I went to Starlite on Tuesday and have never been treated with such disrespect. The bartender only put sour in our whiskey sours because«we were not tipping her enough»(absolutely false) and another employee at the bar made an awful comment about our group for no apparent reason. Definitely lost a customer! Don’t go here and encourage unprofessional, rude, and racist behavior.

Where do I start? This is the second day in a row I have been to Starlight! I love the new menu, simple, but classy. Both my servers were great. Last night, was Reagan(blue tinted hair), such a sweetheart and so attentive as well as patient with my enthusiastic and talkative husband. Food was great, again. Friend had the catfish blt, it was HUGE! The shrimp po boy, was perfect for my husband, he just added some extra remoulade on the side. My crab cake sandwich was pretty good, except that there was a little too much old bay and filler, less crab than cake. Thanks Starlight, for a great lunch one day and great dinner the next. Lunch was Chicken parm pesto sandwich, I added tomato and it was perfect. Their Mac n cheese is cooked to order! Best I have had in while!

Four friends met for brunch today right at 10am when they opened. We were greeted promptly and sat immediately. Our waiter was very nice, and I have to give props to Starlite for the tag-team approach to service. No one just walked by and ignored things like most places. One waitstaff saw a near empty water glass and filled it, another saw a near empty beverage and asked if we wanted another cocktail. We all ordered different things: French toast, chicken biscuit with hash browns, veggie bennie, and fried green tomato press. Everyone was super happy with their meals, though I had to send my press back as the first one came with bacon, something the menu omitted. Even with my menu ordering issue, the wait staff was great about it. I’m a fan of Starlite. Solid choice, good food and service.

So I found myself here for brunch and I was worried I traditionally have thought of star-lite as a fan bar most appropriate for the 21 – 25 year olds attending VCU and UR. Though for a bar scene they can be pretty inconsistent, I have had many amazingly fun nights at star-lite in my younger years. That being said, I love brunch and was really hungry so I wanted something a little more gourmet than bar food… so I thought. The food was actually next level for such a popular bar. We ordered a fritatta with chorizo and country bennies. The fritatta was delicious and huge. The country bennies consist of an open-faced biscuit with country ham and sausage gravy. Now if your family is as Southern as mine, country ham on a brunch menu will make your heart skip a beat. Way too much food, but a welcomingly delicious surprise. They definitely have elevated the bar food stereotype. I was wrong to judge before trying. Also, on Sundays they have great drink specials: standard am specials on bloody marys, greyhounds, mimosas(even a delicious create your take on mimosas), and poinsettas. Many of which you can order by the glass or the pitcher depending on what kind of Sunday-Funday you are trying to have. Sidenote– Britt is an amazing, sweet server on the brunch team. She helped us order great food and really enjoy our brunch out.

Food is good but the service is eh. We were waiting for awhile at the bar for our table. Come for the brunch! We split a mimosa pitcher for real cheap. The chicken & biscuits were so good. I was so happy getting them. There was so much food I had leftovers after. The food is really good you just gotta be patient with the service. We were forgotten a lot and it seemed like our server was always in a rush to leave the table.

Six hungry black folk looking for a meal on Sunday morning, stumbled across this blue building on the corner and had an average time. This is their story. Wait time was a bit long as expected on a Sunday during breakfast, as there isn’t much place to wait this made for some uncomfortable standing around. Five out of six went with I Can’t Make Up My Mind, it is a sampler platter of many common breakfast staples. Be prepared for an long quiz when putting in this order as they have you receive a lot of options with this dish. Stay away from the pancakes, they are way too dense and tough to get down. Biscuits are fantastic, don’t waste your time with toast. Sausage is good enough I wish I went patty instead of link, eggs well prepared and tasty and hash browns are top notch. Mimosas are just okay, we crushed two pitchers with no notably buzz because of the harsh Virginia alcohol laws, unfortunately there is no unlimited option. Service was good, everybody was cool and helpful. All in all six black folk went in hungry and six came out relatively satisfied.

Haven’t eaten here in years, and when I did I was drunk so I don’t remember it well. Went for lunch today as we passed by. Food was awesome. Got the Philly quick lunch special(with Whiz) and the chicken and pesto sandwich to share with my boyfriend. Both were so good!

Starlite has really stepped up their game recently! They’ve redone their entire menu and it is delicious. This is definitely my go-to spot now and I always have a great time when I’m there. Beau is the best!!!

Awesome Brunch, excellent service, decent prices and overall great experience. Their Country Breakfast was amazing: Country Ham, stoneground grits, biscuit and scrambeled eggs white, coffee and water. sat outside on the open air porch, hostess and waitress were right on it, continually coming by the table to offer anything needed. Definitely a local retaurant to support and drive their business Thanks for a wonderful overall experience. Free WiFi was a perk!

