chicken Noodle soup dinner, which included 2 egg rolls and a medium drink for(I believe) $ 8.55 with tax. It seems a lot until I noticed that the noodle soup had not only chicken but sausage and shrimp.(On a second trip, I had the spring rolls and they were quite good, although I avoided the peanut dipping sauce, due to my allergy.) I can’t say that anything was loaded with flavor. It was good and thankfully, not greasy. They should probably add a Tom Yum-based noodle soup. The egg rolls weren’t bad though 1 spring roll would have been a better option for me. The owner sent me a message saying that spring rolls were added as an option, as were french fries. It’s not bad and beats Linh’s in Dayton for taste and it’s better than any place I tried in Orlando’s VietNamese community. I hope it becomes successful. We need variety here. The male staffer at the counter was quite friendly. A female staffer came out into the dining room and talked to everyone else but me. Maybe, she doesn’t like Asians. On my second trip, I met the VietNamese people who apparently are the owners. They’re quite friendly and want to please. They seem willing to make changes, and would like to add additional menu items as they become more established. Allen brought me a couple of their cookies, one with chocolate chips. They seem more like cake than cookies, fluffy on the inside, and not American sweet but with a good balance of taste – the French influence on VietNam. I had a sub sandwich/banh mi and it was quite good. I think the combination is a lot more healthy than going to Pizza King or Penn Station but will probably be unsettling for most people, if they’re expecting American-style sandwiches. The grilled beef with carrots and green peppers was more like most people would have on a plate than on bread. Oh, and the bread, was glorious. I hate bread but on a few occasions, I find bread I like, Philadelphia’s Amoroso bakeries, for example. This was good bread. The sub was good, but whether non-VietNamese will like it is a question. Open to new things? Try each item on the menu at least once.
