I lived in Richmond from 2008 – 2011 and only visited Metro Grill once under the previous ownership. During a recent trip back to the Fan I decided to check out the revamped Metro and see what all the fuss was about. I was blown away by the atmosphere, the energy of the crowd, and the attentiveness of the bartenders. I enjoyed my Saturday night experience so much that I returned to try the Sunday brunch. And what a pleasant surprise the food turned out to be! The sausage gravy with biscuits eggs and bacon were top notch! I really enjoyed everything about Metro Grill and can’t wait to visit again next time I return to Richmond.

Mixed reviews for this typical neighborhood bar. This place isn’t as hip as others on Robinson, but sometimes that’s a plus. The night we went, the place was empty except for a handful of what I have to assume are regulars. The draft beer selection is horrible, possibly one of the least impressive in a city known for craft beer. The food was reasonable for bar fare; nothing exciting but absolutely passable(props for the incredibly crispy fries). Service was friendly, albeit completely uninformed about the menu. At the end of the night, the bill wasn’t too bad, and no one left wishing we had gone somewhere else. That said, this place is not going to be a repeat for me.