This place is AWESOME. That opening to the outside though. Oh. Beautiful. Having brunch here was so awesome. I know I keep saying«awesome» but it was. Right as we walked in the door, we were greeted and seated. We sat right next to the open windows and the breeze that came through abd the outside city life waching made brunch even better. I ordered he country ham and eggs, with grits, of course. They know how to get their grits RIGHT. Salads were huge, the pita pizza seemed to be loved by the kids, and the burgers were devoured. With all that being said, here are some reasons why this place wouldn’t get 5 stars from me: The tv channel was showing baby chicks being processed. No one wants to see that while we are eating. The table we sat at was dirty. We had to wipe down the tables. The flies were EVERYWHERE. I understand the windows were open, but I know that there are ways to reduce the amount of fly traffic through pest control. My family is in the food insdustry too, trust me, I know. I would have given this place 3 stars, but the service was just so outstanding, I was FORCED to give a 4 star rating. Well, how bout dem apples? A patron forced to give a place an extra star because of the service. The owner and manager should be proud. Y’all have an awesome staff.

Arguably the best fries in Richmond and really good sandwiches, but my GOD the service is bad. Don’t try to go there for a «quick» anything because you’ll be there for hours. Literal hours.

Service is great food is too have to check out the desert menu. Drinks are always good severs and bartenders are always checking on you so you don’t have try to track them down. On the weekends it does get a little more crowded but you can still get a drink.

So, we stopped in to Star-Lite to get a quick bite and a drink. I asked for a Glenfiddich neat, and the waitress had no idea what I wanted. I told her it was scotch. She walked away quickly and when she came back, she came back with something with ice. I asked her what it was, and she gave a poor pronunciation of Glenlivet. I like Glenlivet just fine, but it wasn’t what I asked for. Then I told her I wanted it neat. She didn’t understand. I clarified, «without ice,» so she goes away, and comes back with the same drink strained of the ice. Cold. I understand it’s «just» Star-Lite. It’s my fault. My expectation was too high.

We have been going nearly weekly over the past several years for consistently good wings, good beer, decent wine; sometimes we are lucky to have Beau and a great playlist. Not really fans of the new menu, we stuck with our«party chicken»(the new name for wings) routine because it’s always been good. Unfortunately, the wings are no longer consistently good — sometimes undercooked, sometimes overcooked, sometimes under sauced… Mostly under sauced. And the wine has gone in the toilet — possibly literally as I think they just mix leftovers from other bars together. Bummed about the changes, we are branching out.

The star-lite reboot needs a reboot. The music at 6:00 pm was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation. The food was gross. The beef tasted like prison-grade meat with an off-putting texture. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were decent. Service started off ok, but we sat with dirty plates in front of us for 15 minutes while our server gabbed away in the corner. I had to get up and ask for our check. Dinner feels like a rock in my stomach that I may have to expel when I get home.

This place really is just A-OK. Went as a group of five for dinner. Service was REALLY slow — so slow that eventually our waiter said that he was the only one working(hence all the delays). I can certainly sympathize with that, but it would probably be wise to have enough wait staff to go around. Went with the chicken quesadilla, and it was really delicious, though a tad bit too greasy for my liking(though, what would one expect at a dive diner?!). I really liked the salsa, and thought the portion was good. Again, just a bit too greasy. Other folks seemed to like their dinner, too. The husband got the reuben and said it was OK, though nothing to write home about. I will say the milkshake was crazy good! Go for the Oreo.

I only come here for their happy hour specials. Tuesdays from 6pm — 9pm, they have half off appetizers and $ 3 Rails. Their food here is really goood, and cheap with the happy hour specials! Also, their rail prices are not bad. One trick that you can do when you ask for happy hour drinks is to have your shot of alcohol separated from the juice that makes the rail to make sure that they put a full shot into your drink. I come here mostly for it’s vibes… on Tuesdays, it gets pretty filled and the music is loud — it’s just a comfortable place to drink for a casual happy hour and maybe even get a little rowdy.

I have nothing to complain about — the service was fast and friendly. In fact, the waitress was really awesome. :-) Our waitress also knew from the beginning to divide the tab between each member at the table.(I love that). The food was OK… the meat in my French Dip was a bit chewy.

When told we were crawling to a mythical bar called Star Lite I immediately played back the nursery rhyme in my head. «Star Light, star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might. Have the wish I wish tonight.» I wished I saw a single star and wished me drinks came faster. On a corner with quite a few other bars the only reason we didn’t go to 3 Monkey’s was a seedy individual on their porch who looked like a serial killer we once encountered. Nope, not going there, plus the Air Conditioning is better here. The complete name has dining in it so that’s the reason for the leather booths. I did not try their food, nor use their bathroom. Simply stopped in on a bar crawl as people got off work and joined our ever growing group. The TV’s were a nice addition to keep it lively and the booths seated 8 or so, there was good windows and airflow on this muggy summer evening and the AC was going to my own delight. Joining late I ordered my drink separately and waiting some 10 minutes, far too long for a beer considering it wasn’t packed or crowded, the bartender simply overlooked me. Asking what their strongest IPA or double IPA was she could not answer. I fully expected a much craftier selection and ended up going to Sam Adams. Smh. I tend to drink too fast and end up drinking twice as much as my friends and the beer helps limit that. Price was ok, décor was mediocre. I seem to recall and blue ceiling meant to mimic the night sky.
